The End of States! Warren Calls for Federal Government Intervention to Keep Abortion Legal

CAP

By Penny Starr

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is calling for Congress to create and pass legislation that would make access to abortion mandatory across the United States.

Like many of her Democrat colleagues running for the 2020 presidential nomination, Warren is reacting to Alabama banning abortion and several other states poised to follow suit, most recently Missouri.

“These extremist Republican lawmakers know what the law is — but they don’t care,” Warren wrote in a commentary posted on the Medium website on Friday. “They want to turn back the clock, outlaw abortion, and deny women access to reproductive health care. And they are hoping the Supreme Court will back their radical play.”

And she blames Trump for the nation’s increasingly pro-life stance, including that he “stole” a seat on the United States Supreme Court.

“I’ll be blunt: It just might work,” Warren wrote. “President Trump has packed the courts with extreme, anti-choice judges. Senate Republicans stole a Supreme Court seat and rammed through the confirmation of Justice Kavanaugh last year in order to cement an anti-choice majority on the Supreme Court.”

Warren claims, falsely, the abortion and “reproductive rights” are guaranteed in the Constitution. The court applied the Fourth Amendment’s right for citizens’ privacy to make legal abortion on demand the law of the land.

And because Warren and other pro-abortion politicians and activists know that the Roe V. Wade decision comes under renewed scrutiny by the high court, the law could be undone.

Her answer: federal government intervention that would stifle states’ right to make abortion laws, including lifting the ban on federal funding of abortions.

“Congress should pass new federal laws that protect access to reproductive care from right-wing ideologues in the states,” Warren wrote. “Federal laws that ensure real access to birth control and abortion care for all women. Federal laws that will stand no matter what the Supreme Court does.”

Government intervention would include:

  • Create federal, statutory rights that parallel the constitutional right in Roe v. Wade.

  • Pass federal laws to preempt state efforts that functionally limit access to reproductive health care.

  • Guarantee reproductive health coverage as part of all health coverage.

In her commentary, Warren inadvertently revealed how pro-life the nation is becoming, including 55 laws restricting abortion have been passed by state legislatures and 18 states have laws in place to kick in if the Roe decision. And 90 percent of counties in the country do not have an abortion clinic, according to data from 2014.

“This is a dark moment,” Warren wrote. “People are scared and angry. And they are right to be. But this isn’t a moment to back down – it’s time to fight back.”

QATAR-RUN AL JAZEERA POSTS VIDEO ATTACKING ALABAMA LAW. THE MIDDLE EASTERN COUNTRY JAILS WOMEN FOR ABORTION

  • Gov. Kay Ivey signed the Alabama Human Life Protection Act into law Wednesday.

  • Al Jazeera posted a Facebook video that shows a woman explaining why the legislation endangers women.

Middle Eastern news outlet Al Jazeera posted a Facebook video portraying Alabama abortion legislation as dangerous, but Al Jazeera’s home country of Qatar imprisons women for unauthorized abortions.

The Facebook video describes abortion legislation, H.B. 314, the state’s governor signed into law Wednesday. “People are going to die,” Helmi Henkin, an abortion rights activist, said in the video posted Wednesday.

Al Jazeera is based out of Doha, Qatar, a country where abortions are not permitted in almost all cases. Qatari law mandates that women who procure abortions “without medical necessity” be sentenced up to three years of prison time, according to the Al Meezan Qatar Legal Portal. Men or doctors who procure abortions for Qatari women can be sentenced to 10 years of prison time.

Qatar is one out of 33 developing countries that ban abortion except in cases where abortions would preserve the health of the mother, according to a 2017 report from the Guttmacher Institute, a nonprofit that globally pushes sexual and reproductive health and rights. Guttmacher noted Qatar makes exceptions for abortions when there are fetal anomalies, which are commonly referred to as birth defects that could affect the pregnancy or the child’s quality of life.

“BREAKING,” Al Jazeera tweeted Tuesday. “Alabama’s Senate voted to outlaw abortion. The law: – Makes performing abortion a felony – Does not make exemptions for rape, incest – Only allows abortions to prevent serious health risk to the mother – Would go into law 6 months after the governor signs it.”

A Syria policy adviser for the charity Help Refugees, Oz Katerji, responded in a tweet. “In Qatar, abortions are only legal if the pregnancy threatens the life of the mother. Women who receive an ‘unauthorised’ abortion face 5 years in jail,” Katerji said.

“I respect a lot of the work AJ do, and I think it is crucial that people unite in condemnation of this barbarism taking place in US states, but the hypocrisy here is staggering,” Katerji continued.

“Opponents to the law have been very vociferous in their outcry, saying that this would punish rape victims and it would push women to seek abortions underground in unsafe procedures,” Al Jazeera correspondent Heidi Zhou-Castro said, according to an Al Jazeera article. The article includes perspectives of those both for and against H.B. 314.

The Alabama Senate passed H.B. 314 Tuesday, a near-total ban on abortions that makes no exceptions for victims of rape or incest. Republican Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey signed the bill into law. The law, which will take effect in six months, is the most restrictive abortion law in the U.S. (RELATED: Alabama’s Near-Total Abortion Ban Spares Women, Would Send Abortion Doctors To Prison)

The only exception is for when “abortion is necessary in order to prevent a serious health risk,” according to the bill’s text. All other abortion procedures are classified under the new law as Class A felonies, punishable by up to 99 years in prison. The abortion provider would be charged with the felony, but the mother would not be charged.

“Today, I signed into law the Alabama Human Life Protection Act, a bill that was approved by overwhelming majorities in both chambers of the Legislature,” Ivey said in a statement. “To the bill’s many supporters, this legislation stands as a powerful testament to Alabamians’ deeply held belief that every life is precious and that every life is a sacred gift from God.”

‘Bama Democrat: Doug Jones Privately Told Me I Was ‘Right’ on ‘Kill ‘em Now’ Abortions

CAP

By Kyle Morris

In an interview on Talk 99.5’s Matt & Aunie Show Monday morning, Alabama State Rep. John Rogers (D) claimed Sen. Doug Jones (D-AL) agreed with his remarks last week on abortion but was furious because it caused stress to his re-election campaign.

During the interview, Rogers described a phone call between himself and Sen. Jones after he made the remarks on abortion.

“Everybody who knows me knows I’m combative,” Rogers stated. “And I told Doug that if you want to come out against me, I’m coming out here against you.”

Rogers then said Jones was “right” in his remarks, but he had to “come out against” him for political reasons.

“He called me twice. He told me, ‘John, I know you’re right but I have to come out against you,’” Rogers said as he described the phone call. “I said, ‘OK, fine, if it’s going to help your campaign, do that.’ That’s the kind of guy I am.”

Rogers said Jones called him back a second time and was “heated.”

“He called back and I didn’t know that somebody was trying to call me at the same time, you know sometimes lines get crossed up, and they heard Doug hollering and shouting. And they called me themselves, and I’ll tell you who it was: Frank Matthews.”

According to Yellowhammer News, Matthews is a “prominent social justice activist in Jefferson County and a longtime fixture in the area’s Democratic politics.”

“He said, ‘John, wasn’t that Doug Jones hollering at you?’ And I said, ‘Yes it was.’ I wasn’t going to tell him a lie,” Rogers stated. “I said I told Doug, ‘Doug, bye. I’m not ready to talk to you because you cannot apologize for me.’ I do my own apologies.”

Rogers affirmed that Jones was “heated” and then impersonated Jones’s remarks and behavior.

“‘John, John, John, be quiet — shut up. You’re killin’ me, you’re killin’ me,’” Rogers said. “He even said I don’t speak for Alabamians. I never said I spoke for Alabamians. I speak for my district.”

Rogers added, “You don’t chastise me, holler at me like that. He issued an apology for me. I told Doug Jones, I said, ‘bye.’ I’m not talking to you, we don’t have to talk anymore. Because I don’t appreciate that… you don’t chastise me… hollering and shouting because I’m hurting your re-election. It’s bigger than re-election, what I was talking about.”

“Doug Jones was a good friend of mine,” Rogers said in regards to the situation. “I said, ‘was.’ And that’s how I feel about it right now.”

PENNSYLVANIA REP. BRIAN SIMS BERATES ‘OLD WHITE LADY’ FOR PROTESTING ABORTUARY, ATTACKS HER RELIGION

Pennsylvania Rep. Brian Sims Berates 'Old White Lady' For Protesting Abortuary, Attacks Her Religion

Pennsylvania state Rep Brian Sims, a vocal homosexual activist, filmed himself berating an “old white lady” for legally and lawfully protesting a Planned Parenthood in southeastern Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania state Rep Brian Sims, a vocal homosexual activist, filmed himself berating an “old white lady” for legally and lawfully protesting a Planned Parenthood in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Sims shared the video on social media last week in order to bask in praise from his cult-like followers. The elderly woman tried to walk away from him to stop being harassed but Sims insisted on following her and attacking her for her religious beliefs.

From The Daily Caller:

“Today’s protester, now she is an old white lady who is going to try to avoid showing you her face,” Sims begins as he points the camera toward the woman. “But the same laws, luckily, that protect her from being out here also protect me from showing you who she is. And so my hope is that you’ll donate $100 for every extra hour that this woman is out here telling people what is right for their bodies.”

“How many children have you clothed today?” Sims shouted at the woman as she tried to keep her back turned. “How about many children have you put shoes on their feet today? Have you fed any children today or have you just stood out in front of a Planned Parenthood shaming people for something they have a Constitutional right to do.”

“Who’d have thought that an old lady would be outside a Planned Parenthood telling people what is right for their bodies,” he said. “What you are doing here is disgusting. This is wrong. You have no business being out here.”

The taunting continued:

Shame on you! Shame! Shame! There’s no faith that tells you you are right and everybody else is wrong.

Don’t convince yourself that what you are doing isn’t extremely racist

At one point when the camera appeared close, the woman turned and told Sims to get the camera “out of my face.”

“No! No!” he responded as she appeared to make a call. “You have a problem protesting in public, don’t protest in public.”

“Let’s go protest out in front of her house and tell her what’s right for her body,” he told her. “This is a racist act of judgement.”

He went on to attack her for being a Christian.

Had Sims done this to an “old black Muslim lady” he’d likely be criminally charged for racial and religious incitement.

Instead, because he’s a privileged member of the ruling class who can shield himself by claiming to be an “oppressed minority,” he’s allowed to berate a powerless, elderly Christian woman for peacefully taking a stand against killing babies.

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has a tough guy on its hands.

By

A Democrat member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives filmed himself confronting Planned Parenthood protestors and offered internet users money to dox three teenage girls.

“Watch PA Rep [Brian Sims] offer up $100 for the identities & addresses of 3 TEENAGERS who are fighting for the lives of preborn [sic] children. This is despicable,” Live Action said on Twitter, sharing Sims’ video.

“What we’ve got here is a bunch of protestors,” Sims said in his video outside of a Pennsylvania Planned Parenthood. “A bunch of pseudo-Christian protestors. They’re out here shaming young girls for being here. So here’s the deal – I’ve got $100 for anyone who will identify any of these three, that I will donate to Planned Parenthood.”

He pointed his camera directly at three teenage girls, who were outside with an older lady who explained that they were simply “praying for the babies.”

It is unclear when the video was taken.

“So look,” he continued. “A bunch of white people standing outside a Planned Parenthood shaming people. There’s nothing Christian about what you’re doing. There’s nothing Christian, or Godly, or loving about what you’re doing.”

He then approached a man and told him that – instead of having the internet dox him – it would be easier if the man just gave up his name and address. When the man proudly gave him his name and hometown, the lawmaker switched up his tactics.

“What makes you think it’s okay to tell women what’s right for their bodies? The truth is, I’m not really asking, because I don’t care. Shame on you,” he said before the man could answer.

Sunday, a video surfaced of Sims harassing an elderly woman as she prayed silently outside a Planned Parenthood.

Alabama Dem on Abortion: ‘You Kill Them Now, Or You Kill Them Later’ (VIDEO)

The comments drew the ire of high-profile conservatives.

By

A Democrat Senator Representative in Alabama made some eyebrow-raising comments during the state legislature’s ongoing debate over a potential abortion ban.

“Some kids are unwanted, so you kill them now or you kill them later,” Rep. John Rogers said. “You bring them in the world unwanted, unloved, and you send them to the electric chair. So, you kill them now or you kill them later.”

“Some parents can’t handle a child with problems,” he continued. “It could be retarded. It might have no arms and no legs.”

Rogers’ comment drew the ire of high-profile conservatives, including Donald Trump Jr.

“This is stomach curling and makes Ralph Northam look like a moderate on abortion,” he said on Twitter. “Every Democrat running for President needs to be asked where they stand on this. The extreme turn we’ve seen from Dems on abortion recently is truly sickening.”

The bill, which would criminalize abortions except in cases where the mother’s life is in danger, passed the Alabama House.
