Bernie Sanders: Joe Biden Supported Iraq War, NAFTA and TPP — I Opposed Them

By Jeff Poor

Monday on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), a candidate for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, reacted to former Vice President Joe Biden’s candidacy for the 2020 Democratic nod, as well.

Sanders pointed out the contrasts between him and Biden on trade and foreign policy.

“Well, look, I’m running against, I think, 19 other people,” Sanders said. “So I’m concerned about everybody. But I think when people take a look at my record versus Vice President Biden’s record, I helped lead the fight against NAFTA. He voted for NAFTA. I helped lead the fight against PNTR with China. He voted for it.”

“I strongly opposed the Trans-Pacific Partnership,” he continued. “He supported it. I voted against the war in Iraq. He voted for it.  So I think what I hope, Anderson, what this campaign is about — and I have to tell you, I like Joe Biden. Joe is a friend of mine. But I think what we need to do with all of the candidates, have an issue-oriented campaign, not personal attacks, but talk about what we have done in our political lives, what we want to do as president, and how we’re going to transform our economy so that it works for all of us and not just the 1 percent.”

Biden says Obama White House was ‘scandal-free’… Here’re some of the BIGGER ones he drew a blank on

CAP

The White House had “not one whisper of scandal” under President Barack Obama – that’s what former VP Joe Biden would have one believe as a selling point for his presidential run. Wait, is that the sound of fact-checkers typing?

“The thing I’m proudest of,” Biden said on Friday of his time at Obama’s right hand, “Not one single whisper of scandal…not one, and that’s because of Barack.”

Biden was speaking on ‘The View,’ a day after announcing his campaign for the presidency in 2020. The studio audience cheered and host Joy Behar chimed in, calling Barack Obama “amazing.” Of course, Biden is hardly going to besmirch his former partner on live television, and the view of presidents past tends to soften once they’ve left office.

But one has to wonder if the busy liberal fact-checkers would want to correct the Democrats’ favorite candidate, as his administration racked up its fair share of scandals during Obama’s eight years at the helm. Here’re three of the biggest:

Attack of the drones

CAP

The escalation of drone warfare and the targeted killings of American citizens are some of the biggest and blackest marks on the Obama administration. Although Obama was not the first US president to deploy drones on the battlefield, he was a drone enthusiast from the outset, describing the killer robots as “effective,” “indispensable,” and “the only game in town,”and personally authorizing more strikes in his first year than George W. Bush did in his entire eight years in office.

The whole world became a battlefield. Drone strikes targeted enemies and innocents alike in Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Libya, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Of these strike zones, only Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria were active battlefields. At least four American citizens were killed, including a 16-year-old boy in Yemen, struck two weeks after his father.

CAP

A grand total of 563 strikes killed between 384 and 807 civilians in non-battlefield countries, according to figures from the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.

Technically, it was all legal, of course – after the law in question was written by executive branch lawyers and hidden from Congress and the public.

Fast and Furious

CAP

This Fast and Furious had nothing to do with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Instead, it was a ‘gunwalking’ scandal that Obama and then-Attorney General Eric Holder desperately tried to keep a lid on. In 2009, the Department of Justice came up with the amazingly bright idea of letting firearms – including .50 caliber rifles powerful enough to rip apart an engine block – fall into the hands of Mexican drug cartels, supposedly as a means of tracking them.

The plan backfired. Federal agents lost track of most of the 2,000 guns, which wound up being used in murders on both sides of the border, including the slaying of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry in 2010.

ALSO ON RT.COM’Fast & Furious’ cartel hitman who killed Border Patrol agent arrested in MexicoBut the Obama administration was non-apologetic. Instead, when the Republican-controlled House kicked up a stink, Holder sought to withhold documents relating to the scandal under subpoena, and Obama later withheld them under executive privilege when Holder was cited for contempt of Congress.

Years later, Mexican authorities are still finding ‘Fast and Furious’ guns at cartel crime scenes. One of the 19 weapons found at the hideout of notorious drug kingpin Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman in 2016 was a gun knowingly allowed into Mexico by the Justice Department.

Spy games – allied edition

CAP

As a Senator, Barack Obama condemned the Bush-era Patriot Act for violating the rights of American citizens. Once in office, he renewed the act, allowing intelligence agencies to carry out ‘roving wiretaps’ on American citizens and collect billions of phone call and text message records every year.

Much has been written about Obama’s expansion of the surveillance state, and his administration’s scattergun use of the 1917 Espionage Act to prosecute whistleblowers like NSA contractor Edward Snowden, but perhaps most personally embarrassing was the revelation – via WikiLeaks – that the US government spied on German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s phone calls.

CAP

In an angry exchange with Obama, Merkel compared the US National Security Agency (NSA) to the dreaded East German Stasi. Suitably chastised, did Obama move to disarm the US’ surveillance apparatus before leaving office?

Nope. Days after Obama’s January 2017 farewell speech, then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch signed an order giving the NSA additional powers to share intercepted communications with the US’s 16 other intelligence agencies. These communications include internet traffic intercepted through the NSA’s dragnet ‘PRISM’ program, and phone, email, and satellite transmissions gathered abroad.

When it comes to totting up the scandals of the Obama years, honorable mention goes to the Benghazi attack that killed ambassador Chris Stevens, Hillary Clinton’s email server scandal, arming jihadist rebels in Syria, and if Republicans are to be believed, authorizing an FBI spying operation on the Trump campaign in 2016.

But Joe Biden would have the voters believe that it is Donald Trump who “will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation.”

Watch: Self-Loathing Democrats Triggered Top Candidates Are White Males

‘Why do you think white, male candidates are doing better than any of the women candidates?’

Infowars.com – APRIL 26, 2019

This compilation video highlights mainstream media’s outrage over the Democratic Party’s overwhelming masculine whiteness, as four of the top seven 2020 Democrat presidential candidates are white males.

“Women have become somewhat overshadowed by white, male candidates,” said one MSNBC anchor.

Another MSNBC host added, “It bothers me a little bit that those are three white males, we need to talk about more diversity.”

Former Vice President Joe Biden received the endorsement of three U.S. Senators shortly after announcing his 2020 presidential campaign on Thursday morning.

In a pair of statements, Sens. Chris Coons (D-DE) and Bob Casey (D-PA) were first to back the 76-year-old Biden’s bid.

“Joe Biden doesn’t just talk about making our county more just, he delivers results,” Coons said in an interview with the Associated Press.

Casey took to social media to announce his support, tweeting: “I am proud to endorse my friend, Joe Biden, for President.”

Further, Casey said in a statement to the Associated Press that “America needs” Biden to be president, contending: “At this make-or-break moment for the middle class, our children and our workers, America needs Vice President Joe Biden to be its next President.”

Sen. Doug Jones (D-AL) joined Coons and Casey in supporting Biden, saying in a statement that he believes the former vice president can “bring people together” and “find common ground while standing up for what he believes is right.”

In a video shared to social media, Biden, a native of Scranton, Pennsylvania, who served as a senator for Delaware for over three decades, announced Thursday that he would be entering an ever-crowded Democrat primary field for president.

“If we give Donald Trump eight years in the White House, he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation — who we are — and I cannot stand by and watch that happen,” Biden claimed in his announcement video.

“Everything that has made America America is at stake,” he went on. “That’s why today I’m announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.”

JOE BIDEN LAUNCHES HIS CAMPAIGN ON THE LIE THAT TRUMP SAID NEO-NAZIS WERE “VERY FINE PEOPLE”

Joe Biden Launches His Campaign on the Lie That Trump Said Neo-Nazis Were "Very Fine People"

Trump never referred to Charlottesville racists as “very fine people” – he specifically condemned them

 | Infowars.com – APRIL 25, 2019

Joe Biden launched his presidential campaign on the proven lie that Donald Trump said Neo-Nazis in Charlottesville were “very fine people”.

“He said there were, quote, ‘Some very fine people on both sides,’” said Biden in his campaign video. “Very fine people on both sides? With those words the president of the United States assigned a moral equivalence between those spreading hate and those with the courage to stand against it and in that moment I knew the threat to this nation was unlike any other I’d seen in my lifetime,” added the former Vice President.

However, as is manifestly provable, Trump never referred to neo-nazis as “very fine people” and openly condemned them on numerous occasions.

The hoax is based on the president’s Trump Tower press conference when he was asked to respond to the tragic events in Charlottesville.

“Excuse me, they didn’t put themselves down as neo-Nazis, and you had some very bad people in that group. But you also had people that were very fine people on both sides,” said Trump, before making it clear that he was referring to people protesting against the removal of a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee,” not alt-right white supremacists who subsequently hijacked the demonstration.

Trump specifically went on to condemn the alt-right mob and made it clear he was not referring to them with his “very fine people” line.

“I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and white nationalists because they should be condemned totally,” said Trump in the same press conference.

“Trump made clear several times during the conference that he was referring specifically to those who had showed up to demonstrate against the statue’s removal and that he otherwise condemned the white supremacists,” writes the Washington Examiner’s Eddie Scarry.

Real Clear Politics’ Steve Cortes also carefully explains in his article how, “Despite the clear evidence of Trump’s statements regarding Charlottesville, major media figures insist on spreading the calumny that Trump called neo-Nazis “fine people.” The only explanation for such a repeated falsehood is abject laziness or willful deception.”

Trump never referred to neo-nazis as “very fine people” and specifically condemned them on multiple occasions.

The entire foundation of Joe Biden’s presidential campaign is built on a proven hoax.

MCCAIN FAMILY TO BACK BIDEN’S 2020 BID TO DEFEAT TRUMP

McCain Family to Back Biden's 2020 Bid to Defeat Trump

Imagine my shock

 | Infowars.com – APRIL 24, 2019

Update: Cindy McCain has put out a statement saying her family won’t get involved in the 2020 presidential race.

“Joe Biden is a wonderful man and dear friend of the McCain Family. However, I have no intention of getting involved in presidential politics,” she tweeted.

CAP

Original story below:

The family of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a rabid nemesis of President Trump, has announced their intention to support former Vice President Joe Biden for the 2020 presidential race.

The McCain family is preparing to break from the Republican Party in an extraordinary snub to the president, and will formally back Biden’s candidacy at some point in the election race in hopes of removing Trump, a source close to both the Bidens and McCains reportedly said.

“They talk regularly and have been supportive of his run,” the source told Washington Examiner. “The question is going to be timing and coordinating with the Biden campaign. There are a lot of moving parts there and [Biden’s campaign is] not necessarily organized. I wouldn’t expect a formal family endorsement because some of McCain’s family is still in the military, but I do expect Cindy to speak out at some point.”

But one senior McCain aide worried if the family’s endorsement would even help Biden as the Democrat field lurches far-left.

“I’m just not sure how much that helps in a primary where the party is constantly moving towards the left. If you’re a two-term former vice president and basically tied with Bernie Sanders, that’s not a good sign,” the aide said.

The animus between the Trump and McCain family stretches back decades, which became even more bitter during the 2016 presidential race and culminated with McCain barring Trump from his funeral.

Additionally, Biden’s affection for McCain is well known, and he referred to the late senator as his “brother” during the eulogy.

“My name’s Joe Biden. I’m a Democrat. And I loved John McCain,” he had said. “The way I look at it, the way I thought about it, was that I always thought of John as a brother. We had a hell of a lot of family fights. We go a long way.”

Biden is expected to launch his 2020 campaign on Thursday, according to reports.
