Trump to Pelosi: Ready or not, State of the Union is happening ‘on time & on location’

US President Donald Trump has informed Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi that he will show up on January 29 to deliver the State of the Union. She replied that it cannot happen until the government shutdown ends.

In a letter sent to Pelosi (D-California) on Day 33 of the shutdown, Trump said that he had already accepted her “kind invitation” when he got another letter about security concerns, on January 16. However, both the Secret Service and Homeland Security assured him  “there would be absolutely no problem regarding security” and even said so publicly.

“Therefore, I will be honoring your invitation, and fulfilling my Constitutional duty, to deliver important information to the people and Congress the United States of America regarding the State of our Union,” the president wrote on Wednesday.

“It would be so very sad for our Country if the State of the Union were not delivered on time, on schedule, and very importantly, on location!” he added at the end, in a typical Trumpian flourish.

Pelosi responded within a couple hours, telling Trump that the House will “not consider a concurrent resolution” authorizing the president’s speech in the House chamber until the government has reopened, in effect rescinding her invitation.

The letter exchange is just the latest twist in the war of words between Trump, a Republican, and the congressional Democrats. At the end of last year, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) blocked the approval of a bill passed by the Republican-majority House giving $5.6 billion to Trump’s proposed border wall, triggering a government shutdown. Pelosi, who became Speaker on January 3, after a new Democrat-majority House was sworn in, has flat-out refused any funding for the wall, ever, calling it “immoral.”

About a quarter of the government has been shuttered as a result, with some 800,000 federal workers either sent home or made to work without pay until the impasse is resolved.

Attempting to leverage Trump into surrendering, Pelosi sent the January 16 letter about security concerns, bringing up the fact that Trump’s Secret Service security detail and indeed the entire Department of Homeland Security are among the furloughed feds.

Both DHS and the Secret Service immediately chimed in to say that this mission was critical and would not be affected. Trump also fired back the following day, denying Pelosi the use of US military assets for congressional travel – including a trip she and a delegation of House Democrats have already embarked on, to Belgium and and Afghanistan. Pelosi fumed, but did not take the final step of dis-inviting the president at the time.

Under Article II, Section 3 of the US Constitution, the president “shall from time to time give to Congress information of the State of the Union and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.” It was traditionally delivered in writing until President Woodrow Wilson appeared in person before the joint session of Congress in 1913.

YOUR COMPLETE GUIDE TO HOW THE MEDIA TRIED RUINING THE LIVES OF INNOCENT TEENAGERS

capture

By Joe Simonson

  • The media smelled blood when a video seemingly showed a group of teenage boys bullying an older Native American protester.

  • Newer videos showed that the protester had actually approached the students, who were also receiving slurs shouted by a group of radical activists.

  • The media’s misleading reports happened at a time when the students were facing death threats.

Just mere days after BuzzFeed News dropped its hotly disputed report accusing President Donald Trump of obstruction of justice, the media decided to pick a new target: a group of teenage Catholic high school boys.

On Friday, a group of male students from Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky found themselves in the middle of a media firestorm after an initial video gave the impression that they had mobbed a Native American protester. Media figures, still reeling from the wave of criticism following the BuzzFeed News fiasco, smelled blood. Sure, the initial video didn’t show the students assaulting anyone, but that didn’t stop reporters, commentators and Hollywood celebrities from focusing on the smirk of a student in the video, which somehow triggered painful memories of lonely prom nights and failed junior varsity sport tryouts.

Of course, newer videos showed that the students were completely innocent. They were first taunted by a group of radical activists and the Native American protester approached them. (RELATED: The Real Story Behind The Catholic School Boys And Their Dust Up With A Native American Veteran)

Even with this new information, CNN decided to report the story with the following headline:

Facts first, of course.

BuzzFeed News Reporter, Anne Helen Petersen, made her colleagues proud by smearing one of the kids in the video and implied he had a future in sexually assaulting women. Petersen even acknowledged that other videos showed a completely different story, but that didn’t stop her diatribe about why a teenage boy’s face “caused a visceral reaction.”

Three Washington Post reporters, as National Review’s Michael Brendan Dougherty neatly explained, framed their story on how “a throng of young, mostly white teenage boys, several wearing “Make America Great Again” caps,” surrounded the Native American protestor Nathan Phillips and reported that he “felt threatened.”

Even The New York Times seemingly contradicted itself halfway through its own report:

The Atlantic’s James Fallows, just hours after the first video was released, wrote a bizarre column comparing the young boys to pro-segregation activists. Fallows seemed to even recognize that other footage might give a more complete picture of the incident, but he chose to brush this off as just “whatever happened.”

Even by Monday morning, MSNBC was still tweeting out clips from shows expressing sympathy for Fallows. One women, who purports to have been there, said she “witnessed something that was very aggressive and something that was very frightening.”

WATCH:

Other reporters, like The New York Times’ Jonathan Capehart, stood in solidarity with Phillips, while others like esteemed tech journalists Kara Swisher said this is exactly why Americans needed that insipid Gillette ad.

In fairness, a number of individuals apologized and shared the newer videos demonstrating the students’ innocence (which you can find in this piece by The Daily Caller’s Scott Morefield).

Despite these efforts, it’s important to keep in mind that the media’s efforts to tarnish the reputations of these innocent kids was being done while other social media users were encouraging violence and sending death threats.

One would think that following the fallout from the disputed BuzzFeed report, the media would take a minute before trying to ruin any more innocent lives, particularly when we’re talking about kids. Yet this whole episode makes one thing clear: Journalists aren’t willing to learn a thing.

Teen girl seriously injured in Germany after drunk Afghan refugee drags her off bus

capture

A 17-year-old girl was seriously injured in Minden, Germany after a drunk Afghan refugee dragged her off a bus by her hair, causing her to be run over by the bus while trying to escape the man.

According to a police statement, the girl was repeatedly harassed by the 22-year-old man while she waited at a bus terminal in Minden, near Hanover, with her 14-year-old friend just before 9pm local time on Saturday.

The girl and her friend sought safety from the man, and his 21-year-old friend, by running to a nearby bus, where the bus driver, 41, let them on. However, the persistent pair also got onboard and the 22-year-old dragged the girl from the bus by her hair – after it had started to move.

In the attack, the girl slipped and fell beneath the bus, causing it to run over her legs and leaving her with “severe injuries,” police said. As bystanders rushed to help the teen, the bus driver chased the men hoping to get a picture of them. He was reportedly slapped in the face by the 21-year-old.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene and the girl was transported to hospital. The aggressor and his companion were both found drunk by police a short time later and arrested.

The 22-year-old was charged with assault and brought before a district court the following day where he was ordered to remain in jail until his trial. His friend was released without charge on Sunday after sobering up.

Grooming Gang Gets Taxpayer Money to Fight Deportation

By RONOC R. 23 January 2019

A grooming gang in Britain has received over 1 million pounds in taxpayer funds to fight their deportation.

The Rochdale grooming gang, so loving referred to as “Asian” by the British government, has been charged with grooming and raping girls as young as 13 years old. All four men come from Pakistan.

Since Britain is still a part of the EU, the “Asian” gang gets to use Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Article 8 is used to protect families against traumatic experiences such as separation.

David Spencer of the Crime Prevention Think Tank weighed in on the matter: “These men have been convicted of some truly shocking offenses, and it beggars belief that they are now able to run up even bigger taxpayer-funded bills making spurious appeals to extend their stay in the UK.”

The four men have run up a bill on the taxpayer dime, estimated to be 1,009,645 pounds.

Their taxpayer funded lawyers are working very hard to stop their eminent deportations and most of them are already out of prison for these heinous crimes.

This event outlines the extreme detriment of the EU laws that Britain has to live under because Prime Minister May can’t seem to get her act together and deliver on the referendum vote.

REPORT: Pelosi Signals State of Union Shutdown, Tells Democratic Caucus Members Not to Invite Family to D.C.

By Peter D’Abrosca

A Wednesday morning report from a CNN correspondent said that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told Democratic caucus members not to invite their families to Washington D.C. next week, signaling that the State of the Union speech will not happen as planned.

“Speaker Pelosi advised members not to bring family to Washington next week, an implication that the State of the Union is not going to happen, per source in a morning caucus meeting. Members often invite spouses and other family to attend the SOTU,” explained Manu Raju on Twitter.

If true (this is a CNN report, remember) Pelosi’s actions would represent an escalation in the border wall funding feud between Democrats and President Donald J. Trump.

Saturday, Trump offered the Democrats an extension of President Barack H. Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in exchange for wall funding. Pelosi and company swiftly declined the deal, shifting the burden of the shutdown onto the Democrats.

Before that, Pelosi surprised the Trump administration by saying that she would disinvite him from the State of the Union speech – not that he needs her permission to convene Congress.

Trump responded by cancelling Pelosi’s taxpayer-funded trip abroad, just one hour before she and a Congressional delegation were set to go wheels up from Andrews Air Force Base, an epic power move.

Muslim Congresswoman Deletes Covington Catholic Tweet After Being Threatened with Libel Suit

By Peter D’Abrosca

notably anti-Christian congresswoman deleted a Tweet spreading the false narrative aired by the mainstream press regarding the interaction between several boys from Covington Catholic High School and proven liar Nathan Phillips, a Native American man.

“The boys were protesting a woman’s right to choose and yelled ‘it’s not rape if you enjoy it.’ They were taunting 5 Black men before they surrounded Phillips and led racist chants. Sandmann’s family hired a right wing PR firm to write his non-apology,” Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) said in a now-deleted Tweet from Tuesday night.

Among the problems with Omar’s Tweet is the fact that none of those things happened. Omar’s Tweet also came a full three days after the fake news narrative surrounding the incident was debunked by video evidence showing the full context of the exchange.

A prominent attorney, Robert Barnes, who is representing the Covington Catholic boys pro bono against those in the media who have libeled them, shot back at Omar.

“This is libel. Retract, or get sued,” Barnes said.

Omar got herself into some hot water for mocking Vice President Mike Pence’s Christian faith in December.

Big League Politics reported:

In another demonstration of why it’s never a good idea to elect radical extremists to political office in the United States, Minnesota Congresswoman elect Ilhan Omar, who is a Somali Muslim immigrant, took to twitter to mock Vice President Mike Pence’s Christian faith.

According to Twitter, you can’t post facts about Sharia Law, but if you’re a Muslim, you’re allowed to call for Jews to be exterminated, and you can say anything you want about Christians and Jews. Not only is Twitter actively enforcing Sharia law around the world, but Twitter is also giving a platform to jihadis and terrorist organizations like the Muslim BrotherhoodCAIR,  HamasLinda Sarsour, and 9/11 co-conspirator Siraj Wahhaj, just to name a few.

Someone on Omar’s staff must have alerted her to the fact that libeling teenagers is perhaps not the best optic, especially for a Freshman congresswoman. That she couldn’t figure that out for herself is troublesome in itself.

Most of the cable news networks have backed off their libelous coverage of the boys’ interaction with Phillips, but some, like NBC, are continuing to push the narrative even today.

STOLEN VALOR? WAPO QUIETLY ADMITS NATIVE AMERICAN ACTIVIST NEVER SERVED IN VIETNAM

Stolen Valor? WaPo Quietly Admits Native American Activist Never Served in Vietnam

Mainstream media has been pushing lie for days

Infowars.com – JANUARY 22, 2019

Leftist activist Nathan Phillips, who was presented by the corporate media as a Vietnam veteran being harassed by pro-Trump Catholic school students over the weekend in DC, never actually served in the Vietnam War, The Washington Post admitted.

Buried at the bottom of their story, WaPo quietly issued a bombshell correction to their false reporting about Phillips, admitting that he never fought in the Vietnam War and was not a “Vietnam veteran,” as dozens of other publications asserted.

“Correction: Earlier versions of this story incorrectly said that Native American activist Nathan Phillips fought in the Vietnam War. Phillips served in the U.S. Marines from 1972 to 1976 but was never deployed to Vietnam.”

But the damage has already been done, as the media has been promoting Phillips as a Vietnam War veteran for several days.

Interestingly, Phillips himself employs semantic games by referring to himself as a “Vietnam times veteran.”

The fact that the Washington Post buried this key bit of revelatory information at the bottom of their article further highlights how the media at large is more interested in presenting a certain narrative than reporting objectively.

MSM including NPR, ABC, CBS, and NBC claim a group of school children harassed a group of native American, black, and minority adults when the footage shows the opposite actually occurred. Alex breaks down the propaganda campaign by MSM to smear Trump supporters as hateful.
