On January 29, Two Hate Crimes Occurred. The Media Only Covered The Fake One. Here’s Why.

By BEN SHAPIRO

On January 29, 2019, Chicago Police opened a hate crime investigation into the alleged assault of Empire actor Jussie Smollett. Smollett, who is black and gay, alleged that two men approached him at 2 a.m. in Chicago, where they shouted “f*****” and “n*****,” tried to wrap a noose around his neck, and poured bleach on him. He also told TMZ that the men shouted, “This is MAGA country.”

(KAMALA IS THEIR NEW QUEEN. THE NEW HILLARY.) – CNN Reporter Sparks Ethics Controversy After Kamala Harris “Fashion Shoot”

By Tyler Durden

A CNN reporter covering the Kamala Harris campaign ignited a firestorm of criticism this weekend after she tweeted a video of herself helping Harris try on a colorful sequined jacket – with many questioning the reporter’s commitment to journalistic objectivity after appearing to pal around with the subject of her reporting.

The incident occurred during a campaign trip to a boutique purportedly owned by a female entrepreneur who turned to entrepreneurship as a “way out” of poverty and dire life circumstances.

In the clip, CNN national political reporter Maeve Reston can be seen laughing and joking with Harris as she helps her try on the jacket. In the caption for her tweet, Reston wrote that “we kind of forced” Harris “to try on this awesome oversized rainbow sequin jacket…She snapped it up,”

Meanwhile, CBS News political reporter Caitlin Huey-Burns also posted footage of the impromtu fashion shoot with the hasthtag #campaignfashionreport.

Fox News Brit Hume was one of the first to criticize the “journalists” for “going shopping” with the subject of their coverage, calling the incident “embarrassing.”

Though at least one other journalist who was present for the “jacket” incident stepped up to defend her colleagues by retweeting a tweet reminding the world of similar incidents involving male reporters.

The Federalists’ Maggie Hemingway joked that, if readers paid close attention, they could detect a slight difference in how the media covers different politicians.

Responding to the torrent of criticism, CBS’s Huey Burns defended her coverage by clarifying that she had asked several hard-hitting questions and that the boutique tour was part of a tour of shops run by economically disadvantaged women.

But while responses to the controversy have unsurprisingly diverged down partisan lines, at least the reporters involved can rest easy knowing that if their respective networks carry out a Buzzfeed style purge of their reporting staff, they might have a future working as fashion consultants on the Harris campaign.

THE WOLF WHO CRIED MAGA

The two Nigerian brothers arrested in connection with the assault on “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett are no longer suspects in the attack. They’re now cooperating with police.

A source close to the investigation confirms to CBS News the brothers told detectives Smollett paid them to participate in the alleged attack on January 29 and that they purchased the rope — which was found around Smollett’s neck — at a nearby hardware store. The source said detectives have evidence to corroborate the sale, something the men’s attorney alluded to Friday night.

“New evidence that was brought to their attention, obviously I had it, my clients had it,” said Gloria Schmidt, the brothers’ attorney.

The Chicago Police Department released a statement Saturday night saying information from the brothers had “shifted the trajectory of the investigation.”

“We can confirm that the information received from the individuals questioned by police earlier in the Empire case has in fact shifted the trajectory of the investigation. We’ve reached out to the Empire cast member’s attorney to request a follow-up interview.”

Smollett’s attorneys, Todd S. Pugh and Victor P. Henderson, issued a statementlate Saturday saying Smollett was “angered and devastated” by reports that he knew the people associated with the alleged attack.

“One of these purported suspects was Jussie’s personal trainer who he hired to ready him physically for a music video. It is impossible to believe that this person could have played a role in the crime against Jussie or would falsely claim Jussie’s complicity,” the statement said.

The attorneys said the actor would continue to cooperate with authorities as the investigation continues. “At the present time, Jussie and his attorneys have no inclination to respond to ‘unnamed’ sources inside of the investigation, but will continue discussions through official channels,” the statement said.

Police said the two men — identified as Ola and Abel Osundairo — were captured on surveillance video at the time that Smollett said he was attacked.

Ola Osundairo is connected to Smollett through the hit show “Empire” where he played a prisoner in season two.

Both brothers apparently left Chicago on the day of the alleged attack and were detained when they returned Wednesday. Chicago detectives tore through their apartment looking for clues, and an evidence log shows they found ropes, masks and bleach. They were released Friday night without charges.

A Chicago Police Department spokesperson said “detectives have additional investigative work to complete.”

In a recent interview with “Good Morning America,” Smollett said he was sure the men in the photo were his attackers.

“And then I see the attacker, masked. And he said, ‘This is MAGA country, n*****.’ Punches me right in the face. So, I punched his ass back,” Smollett said. “I think what people need to hear is just the truth.”

Smollett has not spoken publicly about the arrest and subsequent release of the two brothers. Earlier this week, Chicago police said Smollett was still being treated as a victim, not a suspect.

ADAM SCHIFF REFUSES TO STAND DOWN IF MUELLER FINDS NO COLLUSION

Adam Schiff Refuses to Stand Down If Mueller Finds No Collusion

‘We’re going to have to do our own investigation, and we are,’ he tells CNN

Washington Examiner – FEBRUARY 17, 2019

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., wouldn’t say Sunday if he would accept special counsel Robert Mueller being unable to find direction collusion between President Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia.

The House Intelligence Committee is embarking on a sweeping investigation into Trump’s financial transactions and Russia, and Schiff adamantly stressed that his panel will continue its work unimpeded regardless of what Mueller says.

During an interview on CNN, Schiff discussed at length all the “evidence in plain sight” of collusion he believes there is, but said “it will be up to Mueller to decide if that amounts to criminal conspiracy.”

However, when he was asked point blank if he would accept Mueller’s findings if no clear evidence of collusion is determined, Schiff demurred. Instead he focused his answer on how his committee will conduct its own inquiry and how he’ll fight to gain access to Mueller’s evidence should it be withheld from public view.

“We’re going to have to do our own investigation, and we are. We’ll certainly be very interested to learn what Bob Mueller finds. We may have to fight to get that information. Bill Barr has not been willing to commit to provide that report either to the Congress or to the American people. We’re going to need to see it,” Schiff said on “State of the Union,” referring to Trump’s newly confirmed attorney general.

“The American people need to see it. We may also need to see the evidence behind that report,” he added. “There may be, for example, evidence of collusion or conspiracy that is clear and convincing. But not proof beyond a reasonable doubt. The American people are entitled to know if there is evidence of a conspiracy between either the president or the president’s campaign and a foreign adversary. At the end of the day, the most important thing for the American people to know is whether the president is somehow compromised, whether there’s a leverage the Russians could use over the president, and if the Russians are in a position to expose wrongdoing by the president or his campaign.”

Host Dana Bash pressed Schiff again, asking if he would accept Mueller’s findings separate from his own investigation. Schiff’s response focused on the integrity of Mueller’s operation.

“You know, I will certainly accept them in this way, Dana. I have great confidence in the special counsel. And if the special counsel represents that he has investigated and not been interfered with and not been able to make a criminal case, then I will believe that he is operating in good faith,” Schiff said.

Schiff and his Democratic majority are reopening the House Intelligence Committee’s inquiry into Russian interference after the GOP-led panel in the last term completed an investigation that found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. At the time, the Democrats said the GOP-led effort wrapped prematurely.

Schiff also dismissed a recent assertion made by Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr, R-N.C., that Schiff’s panel’s Russia investigation has yet to turn up evidence of collusion. He quipped “Chairman Burr must have a different word for” collusion, citing such controversies as the infamous 2016 Trump Tower meeting and Trump campaign staffer George Papadopoulos, who last year served 12 days for lying to FBI investigators about his contact with people linked to Russia during the 2016 campaign.

‘Modern-Day Lynching:’ Booker and Kamala Didn’t Wait for the Facts in the Jussie Smollett Case

Don’t hold your breath for apologies.

By

Two 2020 presidential candidates, Sens. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) jumped at the opportunity to accuse ordinary Americans of harboring hatred for minorities in the wake of the attack on “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett.

“The vicious attack on actor Jussie Smollett was an attempted modern-day lynching. I’m glad he’s safe,” Booker said of the attack. “To those in Congress who don’t feel the urgency to pass our Anti-Lynching bill designating lynching as a federal hate crime– I urge you to pay attention.”

Harris had a similar message.

“This was an attempted modern day lynching,” she claimed. “No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate.”

Trending: Obama Declared 13 National Emergencies — 11 Are Still Active

As it turns out, the “crime” was neither a lynching attempt, nor motivated by race or sexuality. In fact, it was totally made up. Chicago police now believe that Smollett orchestrated the “attack” with two men, his “attackers.” Both are reportedly Nigerian nationals and extras on “Empire.”

Smollett’s story – that bigots yelling “this is MAGA country” beat him, wrapped a rope around his neck, and soaked him in bleach – conformed to the worldview of Harris and Booker perfectly. They believe that America is a fundamentally bad country filled with intolerant racists, and that only the progressive agenda can save America from the backwards people in “flyover country” who would commit a heinous crime like the one Smollett made up.

So they pounced (in the parlance of our times) without waiting for the facts to come to light, despicably seizing on the opportunity to race-bait, and to prove that their worldview is the correct one. They were wrong. Again.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) gets a dishonorable mention, too.

“The racist, homophobic attack on  is an affront to our humanity. No one should be attacked for who they are or whom they love. I pray that Jussie has a speedy recovery & that justice is served. May we all commit to ending this hate once & for all,” she Tweeted.

To be sure, these people do not care about Smollett, or even racism and homophobia. They care about virtue signaling to their idiotic progressive base to score cheap political points.

Fortunately for the Speaker, justice will be served. And Smollett will be on the losing end.

Kamala Harris Says She Listened To Tupac And Snoop While Smoking Weed In College. There’s Just One Problem.

By Ashe Schow

Did Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) smoke marijuana in college, or while she was arresting people for minor drug offenses?

That was the question circulating social media Monday evening, after Harris said she smoked a “joint” in college during an interview with the radio show, “The Breakfast Club.” Co-host “Charlemagne tha God” asked Harris if she had ever smoked marijuana, to which the California senator replied: “I have.”

“And I did inhale. I did inhale! It was a long time ago, but yes. I just broke loose,” Harris added. She then claimed she smoke a “joint” while in college and remembered being high.

“I think [marijuana] gives a lot of people joy,” Harris said. “And we need more joy in the world.”

When asked what music she listened to when she smoked, Harris said, “Oh yeah, definitely Snoop. Tupac for sure.”

Except, Harris graduated from Howard University in 1986, and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1989. Tupac released his first album, “2Pacalypse Now,” on November 12, 1991 — two years after Harris graduated from law school. Snoop Dogg released his first album, “Doggystyle,” on November 23, 1993 — four years after Harris graduated law school.

By the time Tupac and Snoop began releasing albums, Harris was already working as a deputy district attorney in Alameda County, CA. She started that job in 1990 and left in 1998.

So, either Harris lied about who she listened to while smoking (or, more charitably, doesn’t remember who she listened to and named the first artists she thought of), or she actually had her one “joint” while she worked as a deputy district attorney putting people away for smoking marijuana.

In her book, “The Truths We Hold,” Harris talks about her newfound support for decriminalizing marijuana.

“We need to expunge nonviolent marijuana-related offenses from the records of millions of people who have been arrested and incarcerated so they can get on with their lives,” Harris wrote.

Harris hasn’t always supported marijuana legalization. As CNN details, as recently as 2010, when Harris was San Francisco’s district attorney, she opposed legislation that would legalized marijuana in the Golden State. Her then-campaign manager, Brian Brokaw, told Capitol Weekly that Harris “believes that drug selling harms communities,” but did support the use of medical marijuana.

She continued this belief through 2015, when she spoke at the Democratic State Convention.

Earlier in her career, she worked to put nonviolent marijuana users behind bars, according to Reason’s Ed Krayewski.

‘Don’t want to get into that’: Democrats’ #MeToo double standard on Kavanaugh and Fairfax

CAP

Whether the Democrats went too hard in their pursuit of Brett Kavanaugh for alleged sexual assault, or have been too soft on fellow party member Justin Fairfax, it all amounts to the same thing – hypocrisy is an unbecoming look.

Unlike the since-confirmed Supreme Court justice, who was accused of a nearly forty-year-old crime with no verifiable dates, witnesses, circumstances or even a location, the allegations which the Virginia lieutenant governor faces are relatively recent, specific, and involve different accounts of an encounter that both parties admitted happened.

Yet, even though Fairfax accuser Vanessa Tyson hiring the same legal team as Christine Blasey Ford, among the top Democrats there hasn’t been a rush to “believe all women.”

Democrats on Kavanaugh

“I cannot sit here, I cannot participate in what I know history is going to look back on as a dark moment,” presidential candidate and New Jersey senator Cory Booker said as he explained his reasons for rejecting Kavanaugh. “You are either complicit in the evil, you are either contributing to the wrong, or you are fighting against it.”

“This is a real test for our nation to see how we treat women, especially women who are victims of sexual assault,” said senior California Senator Dianne Feinstein.

CAP

“I believe her,” said junior California Senator Kamala Harris.

“Over 150 sexual assault survivors have reached out to me to say they are dismayed by the Senate’s actions, they struggle to see empathy in the eyes of their leaders, and they now fear no one would take them seriously if they came forward with their own stories. I want them and all survivors to know this: You don’t need to suffer in silence. You deserve to be taken seriously. You deserve to be listened to,” said Virginia Senator Tim Kaine, disheartened after Kavanaugh narrowly won the confirmation vote.

“I believe Dr. Ford. Brett Kavanaugh does not belong on the Supreme Court,” said the independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

“We have to think about what it would mean if Judge Kavanaugh were to be confirmed to the Supreme Court with credible sexual assault allegations against him, Specifically what it would mean to the millions of women across America who were survivors of sexual assault, women who have been scared to come forward with their stories for fear they would be mocked, ridiculed, and shunned,” opined Senator Dick Durbin from Illinois.

Democrats on Fairfax

“I am not getting into that. I have so many things I am working on, this isn’t one of them,” saidDurbin, adding “I don’t know her” about Tyson.

“I don’t want to get into that,” said Feinstein, after saying that she “doesn’t know” who Justin Fairfax is, despite him being next in line for Virginia governorship.

“I think we should be focusing on what’s right now happening with the governor. I know you guys are going to try to focus on a lot of things right now, but right now my focus is on again calling for the governor to step down,” said Booker, changing the subject to Virginia governor Ralph Northam’s blackface scandal – though he did subsequently call for an investigation into Fairfax.

CAP

“It’s premature,” said Kaine, explaining why he isn’t calling for the resignation for Fairfax who is “someone we know real well” and “denies the charges unequivocally.”

“I haven’t had the chance to see her. I did have the chance to see Dr. Blasey Ford testify right in the room in front of me. So she had a chance to display great personal credibility. I have not seen this other witness or victim,” said Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, demanding a personal testimony before he is convinced.

“Busy with bills and focused on matters at hand right now,” said leader of Virginia House Democrats Eileen Filler-Corn. Shejust doesn’t have the time.

Russia exploited ‘racist, sexist, anti-Semitic’ US to divide people, tweets ‘insane’ Kamala Harris

Annotation 2019-02-07 155733

A California senator and media-appointed frontrunner for the 2020 Democratic nomination has finally managed to unravel the conundrum of so-called Russian ‘interference’ in the 2016 election — it’s so simple you won’t believe it.

Tweeting out her discovery, Kamala Harris explained that Russia was “able to influence” the last presidential election because it “figured out” that “racism, sexism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, and transphobia are America’s Achilles heel.”

Armed with this top secret information, Russia was “able” to turn Americans against each other in a way never before seen in history (if you conveniently forget most of history, that is).

CAP

Now, you might be thinking, if it was that easy for the Russians to take a glimpse at the various domestic tensions plaguing the US in 2016 and then use the information to (allegedly) throw an election, why didn’t the Kremlin act before now? Surely, if it was so simple, Russia could have been choosing US presidents for decades?

Annotation 2019-02-07 160053

Harris’s tweet was hailed as “important” and insightful commentary from some of her supporters and Russia-obsessed journalists, but was instantly mocked by more skeptically-minded individuals, some of whom took issue with the premise that Russia had affected the 2016 election at all.

CAP

CAP

Others joked that they thought hatred and prejudice had never existed in the US prior to Russia’s “intervention.” Some also suggested that the focus on Russia was a way to distract from the fact that Democrats lost the last election because Hillary Clinton ran a flawed campaign, rather than because of anything to do with Russia.

Somehow Russian influence didn’t matter “until Hillary lost,” another said.

CAP

Some people also took offence, as Harris’s comment appeared to be insulting Americans, implying that they are so “stupid” that “a bunch of Russians” can easily manipulate them on social media.

However, one tweet suggested that the real Achilles Heel was the fact that over 60,000 people read Harris’s tweet and hit the ‘like’ button.
