First noted on Twitter by Nick Monroe, the Tweet is no longer live on Pelosi’s account.

In full, it read:
“The racist, homophobic attack on
@JussieSmollett is an affront to our humanity. No one should be attacked for who they are or whom they love. I pray that Jussie has a speedy recovery & that justice is served. May we all commit to ending this hate once & for all.”
Pelosi did not publicly apologize for piling on after the media blamed supporters of President Donald J. Trump for the attack. She has not publicly commented on the event since the now-deleted Tweet.
Per Pelosi’s request, it looks like justice will be served – against Smollett, who fabricated the entire event.
Smollett allegedly paid two Nigerian friends and cast members on “Empire” to stage stunt. The pair bought the rope that was found hanging around Smollett’s neck.
The actor claimed that he was beaten, a rope was tied around his neck, and bleach was poured on him while he fought for his life. He claimed that his “attackers” yelled homophobic and racial slurs. as well as “this is MAGA country” during the “attack.”
Sunday morning, Smollett’s lawyers doubled down, insisting that Smollett is still a victim, despite what police said. Their move signals that Smollett is not ready ready to give up on the hoax just yet. Chicago Police warned that Smollett will be “held accountable” for the hoax.

A source close to the investigation confirms to CBS News the brothers told detectives Smollett paid them to participate in the alleged attack on January 29 and that they purchased the rope — which was found around Smollett’s neck — at a nearby hardware store. The source said detectives have evidence to corroborate the sale, something the men’s attorney alluded to Friday night.
“New evidence that was brought to their attention, obviously I had it, my clients had it,” said Gloria Schmidt, the brothers’ attorney.
The Chicago Police Department released a statement Saturday night saying information from the brothers had “shifted the trajectory of the investigation.”
“We can confirm that the information received from the individuals questioned by police earlier in the Empire case has in fact shifted the trajectory of the investigation. We’ve reached out to the Empire cast member’s attorney to request a follow-up interview.”
Smollett’s attorneys, Todd S. Pugh and Victor P. Henderson, issued a statementlate Saturday saying Smollett was “angered and devastated” by reports that he knew the people associated with the alleged attack.
“One of these purported suspects was Jussie’s personal trainer who he hired to ready him physically for a music video. It is impossible to believe that this person could have played a role in the crime against Jussie or would falsely claim Jussie’s complicity,” the statement said.
The attorneys said the actor would continue to cooperate with authorities as the investigation continues. “At the present time, Jussie and his attorneys have no inclination to respond to ‘unnamed’ sources inside of the investigation, but will continue discussions through official channels,” the statement said.
Police said the two men — identified as Ola and Abel Osundairo — were captured on surveillance video at the time that Smollett said he was attacked.
Ola Osundairo is connected to Smollett through the hit show “Empire” where he played a prisoner in season two.
Both brothers apparently left Chicago on the day of the alleged attack and were detained when they returned Wednesday. Chicago detectives tore through their apartment looking for clues, and an evidence log shows they found ropes, masks and bleach. They were released Friday night without charges.
A Chicago Police Department spokesperson said “detectives have additional investigative work to complete.”
In a recent interview with “Good Morning America,” Smollett said he was sure the men in the photo were his attackers.
“And then I see the attacker, masked. And he said, ‘This is MAGA country, n*****.’ Punches me right in the face. So, I punched his ass back,” Smollett said. “I think what people need to hear is just the truth.”
Smollett has not spoken publicly about the arrest and subsequent release of the two brothers. Earlier this week, Chicago police said Smollett was still being treated as a victim, not a suspect.

The Jussie Smollett hate hoax officially blew up, but the ‘Empire’ actor refuses to admit he staged the MAGA attack that took place two weeks ago.
Fox reported Saturday afternoon that Chicago police sources confirmed detectives were able to show that the Nigerian brothers who were “persons of interest” and questioned by police, bought the rope found around Jussie Smollett’s neck at Crafty Beaver Hardware the weekend of January 25th.
Jussie Smollett paid for the rope — The Nigerian brothers were paid $3,500 before leaving for Nigeria and were promised another $500 as soon as they returned back to the US.

According to sources, Jussie Smollett and the two Nigerian brothers rehearsed the MAGA attack.
Sources said one of the brothers held the rope and poured bleach while the other wore a plain red hat and yelled racist and homophobic slurs at Smollett, reported CBS Chicago.
Smollett also had the Nigerian brothers purchase two red ball caps from Uptown Beauty Supply to wear during the attack so they would appear to be Trump supporters.
It was reported Saturday night that the Chicago Police Department is no longer looking at ‘Empire’ star Jussie Smollett as a victim in his alleged assault — but rather an “active participant.”
Despite all of the reports from police sources that Jussie Smollett staged the hate crime, his lawyers pushed back in a statement late Saturday night calling the Chicago cops liars.
Jussie Smollett’s attorneys, Todd S. Pugh and Victor P. Henderson, released a statement late Saturday night insisting the alleged MAGA attack that took place on January 29th in the subfreezing temps in Chicago was real.
According to reports, high-profile attorney Michael Monico is no longer representing Jussie Smollett after a disagreement about the decision to release Saturday night’s statement.
Jussie Smollett could get up to three years in prison for filing a false police report in the state of Illinois.

CNN’s Shimon Prokupecz reported Saturday, “Chicago Police believe Jussie Smollett paid two men to orchestrate the assault. The sources tell CNN that the two men are now cooperating fully with law enforcement.”

Smollett had previously claimed that at 2am in downtown Chicago, he was attacked by two men, had a rope wrapped around his neck, and chemicals thrown on him and claimed he was called racial and homophobic slurs. He also said that the attackers yelled “This is MAGA country!” at him.
Left-wing Hollywood, of course, used the alleged attack to cast blame on President Trump and the United States in general.
Empire co-creator Lee Daniels said, “We have to love each other regardless of what sexual orientation we are because it shows we are united on a united front and no racist fuck can come in and do the things that they did to you.”
“Hold your head up, Jussie. I’m with you. I’ll be there in a minute. It’s just another fucking day in America,” he said.
Singer Cher roared, “VILLAINY, RACISM,HOMOPHOBIA, PROMOTED BY MOST INFAMOUS [clown] IN [the world],IS THE POISON THAT KILLS [America].”
“[America] IS PPL OF COLOR,” she added. “GOP GOES DOWN WITH SHIP djt.”

“Standing with and sending love to @JussieSmollett today… this is a racist hate crime and is disgusting and shameful to our country,” pop star Katy Perry said.

Actress Olivia Munn claimed, without evidence, “Jussie Smollett was violently attacked by two white men who poured bleach on him and put a noose around his neck.”
“He was targeted for being black and for being gay. THIS is why we have to have zero tolerance against homophobia and racism. Jussie’s life matters.”

Actor Billy Eichner used the incident to cast blame on Trump and “all MAGA lunatics.”
“Heartbroken and furious reading about the attack on JussieSmollett. I want Trump and all MAGA lunatics to burn in Hell,” the Billy on the Street star said.
In a now-deleted tweet, Rosie O’Donnell cast blame on “maga assholes.”

Rob Reiner chimed in with his usual vitriol, “The horrific attack on Jussie Smollett has no place in a decent human loving society. Homophobia existed before Trump, but there is no question that since he has injected his hatred into the American bloodstream, we are less decent, less human,& less loving. No intolerance! No DT!”

Hollywood director Barry Jenkins also blamed Trump, saying, “Thinking of Jussie. Saddened. Heartbroken. Angry. ALL of it. Wouldn’t matter that he is the kindest soul. But he IS the kindest soul. And this is FUCKED. This is what all that hateful mongering has wrought. Are you PROUD???”

“for the love of god, how how how can people still be supporting the ‘president’ ? I beg of you . please can we put aside politics and fight together to overcome disgustingly vile hate ?” actress Beth Behrs said.

Indeed there was no shortage of leftist celebrities who blamed innocent Americans for an alleged attack they had no part in, all without evidence. Check out more celebrity reactions below.
I’m horrified by the vicious attack on @JussieSmollett Not surprised that the cowards in masks yelled “This is MAGA country.” Our country deserves better than the kind of morally bankrupt people who have taken our democracy hostage and condone hate crimes. Sending love to Jussie.

The horrific story of Jussie Smollet makes this important point:
While some are whipping up tales of danger coming over the border, the real and documented danger to America is coming from home-grown right-wing racist, homophobic and antisemitic movements.

Stelter claimed that the story had been thoroughly “weaponized” by conservative media. He made a distinction between “strong, high quality news organizations” and their competitors, apparently living in an alternate reality in which CNN is the former.
The CNN host revised history, trying to claim that the mainstream media had covered the story carefully with an appropriate amount of skepticism. In reality, outlets such as CNN treated Smollett’s account with credibility from the get-go, only questioning the story when it became clear police were investigating the possibility of a hoax. Stelter went on to say that the story had been effectively weaponized by “random websites all over the web.”
Stelter left it unclear exactly what was “weaponized-” it’s possible he’s simply uncomfortable having to admit that mainstream media were exposed as naive dupes once again by their alternative media competitors.
CNN’s coverage of the incident is somewhat reminiscent of their reaction to another hate hoax, the now-discredited smears against the boys of Covington Catholic High School. In both incidents, the fake news network treated a narrative invented by progressives as factual when there was more than enough evidence to suggest it was less than truthful.
CNN presenter Don Lemon spoke of texting and calling Smollett every day in the aftermath of the fake “attack.” His exchange with the likely hoaxer doesn’t seem to have led him to consider that the attack, which was clearly unlikely to have occurred in the manner Smollett described from the beginning, was fake.
