CITIZEN JOURNALISTS WHO EXPOSED BEIJING’S LIES IN WUHAN SUDDENLY VANISH

Citizen Journalists Who Exposed Beijing's Lies In Wuhan Suddenly Vanish

Chicoms cracking down on truth about coronavirus crisis

Zero Hedge – FEBRUARY 7, 2020

As we reported late Thursday evening, the death toll from the viral outbreak on mainland China has surpassed 600.

With global markets once again in the red, Bloomberg reports that Beijing has silenced two of the citizen journalists responsible for much of the horrifying footage seeping onto western social media.

As BBG’s reporter explains, Chinese citizen journalists Chen Qiushi and Fang Bin have effectively been “the world’s eyes and ears” inside Wuhan (much of the film produced by American news organizations has consisted of drone footage).

In recent days, SCMP and other news organizations reporting on the ground and publishing in English have warned that Beijing has stepped up efforts to censor Chinese social media after allowing citizens to vent their frustrations and share news without the usual scrutiny.

On Wednesday, China said its censors would conduct “targeted supervision” on the largest social media platforms including Weibo, Tencent’s WeChat and ByteDance’s Douyin. All in an effort to mask the dystopian nightmare that life in cities like Wuhan has become.

But that brief period of informational amnesty is now over, apparently. Fang posted a dramatic video on Friday showing him being forcibly detained and dragged off to a ‘quarantine’. He was detained over a video showing corpses piled up in a Wuhan hospital. However, he has already been released.

Chen, meanwhile, seems to have vanished without a trace, and is believed to still be in government detention. We shared one of Chen’s more alarming videos documenting the severe medical supply shortages and outnumbered medical personnel fighting a ‘losing battle’ against the outbreak.

The crackdown on these journalists comes amid an outpouring of public anger over the death of a doctor who was wrongly victimized by police after attempting to warn the public about the outbreak. Beijing tried to cover up the death, denying it to the western press before the local hospital confirmed.

The videos supplied by the two citizen journos have circulated most freely on twitter, which is where most in-the-know Chinese go for their latest information about the outbreak. Many “hop” the “great firewall” via a VPN.

“There’s a lot more activity happening on Twitter compared with Weibo and WeChat,” said Maya Wang, senior China researcher at Human Rights Watch. There has been a Chinese community on Jack Dorsey’s short-message platform since before President Xi Jinping rose to power, she added, but the recent crackdown has weakened that social circle.

Chen has now been missing for more than 24 hours, according to several friends in contact with BBG News.

Chen has been out of contact for a prolonged period of time. His friends posted a message on his Twitter account saying he has been unreachable since 7 p.m. local time on Thursday. In a texted interview, Bloomberg News’s last question to Chen was whether he was concerned about his safety as he’s among the few people reporting the situation on the front lines.

It’s all part of the great crackdown that Beijing is enforcing, even as the WHO continues to praise the Communist Party for its ‘transparency’.

“After lifting the lid briefly to give the press and social media some freedom,” said Wang about China’s ruling Communist Party, the regime “is now reinstating its control over social media, fearing it could lead to a wider-spread panic.”

With a little luck, the world might soon learn Chen’s whereabouts. Then again, there’s always the chance that he’s never heard from again.

CORONAVIRUS MODEL PREDICTS 183 MILLION INFECTIONS BEFORE THE END OF FEBRUARY

Coronavirus Model Predicts 183 Million Infections Before the End of February

If infection rate follows current trend and virus isn’t contained.

 | Infowars.com – JANUARY 30, 2020

A model that predicts the number of coronavirus infections that will occur if the outbreak isn’t contained shows that based on current projections, there will be over 183 million infections before the end of February.

The chart, produced by data firm Bianco Research, shows that if the current rate of infections remains consistent, 183,943,221 people will have been infected by the virus within the next three weeks.

Given that the virus has already infected a minimum of 7,711 people and killed 170 (a fatality percentage of just over 2per cent), if 183 million people were infected, statistically upwards of 3.6 million would die.

Given how horrific these numbers are, one can only hope that health authorities can get the outbreak under control before it gets anywhere near that level.

“To be absolutely clear, this is NOT a prediction that 100 million people will be infected by Feb 20,” explains Bianco Research. “Rather, this has been its growth rate for the last 12 days. A vaccine, mutation or successful quarantine/isolation could help reduce this growth rate.”

The firm also warns that if the outbreak turns into a global pandemic, it could have huge economic consequences and that “the global supply chain will grind to a halt.”

A further 44,000 are under quarantine and are suspected but not confirmed of having the virus, so the numbers could be even higher.

“The China Health Commission also gives us the number under quarantine” commented Jim Bianco. “This is those with flu symptoms isolated and monitored. It is up 10x to 44K in the last five days. This is the inventory that will feed the continued geometric of infection rates.”

As we reported earlier, Senator Tom Cotton is calling for an immediate shut down of all flights from China to the U.S. after Israel banned flights and Russia closed the entirety of its 2,600-mile border with China.

Jack Dorsey And 170+ CEOs Sign Letter Declaring Abortion Bans ‘Bad For Business’

In order for businesses to keep “thriving day in and day out” women need constant, round the clock abortions, our prog-globalist overlords announced in a full-page ad in The New York Times on Monday.

From NBC News:

More than 170 CEOs have signed a letter opposing laws and regulations that restrict women’s reproductive healthcare, including abortion.

The letter appears today as a full-page ad in The New York Times under the heading “Don’t Ban Equality,” and comes less than a month after Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey signed the most restrictive abortion legislation in the U.S., banning doctors from performing abortion at any stage of pregnancy, punishable by 99 years in prison. The law includes no exceptions for cases of rape or incest.

Several other states — including Georgia, Arkansas, Indiana and Missouri — have adopted similar laws this year.

Twitter and Square Chief Executive Officer Jack Dorsey, along with fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff, Diane Von Furstenburg, and CEOs from companies including Yelp, H&M, The Body Shop and Glossier, say they signed the letter to send a clear message that restricting access to reproductive care, including abortion, is “against our values, and is bad for business.”

Such legislation, the executives write, inhibits “our ability to build diverse and inclusive workforce pipelines, recruit top talent across the states, and protect the well-being of all the people who keep our businesses thriving day in and day out.”

The CEOs of Disney and Netflix said as much late last month:

Abortion after abortion is required to keep our GDP high and our factories running at full capacity, 24/7.

This is “our values” and this is “who we are.”

Tucker Carlson Speaks Out Against Targeted Murders Of White South African Farmers

By Chris Menahan

Tucker Carlson spoke out against the surge in “racist violence” targeting white farmers in South Africa and blasted the media for covering it up.

Last month, South African activist and mom Annette Kennealy, who spoke out against the massacre of white farmers in South Africa on social media, was brutally murdered on her farm in a hammer and knife attack.

On Sunday, another white South African farmer who also spoke out against farm attacks, Stefan Smit, was murdered on his farm by four men who broke into his home and shot him in front of his family and friends:

On Wednesday, a third farm attack occurred in the same area of the Cape Winelands, which the Western Cape government said has become “a hot spot for farm attacks.”

On the same day Smit was murdered, “an elderly couple’s house was broken into on a farm nearby.”

“Three armed suspects gained entry to the house and threatened the two occupants, both aged 70. They fled with personal belongings and are yet to be arrested.”

Tucker reported on Smit’s murder Monday night and took the media to task for covering up this epidemic of racist violence.

From The Daily Caller, “Tucker Says ‘Skin Color Is The Central Motivation’ For Brutal South African Killings”:

While the Times had interviewed Smit for a March piece about the struggle for land in the country’s wine region, the outlet — in the same article — called claims that South African farmers were being murdered in large numbers and forced off their land “false or exaggerated allegations.”

Carlson began the segment by pointing out the “hundreds” of farmers killed, “some of whom after suffering horrific tortures.” And yet, the South African government has responded not by “protecting the farmers” but by working “to change the country laws in order to seize land without compensation.”

“And skin color is a central motivation here,” said the Fox News host. “Nobody denies that. Let’s be clear about what is happening. This is racist violence, as brutal and horrifying and indefensible as anything that happened under Apartheid.”
