Being “under siege” from Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin has earned George Soros the FT’s ‘person of the year’ title. Eyebrows were raised over the not-at-all biased description of the billionaire as a champion of democracy.

For thirty years, liberal businessman and philanthropist Soros has used his vast wealth to crusade against“authoritarianism, racism and intolerance,” the FT profile reads.

Armed with his expansive grant-giving network, Open Societies Foundations (OSF), the Hungarian-American spread his influence to some 100 countries across the globe. The NGO currently has annual expenditures of over $940 million, with 26 national and regional foundations and offices.

There’s hardly a question over whether the Soros-funded apparatus is doing the right thing. The first paragraph of the story says it just “helped thwart an allegedly corrupt nuclear power plant contract with Russia” – a feat to be admired in the liberal world.

“We haven’t stopped having a beneficial influence,” Soros is then quoted as saying.

But there’s a worrying trend for the Democrat mega-donor, passionate advocate for open borders and outspoken critic of Brexit. More and more detractors see his work as an existential threat to conservative values and even state sovereignty.

The “standard bearer of liberal democracy and open society” has found his ideals “under siege” as he “has attracted the wrath of authoritarian regimes and, increasingly, the national populists who continue to gain ground,” writes FT.

At one point Soros sounds a bit more critical of himself than the paper, as he acknowledges he’s a divisive figure, something he still believes indicates his effectiveness as an activist.

“I’m blamed for everything, including being the anti-Christ,” Soros says. “I wish I didn’t have so many enemies, but I take it as an indication that I must be doing something right.”

Soros wasn’t joking. Hungarian lawmaker Andras Aradszki of the Christian Democratic People’s Party (KDNP) once declared that it is a Christian’s duty to oppose Soros’ calls for Europe to take in asylum seekers from Africa and the Middle East – what Aradszki called Satan’s Soros plan.” The lawmaker added that “Soros and his comrades want to destroy the independence and values of nation states.”

In May, the OSF ended its operations in Hungary, citing an “increasingly repressive political and legal environment.” A month later, Hungary’s parliament passed the ‘Stop Soros’ law which threatens jail time for anyone helping illegal immigrants claim asylum.

Hungarian PM Viktor Orban accused Soros of attempting to use mass migration to undermine Europe’s stability.

“Soros has antagonized not only us but also England, President Trump and Israel too,” Orban said in February.“Everywhere he wants to get migration accepted. It won’t work. We are not alone and we will fight together… and we will succeed.”

In the UK, the billionaire has been sharply criticized for his donations of over £800,000 ($1,062,000) to pro-EU campaigns. The pledges included £400,000 to Best for Britain, a campaign group that has been at the forefront of anti-Brexit activism.

The businessman’s activities have received similar hostility in the United States, where some have accused him of providing assistance to the so-called “migrant caravan” which made its way from Central America to the US’ southern border. “The venom, long concealed among extreme right networks, has leaked into the mainstream,” laments the FT.

Capture

Soros, along with other notable critics of Donald Trump, such as former President Barack Obama, the Clintons and CNN, was recently targeted by an alleged pipe bomb mailed to his home in New York.

A prominent backer of the Democratic Party, Soros has called Trump a “danger to the world,” and once (wrongly) bet that stocks would collapse if Donald won presidency. The bet reportedly cost him $1 billion – quite affordable for the investor who is currently worth $8.3 billion after his 2017 transfer of $18 billion to the OSF.

For a man who made billions short-selling the UK pound sterling and has been accused of several more currency crises in Asia, FT’s Soros comes across as a wise old benefactor “looking beyond his formidable legacy” in his “twilight years.”

But for all the accolades, the paper may have forgotten that the businessman has long had his sights set on a title more ambitious than merely the ‘person’ of the year. In a 1993 interview with the UK Independent, Soros actually confessed that he suffers from a god complex.

“It is a sort of disease when you consider yourself some kind of god, the creator of everything, but I feel comfortable about it now since I began to live it out,” he said.

Politician reprimanded for using the word “illegal migration” in the European Parliament

By EMMA R. 19 December 2018

An EU Commission official was put in place when he spoke in Parliament’s LIBE committee last week.

He used the term “illegal migration” repeatedly regarding people who come to Europe without legal basis.

Claude Moraes, a British member and chairman of the group, gave him a reprimand.

“The correct terminology is irregular, not illegal. You are not illegal until you are convicted,” he said.

The Danish People’s Party member of the committee, Anders Vistisen, asked Claude Moraes to explain where it says that one must not say illegal.

“The word illegal immigrant is used in the Lisbon Treaty, so why can’t we say it in Parliament?”, Vistisen wanted to know.

Morales replied that it has been Parliament’s “position” for the last 10 years.

Anders Vistisen finds it appalling that the EU Parliament bans certain words:

“It clearly shows that the EU is unable to solve its migration problems. The first prerequisite for dealing with a problem is to talk about it. If we can’t even talk freely and call things by their proper name, we have an extremely long way to go.”

Anders Vistisen calls the debate in Parliament “out of touch with reality” and “severely contact phobic”:

“It is a parallel universe where certain attitudes are frowned upon and words are banned because they don’t fit the agenda.”

“And Danish politicians who are talking about EU solutions in the field of migration therefore feel that there is censorship of the debate and denial of the problems”, he says.

FRANCE: ‘YELLOW VESTS’ SET FOR 5TH WEEKEND OF DEMONSTRATIONS

France: 'Yellow Vests' Set For 5th Weekend of Demonstrations

But some members call for truce after Strasbourg terror attack

 | Infowars.com – DECEMBER 14, 2018

Members of the ‘gilets jaunes’ – the anti-globalist yellow vest movement sweeping France – have announced that they will partake in a 5th round of demonstrations this weekend, although others have called for a truce after Tuesday night’s terror attack in Strasbourg.

Despite President Macron bowing to some of their demands during a live televised speech on Monday, the revolt is far from over, with more protests planned for Saturday.

8,000 police officers will be deployed in Paris, while 89,000 police and gendarmes will be deployed throughout the country.

The government has called on the yellow vests to pause their activities so police can concentrate on criminals and terrorists, with Minister of the Interior, Christophe Castaner commenting, “Frankly, I can tell you that I would rather see the police doing their real job, that is to say, prosecute criminals, reduce the risk of terrorism, rather than having to secure roundabouts where a few thousand people are mobilizing.”

However, Pierre-Gaël Laveder, spokesman of the yellow vests in Montceau-les-Mines (Saone-et-Loire), dismissed such talk as “government propaganda,” insisting, “act 5 will take place Saturday” and that “We know that several unions are starting to wake up, dockworkers, railway workers, tax agents, local industry … Saturday could be a great day.”

Chantal Perrotin, a yellow vests leader in the Rhônes-Alpes region, said the gilets jaunes were not indifferent to what happened in Strasbourg, but that more rallies should take place because Macron has yet to address demands for direct democracy and wage increases.

Another member, Benjamin Francois Cauchy, said a halt in the protests was necessary to maintain the support of the public, commenting, “The truce is indispensable to prevent the movement from losing the sympathy of public opinion.”

Another spokesperson, Jacline Mouraud, called for a truce, arguing, “There is progress, an open door.”

While it’s certain that there will be protests this weekend, their numbers look set to be a lot smaller than previous weekends.

While 81% don’t want more migration, European leaders shamefully ignored the will of the people by signing the UN Pact

New research indicates people want less migration, not more – 81% want the opposite of the UN Pact signed Monday

At about the same time that Merkel and other globalist leaders were celebrating the controversial UN Migration Compact in Marrakesh, Morocco, on Monday, Pew Research Center published its new findings on how citizens feel about the impact of immigration in 27 different countries around the world.

The results confirm what true democratic leaders did by rejecting the Marrakesh deal: countries like America, Hungary, Italy, and almost a dozen others chose to listen to its people’s desire for LESS migration instead of more.

Pew Research states in its paper that “as the number of international migrants reaches new highs, people around the world show little appetite for more migration.”

In fact the median of 27 such disparate countries as Argentina, Indonesia, India and Israel that want less immigration was 45%. A further 36% of interviewees said that current immigration rates are enough whilst only 14% wanted more immigration.

So while the UN is pushing hard for millions more to immigrate globally, a full 81% of citizens interviewed in these countries say they do not want more, and most of them want fewer immigrants.

A recent Gallup poll indicated that up to 750 million people – one tenth of the planet’s population – want to migrate permanently to another country, which would cause untold havoc on Western countries’ welfare systems and societies.

So whilst unelected bureaucrats keep driving the narrative that Western countries need more immigrants to “survive”, it is becoming clear that people everywhere are diametrically opposed to this view.

What is also clear is that there is a growing populist movement, mostly right wing, which has finally started listening to its citizens – thus Democracy, one where votes actually matter, may be seeing a comeback.

Finnish MP compares the European Union to fascist Germany in the 40s

By

During a parliamentary debate, Finnish MP Ville Tavio of the nationalist Finns party, has asserted as reported by Finnish national broadcaster Yle: “Federalists are threatening the people of Europe and the nation state. They create a new kind of Soviet Union, they create a new Nazi Germany”.

He’s received criticism from fellow politicians, as well as from the Prime Minister Juha Sipilä. The Finns, Ville’s party, are not disavowing the statement about the “fascist” likeness of European globalism, calling it a “new form of fascism”.

He explains that he believes that the Finns were unaware of the globalist agenda when they voted to join the EU in the 1990s. The 34-year-old politician’s statement has sparked a major debate with politicians on both the left and the right having a strong response.

The Finns, who used to be called True Finns and still is their name in both of Finland’s official languages of Swedish and Finnish, are the Finnish right-wing nationalists and EU-sceptic party.

They have stood with Ville regarding the comment, the group chairperson Leena Meri stating: “I understood it in the way that Tavio was aiming at the EU’s megalomania, that nothing is ever enough. He didn’t offend any person in particular, but criticised the entire institution as such”.

Not journalism but propaganda: Fact-checkers turn on Facebook for spreading its own fake news

Not journalism but propaganda: Fact-checkers turn on Facebook for spreading its own fake news

Journalist fact-checkers who signed up for a controversial partnership with social media giant Facebook to combat fake news are abandoning ship citing ethical concerns and shady practices.

The fact-checkers became disillusioned with Facebook after the company ignored requests for meaningful data that showed the impact of the anti-fake news initiatives. Participating journalists anecdotally reported minimal results and Facebook allegedly did nothing to assuage their concerns.

Facebook began courting journalists and roughly 40 media partners, including AP, Snopes, and Politifact for the project in the aftermath of the 2016 US presidential elections but despite the noble intentions and lofty goals, research and anecdotal evidence suggest the debunking had little effect. Facebook’s hiring of the Definers PR firm to smear critics was the final straw for many disillusioned do-gooders.

They are more interested in making themselves look good and passing the buck … They clearly don’t care.”

Binkowski went one step further, accusing the platform of spreading its own fake news and pressuring debunkers to help Facebook’s advertising partners.

“I strongly believe that they are spreading fake news on behalf of hostile foreign powers and authoritarian governments as part of their business model,” Binkowski said. “I was bringing up Myanmar over and over and over… They were absolutely resistant.”

In addition, fact-checkers received increased death threats and harassment from members of the online far-right as well as conservatives who accused both Snopes and Facebook of exhibiting a left wing bias.

“They threw us under the bus at every opportunity,” Binkowski said. A Facebook spokesperson claimed the company is now offering journalist safety training for partners.

Kim LaCapria, a former content manager and fact-checker with Snopes, also left due to the malign influence Facebook was exerting. She accused the company of giving the “appearance of trying to prevent damage without actually doing anything.”

She claimed that on more than one occasion she and her colleagues found themselves wasting their time debunking satire websites or debunking information that affected Facebook advertisers.

She also decried the financial arrangement Facebook has with Snopes. “That felt really gross,” she said. “You’re not doing journalism anymore. You’re doing propaganda.”

ALSO ON RT.COMFacebook spied on Android users’ calls & texts while pretending to care about privacy

Several media partners became jaded when it emerged that Facebook had conducted a smear campaign tying opponents to billionaire Jewish philanthropist George Soros.

“Why should we trust Facebook when it’s pushing the same rumors that its own fact-checkers are calling fake news?” said a current Facebook fact-checker who was not authorized to speak publicly about their news outlet’s partnership.

It’s worth asking how do they treat stories about George Soros on the platform knowing they specifically pay people to try to link political enemies to him?

UN countries adopt the Migration Pact and applaud themselves for several minutes

By Emma R. – December 2018

UN Member States have now approved the globalist migration pact, which is said to make all migration a human right.

The agreement was passed to a several minutes long applause, when world leaders and the UN’s upper management met at the Marrakesh conference in Morocco, which began Monday.

Strong criticism has been directed at the agreement over the last few weeks, and several countries have withdrawn.

Screen Shot 2018-12-11 at 12.00.39 PM

But the criticism came too late, because now the agreement has been approved.

“I do not hear any objections. The text is adopted”, said meeting chairman Nasser Bourita at the UN conference on Monday. After that applause followed for several minutes.

The countries that withdrew from the meeting claim, among other things, that the agreement will promote more migration and restrict the national sovereignty of states.

According to them, the agreement makes no distinction between refugees and illegal migrants, and migration is made a human right. The pact’s defenders have claimed that the agreement is not legally binding.

But even politically binding agreements can ultimately have legal consequences. Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said that future legal cases will use the document as a reference point.

Fired FBI Director James Comey Calls on Americans to “Use Every Breath We Have” to Oust President Trump

Fired FBI Director James Comey called on all Americans to “use every breath we have” to oust President Donald J. Trump as President during a speech Sunday in New York City.

Comey has been leading this mission since at least 2016 while during a presidential campaign the FBI, Department of Justice, Obama administration and foreign allies spied on President Trump and his campaign, family and business.

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace interviewed Comey at the 92Y event last night.

Comey also said President Trump told him in private that he wanted him to drop the Michael Flynn investigation.
Comey said it was very disturbing.

CNN reported:

Former FBI Director James Comey asked American voters Sunday night to end Donald Trump’s presidency with a “landslide” victory for his opponent in 2020.

“All of us should use every breath we have to make sure the lies stop on January 20, 2021,” Comey told an audience at the 92nd Street Y on New York City’s Upper East Side. He all but begged Democrats to set aside their ideological differences and nominate the person best suited to defeating Trump in an election.

“I understand the Democrats have important debates now over who their candidate should be,” Comey told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace, “but they have to win. They have to win.”

Over the course of more than an hour, Comey repeatedly derided Trump’s character, again likening the atmosphere around the President to what he saw in prosecuting mafia figures and suggested that Trump’s tweets could eventually amount to witness tampering. Asked if Trump might be an unindicted co-conspirator in some of the crimes recently described by special counsel Robert Mueller, Comey said he didn’t know, “but if he’s not there, he’s certainly close.”
