WATCH: MSNBC Panel Featuring John Brennan Calls for State of the Union to Be Cancelled

An MSNBC panel discussion led by anchor Chuck Todd and featuring disgraced CIA Director turned NBC News analyst John Brennan called for the annual State of the Union address to be cancelled over the impeachment.

Brennan claimed that President Donald Trump speaking would be “embarrassing” and “very destructive to the image of the United States worldwide.”

President Bill Clinton also gave a State of the Union address during his impeachment, but that doesn’t seem to matter to these partisan hacks.

“And you know, one of the things that I really worry about is that we’re going to have a State of the Union very shortly, while all of this is going on,” Brennan said during the panel.

Todd quickly jumped in, mockingly saying “State of our union is strong,’ who the hell is going to say that?”

“I just cannot imagine. It’s not just embarrassing, but also I think it’s very destructive to the image of the United States worldwide to have this going on and have Mr. Trump up there,” Brennan stated.

“And you can imagine he’s going to use that State of the Union address not to address the state of the union, but to address the state of Donald Trump. And he is going to, I think, be on the offensive there. So I question whether or not it makes sense to hold that at this point,” Brennan continued.

MSNBC is akin to allowing Pravda to operate on our shores at the height of the cold war.

CNN Tries To Explain Away Its Own Viewer Poll’s HUGE Numbers For Trump

CNN’s David Chalian struggled to explain why President Trump scored 76 percent “somewhat positive” or “very positive” in the cable network’s instant poll. The poll only counted “speech watchers,” Chalian explained, so Trump’s supporters might have been over-represented because they were watching the speech.

CNN seems to be having a tough night. Incidentally, the CBS News viewer poll also clocked in at exactly 76 percent approval for President Trump’s State of the Union address.

President Donald Trump urged Americans to come together to “Choose Greatness” in his State of the Union address on February 5, 2019.

“Members of Congress, the State of our Union is strong,” President Trump said as members of Congress chanted “USA! USA!”

“That sounds so good,” President Trump noted.

America is on a roll, and the only thing that can stop it is foolish wars, politics, and partisan investigations.

“We must reject the politics of revenge” and work for the “common good,” President Trump said.

“Together we can break decades of political stalemate, we can…build new coalitions.”

“The decision is ours to make. We must choose between greatness or gridlock…vision or vengeance, incredible progress or pointless destruction. Tonight I ask you to choose greatness.”

“We are just getting started.”

“Wages are rising at the fastest pace in decades, and growing for blue-collar workers.”

“Nearly 5 million Americans have been lifted off food stamps.”

“We are considered far and away the hottest economy anywhere in the world. Not even close. Unemployment has reached the lowest rate in nearly half a century.”

“African-American unemployment, Hispanic-American unemployment, and Asian-American unemployment have all reached their lowest levels ever recorded. Unemployment for people with disabilities has also reached an all-time low. More people are working now than at any time in the history of our country. 157 million people at work.”

“We are a net exporter of energy.”

President Trump focused on Christians’ ability to get off drugs. President Trump highlighted the story of Matthew Charles, the first man to be released from prison in accordance with President Trump’s First Step Act.

Relatedly, President Trump vowed to put the drug cartels out of business. Troops are at the border to meet the caravans. “This is a moral issue. The lawless state of our southern border is a threat…to all Americans,” Trump said.

Democrats live behind walls. Why can’t our country?

“Simply put: Walls work, and walls save lives,” President Trump said.

Women in the Democrat caucus gave a rousing ovation for Trump’s announcement that there are more women in the workforce than ever before. “You weren’t supposed to do that!,” the president joked. “Don’t sit yet, you’re going to like this! We now have more women serving in Congress than ever before.”

“USA! USA! USA!” Congress chanted.

“That’s great,” President Trump said.

President Trump demanded Congress pass a bill “to ban the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb.”

“We were born free, and we will stay free,” President Donald Trump vowed.

“America will never be a socialist country.”

“Great nations do not fight endless wars.”

“Our most thrilling achievements are still ahead.”

“Our biggest victories are still to come.”

“We do the incredible. We defy the impossible. We conquer the unknown. This is the time to re-ignite the American imagination.”

“This is the time to rekindle the bonds of love and loyalty…that link us together as American citizens, as neighbors, as patriots.”

“I am asking you to choose greatness…We must go forward together…We must keep America First in our hearts. We must keep freedom alive in our souls. And we must always keep faith in America’s destiny…”

“Thank you, God Bless you, and God bless America,” President Trump said.

Democrats drool over Nancy Pelosi’s ‘f**k you’ clap during Trump’s State of the Union speech

The State of the Union address was supposed to showcase President Donald Trump’s statesmanship but, according to social media, the real star of the show was Nancy Pelosi, whose sarcastic antics made her the night’s MVP #resistor.

During his 80-minute speech, Trump appealed to Americans of all ideological stripes to find common ground and embrace compromise – a message that arguably clashes with the president’s habit of roasting his political opponents on Twitter.

After Trump called on the country to “embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise and the common good,” Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, sitting behind the president, fired off a few sarcasm-dipped golf claps. The acerbic salute caused a sensation on social media, with photos of Trump and Pelosi locking eyes as she offers her feigned applause being hailed as epoch-defining treasures.

Comedian Patton Oswalt dubbed the gesture the “f**k you” clap, while others praised the House leader as a model #resistor.

Most critically, the photo’s meme potential was not overlooked.

However, Pelosi had more Twitter-shattering tricks up her sleeve. After Trump began boasting about Washington’s draconian sanctions against Iran, Pelosi was spotted flipping through what many believe was a copy of the president’s speech. Had Trump intentionally omitted his Iran-bashing from the printed transcript he gave to the Democrats, or was Pelosi just bored stiff?

The Twitterverse, of course, put forward a number of colorful theories about the speaker’s paper shuffling.

“I see Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s strategy tonight: Read the paper copy of Trump’s script when you know you can’t hold your poker face,” joked CNN producer Jason K. Morrell.

Maxine Waters doesn’t want to hear what Donald Trump has to say tonight.

The California congresswoman melted down when asked if she would be listening to Trump’s second State of the Union address this evening.

“I don’t even know why he wants to come and give the State of the Union,” Waters huffed to Essence magazine.

“The state of the union under him has not been good,” she claimed, dismissing record low unemployment rates for black Americans and strong economic activity.

“And he has been divisive, and I think he’s putting us all in harm’s way. And so he is not worthy of being listened to,” Waters sneered.

“I don’t know why anybody would want to pay attention to anything that he has to say. He lies over and over again, like I said. 6,000 lies have been documented since he’s been there. I just can’t imagine what he’s going to try and say!” she said.

“But since he is a great liar, he’ll say anything,” and triggered Waters said, “uh, because he’s capable of saying anything without facts, without research. And so, I’m not looking forward to his State of the Union, and I hope people will turn the television off!”

Waters isn’t the only one triggered by Trump.

Last year, Luis Gutierrez, the illegal alien-loving congressman from Illinois, fled the House chamber.

Trump praised the Capitol building, calling it a monument to the American people.

As applause broke out, so did chants of “USA! USA! USA!”

Gutierrez left his seat as several Democrats patted him on the arm as he retreated to a safe space.

Democrats Reveal Priorities in SOTU Invitees: Transgender, Illegal Immigrants, Gun Control

The Democrats in Congress are using their invited guests to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday to send a message about their priorities for this legislative session, including transgenders serving in the military, illegal immigration and gun control.

Politico, the Washington Post, U.S. News and World Report, and CNN reported on lawmakers and who they invited.

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) invited mother and daughter Albertina Contreras Teletor and Yakelin Garcia Contreras, who were allegedly separated at the southern border with Mexico while trying to enter the United States.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) will bring Trisha Pesiri-Dybvik, an air traffic controller who was temporarily furloughed during the recent partial government shutdown. 

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) invited Sajid Shahriar, a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) employee who protested during the partial government shutdown.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) asked Navy Lt. Cmdr. Blake Dremann, who is transgender, to attend the SOTU.

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) asked Rita Lewis, who wants “pension reform” to join him at the SOTU.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) invited Nicole Smith-Holt, who wants “affordable” health care after her son died because he allegedly could not afford insulin for his diabetes.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) asked Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor Cameron Kasky to join him at the SOTU. Kasky has become an advocate for gun control.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is bringing Ana Maria Archila, the activist who confronted then-Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) during the confirmation hearing for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Rep. Jimmy Gomez (R-CA) invited Sandra Diaz, who allegedly worked at Trump’s golf course in New Jersey while an illegal immigrant, to attend the SOTU.

Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) invited Jin Park, the first so-called Dreamer to get a Rhodes scholarship. Park, a native of South Korea, got temporary protection from deportation through former President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) executive order.

Rep. Joe Neguse (D-CO) is bringing a DACA college student, only named as Elias in his announcement, to SOTU.

Chuck Schumer Unveils Who Will Give Democratic Response To SOTU

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer revealed on Tuesday that defeated Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams will give the Democratic response to the State of the Union address.

“I was very delighted when she agreed,” Schumer confirmed to Zach Cohen, the National Journal’s Senate correspondent.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi formally invited President Donald Trump to deliver the State of the Union address on Feb. 5, to which Trump accepted the invitation. The State of the Union was originally scheduled for Jan. 29, however, it was delayed after Pelosi refused to host it during the government shutdown.

“I am writing to inform you that the House of Representatives will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing the president’s State of the Union address in the House Chamber until the government has been reopened,” Pelosi wrote on Wednesday. (RELATED: Stacey Abrams Allegedly Attempts To Run Illegal Ads In Support Of Non-Existent Gubernatorial Run-Off)

Five days later, after Congress passed a bill to re-open the government, Pelosi sent a second letter to Trump.

“When I wrote to you on January 23rd, I stated that we should work together to find a mutually agreeable date when government has reopened to schedule this year’s State of the Union address,” the Speaker wrote. “In our conversation today, we agreed on February 5th.”

After losing in November to Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, Abrams has been mulling over a second run for the position when his term expires in 2022. However, she is also considering running for Georgia’s U.S. Senate seat when Republican Sen. David Perdue is up for re-election in 2020.

Abrams and her campaign consistently accused Kemp of racist voter suppression. A spokeswoman for Abrams’ campaign released a statement in October claiming that the he was “maliciously wielding the power of his office to suppress the vote for political gain and silence the voices of thousands of eligible voters — the majority of them people of color.”

Following Abrams’ loss, she has appeared regularly on cable news shows repeating those assertions. There has been no evidence to corroborate Abrams’ claims.

Pelosi Power Move: Invites Trump for SOTU Next Week

President Donald Trump on Monday accepted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) invitation to deliver his State of the Union address before the House chamber on February 5. The set date comes after the White House and congressional leaders reached an agreement to end the partial government shutdown last Friday.

“When I wrote to you on January 23rd, I stated that we should work together to find a mutually agreeable date when government has reopened to schedule this year’s State of the Union address,” Pelosi wrote in her letter to the president.

“Therefore, I invite you to deliver your State of the Union address before a Joint Session of Congress on February 5, 2019 in the House Chamber,” it said.

The invitation was shared to Twitter by Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff Drew Hammill.

Shortly after, the president wrote in a letter to Pelosi that he is accepting her invitation. “It is my great honor to accept,” he wrote in his response. “We have a great story to tell and yet, great goals to achieve!” he said.

The House and Senate still must pass a resolution officially inviting President Trump to speak to a joint session of Congress.

Last week, President Trump said he would postpone his planned January 29th address until the shutdown had ended, stating last Wednesday evening that “no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House Chamber.” He said he was not looking for an alternate option after Pelosi served notice that he wouldn’t be allowed to deliver the address to a joint session of Congress this week. Pelosi had told the president the House wouldn’t approve a resolution allowing him to address Congress until the shutdown ended. President Trump shot back that Pelosi was afraid of hearing the truth.

“I think that’s a great blotch on the incredible country that we all love,” he said of the move. “It’s a great, great horrible mark.”

The drama surrounding the State of the Union address began when Pelosi asked the president to make other plans, but stopped short of denying him the chamber for his address. President Trump called her bluff in a letter, saying he intended to come anyway. “It would be so very sad for our Country if the State of the Union were not delivered on time, on schedule, and very importantly, on location,” he wrote.

Pelosi quickly squelched the speech, writing back that the House “will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing the President’s State of the Union address in the House Chamber until government has opened.”

The Constitution states only that the president “shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union,” meaning the president can speak anywhere he chooses or give his update in writing. The address has been delayed before. Ronald Reagan’s 1986 State of the Union address was postponed after the Challenger space shuttle exploded in flight on Jan. 28 of that year.

Trump to Pelosi: Ready or not, State of the Union is happening ‘on time & on location’

US President Donald Trump has informed Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi that he will show up on January 29 to deliver the State of the Union. She replied that it cannot happen until the government shutdown ends.

In a letter sent to Pelosi (D-California) on Day 33 of the shutdown, Trump said that he had already accepted her “kind invitation” when he got another letter about security concerns, on January 16. However, both the Secret Service and Homeland Security assured him  “there would be absolutely no problem regarding security” and even said so publicly.

“Therefore, I will be honoring your invitation, and fulfilling my Constitutional duty, to deliver important information to the people and Congress the United States of America regarding the State of our Union,” the president wrote on Wednesday.

“It would be so very sad for our Country if the State of the Union were not delivered on time, on schedule, and very importantly, on location!” he added at the end, in a typical Trumpian flourish.

Pelosi responded within a couple hours, telling Trump that the House will “not consider a concurrent resolution” authorizing the president’s speech in the House chamber until the government has reopened, in effect rescinding her invitation.

The letter exchange is just the latest twist in the war of words between Trump, a Republican, and the congressional Democrats. At the end of last year, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) blocked the approval of a bill passed by the Republican-majority House giving $5.6 billion to Trump’s proposed border wall, triggering a government shutdown. Pelosi, who became Speaker on January 3, after a new Democrat-majority House was sworn in, has flat-out refused any funding for the wall, ever, calling it “immoral.”

About a quarter of the government has been shuttered as a result, with some 800,000 federal workers either sent home or made to work without pay until the impasse is resolved.

Attempting to leverage Trump into surrendering, Pelosi sent the January 16 letter about security concerns, bringing up the fact that Trump’s Secret Service security detail and indeed the entire Department of Homeland Security are among the furloughed feds.

Both DHS and the Secret Service immediately chimed in to say that this mission was critical and would not be affected. Trump also fired back the following day, denying Pelosi the use of US military assets for congressional travel – including a trip she and a delegation of House Democrats have already embarked on, to Belgium and and Afghanistan. Pelosi fumed, but did not take the final step of dis-inviting the president at the time.

Under Article II, Section 3 of the US Constitution, the president “shall from time to time give to Congress information of the State of the Union and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.” It was traditionally delivered in writing until President Woodrow Wilson appeared in person before the joint session of Congress in 1913.
