NYT Changes Headline About Virginia AG Wearing “Dark Makeup” In College

Gov.-elect Ralph Northam (C) links arms with (L-R) current Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Lt. Gov.-elect Justin Fairfax, Attorney General-elect Mark Herring, and U.S. Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) at an election night rally November 7, 2017 in Fairfax, Virginia.

by Ashe Schow

One left-wing media outlet quickly changed its headline about the latest Democrat scandal in Virginia after it was swiftly and thoroughly mocked online.

Once news broke that Democrat Mark Herring, Virginia’s Attorney General, had also worn blackface to party in the mid-1980s, outlets scrambled to get their piece of the traffic. Most headlines reported that Herring wore “blackface” to a party.

Virginia Attorney General Says He Wore Blackface at College Party,” read the headline on Bloomberg.

Virginia’s attorney general admits wearing blackface in college,” wrote the BBC.

UPDATE: Virginia Attorney Mark Herring admits to wearing blackface at college party in 1980,” reported the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Virginia Attorney General Herring says he wore blackface in college,” was the headline at the Washington Post.

The list goes on.

But over at the New York Times, the headline was a little different.

“Virginia Attorney General Says He Also Dressed in Dark Makeup,” the Times reported.

Seriously? That’s quite the downplay. “Dark makeup” is used to describe women wearing lots of eyeliner or dark eyeshadow. This wording makes it sound like Herring dressed in drag in the 80s, something he may not be criticized for today.

It’s not even the wording Herring himself used in his statement on the issue. Herring said he wore “brown makeup,” so the Times couldn’t even pretend like they used the phrase because Herring did so.

“It sounds ridiculous even now writing it. But because of our ignorance and glib attitudes – and because we did not have an appreciation for the experiences and perspectives of others – we dressed up and put on wigs and brown makeup,” Herring said in his statement.

“That conduct clearly shows that, as a young man, I had a callous and inexcusable lack of awareness and insensitivity to the pain my behavior could inflict on others,” he added. “It was really a minimization of both people of color, and a minimization of a horrific history I knew well even then.”

Within minutes of being called out on social media, the Times stealth-edited the headline. There’s no acknowledgement anywhere about the change.

The new headline reads: “Virginia Attorney General Says He Also Dressed in Blackface.”

Jonathan Martin, one of the Times authors of the article, likely didn’t write the headline, as he has been astutely covering the story in detail for days on Twitter. The article itself certainly does not attempt to shield Herring, or Gov. Ralph Northam of Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax – also Democrats – from the scandals in which they are now enveloped. Northam, after defending infanticide, was accused of donning blackface or a KKK robe in a photo in his medical school yearbook. He at first apologized for appearing in the photo, but then said he was not in the photo, but had dressed as Michael Jackson at another time.

Fairfax has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 2004 at the Democratic National Convention when he was a John Kerry campaign staffer. All of this is included, at length, in the Times article, but the way the paper chose to originally present the headline is telling.

MYSTERY SIGHTING: Still No Pics From Ginsburg ‘Public Appearance’ – Hack Reporter Who Claims He Was Hugged by RBG Deletes Tweet, Locks Twitter Account

Capture

As TGP’s Kristinn Taylor reported, Ruth Bader Ginsburg made her first public appearance Monday night since her lung surgery in December.

According to reports, Ginsburg attended a concert celebrating herself titled, Notorious RBG in Song, that featured her daughter-in-law, soprano Patrice Michaels.

Various reporters who attended the event Monday night claimed they saw Ruth Bader Ginsburg, but said she played it lowkey and sat in the back of the room.

Attendees who saw RBG described her as looking “quite glam” and “magnificent,” however there are no photos of the Supreme Court Justice attending the event Monday night.

A few photos of the event were posted online, however there are no photos of Ruth Bader Ginsburg yet.

The AP reported no photos were allowed, and that Ginsburg’s son said she is walking a mile per day.

“The National Constitution Center, which sponsored the concert, did not permit photography.”

One WaPo columnist claimed he was hugged and wished a happy birthday by RBG Monday night.

David Hagedorn, who describes himself as a “Dining columnist for Arlington & Bethesda Magazines; Washington Post contributor; freelance food/travel/design writer” deleted his tweet and locked his Twitter account.

“What a delight to see RBG tonight at “Notorious RBG in Song,” written & beautifully performed by her daughter-in-law, Patrice Michaels. She sat in the back, a few rows behind us, looking resplendent. Being hugged & wished a happy birthday by her made a grand night spectacular,” Hagedorn said in a since-deleted tweet.

Hagedorn then made his Twitter account private.

HERE WE GO-> Virginia Dem Leadership Defends Gov. Ralph Northam’s Blackface, KKK Yearbook Photo

Capture

Virginia Democrat leadership is already coming out in defense of Governor Ralph Northam’s racist yearbook photo.

A picture from Democrat Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s medical school yearbook surfaced on Fridayshowing two men, one in a KKK hood and robe and one in ‘blackface’ on the same page as Northam.

The photo was first published by Big League Politics on Friday and later confirmed by other outlets such as WaPo and The Virginian Pilot.

One half of the page shows Ralph Northam wearing a suit jacket and a tie, a photo of him in a cowboy hat and boots and another of him leaning up against a convertible.

It is unclear who the two men in costume are, however Eastern Virginia Medical School allowed students to personally choose photos for their yearbook page.

Democrats ALWAYS defend their own no matter what.

A Ralph Northam ally, Senate Minority Leader Richard L. Saslaw (D-Fairfax) defended the governor saying we don’t need to examine something that occurred 30 years ago — unless your name is Brett Kavanaugh of course!

Via The Washington Post:

“His whole life has been about exactly the opposite and that’s what you need to examine, not something that occurred 30 years ago,” said Senate Minority Leader Richard L. Saslaw (D-Fairfax). “While it’s in very poor taste, I would think no one in the General Assembly who would like their college conduct examined. I would hate to have to go back and examine my two years in the Army. Trust me. I was 18 years old and I was a handful, OK? His life since then has been anything but. It’s been a life of helping people, and many times for free.”

Jack Wilson, the Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia said if it is indeed Northam in the photo, he needs to resign.

“Racism has no place in Virginia,” Wilson said in a statement. “These pictures are wholly inappropriate. If Governor Northam appeared in blackface or dressed in a KKK robe, he should resign immediately.”

Why are we just now finding out about Governor Ralph Northam’s 1984 yearbook with pictures of him presumably in blackface or a KKK robe?

Why did the Republican oppo researchers drop the ball during the Virginia gubernatorial election in 2017?

Ralph Northam’s yearbook would have been perfect fodder to attack the Democrat candidate with especially in Virginia.

BETO O’ROURKE SUGGESTS AMERICA SHOULD DITCH THE CONSTITUTION

Beto O’Rourke Suggests America Should Ditch the Constitution

Potential presidential candidate makes stunning claim

Paul Joseph Watson | Infowars.com – JANUARY 16, 2019

Potential presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke has stunningly suggested that the United States should ditch its own Constitution.

During an interview with the Washington Post, the Texas Congressman openly mulled whether the rapidly changing nature of the world meant that the founding document of the country was out of date.

Throughout the two-hour interview — which was often interrupted by bystanders urging him to run for president — O’Rourke boomeranged between a bright-eyed hope that the United States will soon dramatically change its approach to a whole host of issues and a dismal suspicion that the country is now incapable of implementing sweeping change.

When asked which it is, O’Rourke paused.

“I’m hesitant to answer it because I really feel like it deserves its due, and I don’t want to give you a — actually, just selfishly, I don’t want a sound bite of it reported, but, yeah, I think that’s the question of the moment: Does this still work?” O’Rourke said. “Can an empire like ours with military presence in over 170 countries around the globe, with trading relationships…and security agreements in every continent, can it still be managed by the same principles that were set down 230-plus years ago?

The bizarre quote is sure to come up again should O’Rourke decide to run for president, a scenario that looks more likely in the aftermath of his Senate challenge, which O’Rourke almost certainly knew he would lose but embarked upon anyway to increase his name recognition.

Some analysts think that Beto is more likely to seek a spot on the 2020 ticket as the Democratic vice presidential candidate, but with views like this, many conservatives will want him nowhere near the White House.

Mother of Migrant Child Who Died After Illegally Crossing Border Says She Sent Him on Treacherous Trip to Make it Easier for Her Husband to Cross

by Cassandra Fairbanks December 28, 2018

The mother of the eight-year-old Guatemalan boy who died after crossing the border this week says that she sent her young son on the treacherous voyage to help her husband’s chances of being able to stay in the US illegally.

Screen Shot 2018-12-28 at 11.39.26 AM

The boy’s mother Catarina Alonzo told Reuters that bringing children is the easiest way for migrants to be accepted into the US.  According to the Washington Post, the smugglers also charge less than half the price if a child is accompanying the adult “knowing that migrants can turn themselves in to border agents and will soon be released.”

“Lots of them have gone with children and managed to cross, even if they’re held for a month or two. But they always manage to get across easily,” Alonzo told Reuters.

Guatemala’s foreign ministry is warning that coyotes and human traffickers are using President Trump’s plan to build a wall along the border to urge migrants to take their chances now.

“According to interviews (with migrants), the coyotes are saying ‘it’s now or never’ because the wall is going to be built, and it won’t be possible to cross,” the spokeswoman told Reuters.

The boy is the second child to die this month after being dragged along on the dangerous trip. An official cause of death has not yet been made public.

Now, the family is asking that they let the boy’s father stay and work in the US so that his “death won’t be in vain.”

MSNBC’s Russia ‘expert’: Moscow terrorizing US with meme-filled ‘cruise missiles’ (VIDEO)

MSNBC’s Russia 'expert': Moscow terrorizing US with meme-filled ‘cruise missiles’ (VIDEO)

Malcolm Nance

Millions of impressionable American minds are being corrupted by Russian-linked memes, “the cruise missiles of fake news”, according to MSNBC’s self-anointed Russia expert. Everyone agrees that this is a reasonable observation.

Malcolm Nance, a former Navy cryptologist who studied Arabic and served in the Middle East, makes regular appearances on MSNBC, where he is given generous amounts of airtime to share his thoughts on all things Russia related. In his latest appearance on the network, Nance described how the destructive power of Russian-linked internet memes have apparently devastated America.

“The Internet Research agency built all these memes and tropes which became the cruise missiles of fake news and disinformation,” Nance said. He claimed that these nefarious meme-bombs have ravaged the mental faculties of “one third of the United States population,” leaving them unable to “believe what they see before their very eyes.” And of course, these JPEG-rockets “may have elected a president in the process.”

Photographs of these ghastly cruise missiles have been floating around on the internet in recent days, with many noting their astonishing level of sophistication.

Screen Shot 2018-12-19 at 11.05.19 AM

This is not the first time that Nance has deployed terrifying images of Russian meme missiles to warn Americans about the new Moscow menace: In a July interview he declared that, “As an information war, the payloads in the information cruise missiles that Russia launched at this country were propaganda products which had their origins in 1917, in the Bolshevik revolution.”

Months before that outburst, in March, Nance was quoted by the Washington Post as thoughtfully asking: “What happens if 100s of millions of progressives worldwide abandon Facebook because they think it’s a tool of Trump, Russia authoritarians and neo-Nazis? Facebook needs to own up and do damage control to ensure they are not 2018’s information cruise missile of choice.”

Nance really has a knack for inventive Russia commentary. He previously demonstrated his vast knowledge about the country by falsely claiming that Russian President Vladimir Putin was a “former director of the KGB.”

The “intelligence analyst” is also a savvy media observer, describing journalist Glenn Greenwald as “an agent of Trump & Moscow” after the Intercept editor attended a conference in Moscow.

When it comes to comparing GIFs to airstrikes, the MSNBC talking head keeps good company: Guardian writer Carole Cadwalladr once famously suggested that the UK was now at “war” with Russia. The reason? Russia’s Foreign Ministry changed its Twitter profile picture to a photograph of Maria Butina.

WashPost Op-Ed: Girl’s Death Shows Americans Are a Threat to Migrants

See the source image

By Neil Munro

The death of a migrant girl shows that Americans are a threat to migrants, says Never Trump author Jennifer Rubin at the Washington Post.

“It’s a cruel irony that [President Donald] Trump has portrayed refugees as a threat to Americans. In fact, the reverse is true,” Rubin wrote in a column that slammed any barrier or regulatory curbs on the flow of economic migrants into the United States.

Rubin’s column was headlined “Horrifying indifference to children’s lives,” and it cited the death of seven-year Guatemalan girl, Jakelin Caal, who was brought over the New Mexico border by her father, Nery Gilberto Caal Cuz. The subheadline on the article declared: The Trump administration certainly is responsible for death of a child in its custody.”

See the source image

Fewer migrants will die while sneaking across the border if the federal government just provides a better welcome and easier asylum rules, Rubin argues:

With adequate border security and staffing, a sufficient number of immigration judges deployed to handle the caseload, reversal of the administration’s deliberately cruel policies … the current, intolerable situation should improve.

Rubin ignored the alternative policy of discouraging migration by careful enforcement of the nation’s laws against illegal migration and the employment of illegals.

Rubin also did not mention the thousands of illegal migrants who are rescued by the border patrol each year, nor the tens of thousands who are by border agents to file clearly fraudulent cases which are subsequently rejected by judges.

Capture

Also, Rubin did not mention the moral responsibility of the child’s father who brought her through the desert in an apparent effort to use the catch-and-release Flores loophole to get past border guards. The loophole was created by Judge Dolly Gee who has ordered border officials to release migrants after 20 days if they bring a child with them.

The AP reported that the father was an economic migrant:

Family members in Guatemala said Caal decided to migrate with his favorite child to earn money he could send back home. Jakelin’s mother and three siblings remained in San Antonio Secortez, a village of about 420 inhabitants.

Economic migrants are not eligible for asylum.

But Rubin posted a litany of complaints by open-borders groups, including the ACLU and America’s Voice, who argue that curbs on illegal migrant force migrants to take more dangerous routines through the scrubland into the United States. Rubin cited the ACLU’s complaints:

In 2017, migrant deaths increased even as the number of border crossings dramatically decreased. When the Trump administration pushes for the militarization of the border, including more border wall construction, they are driving people fleeing violence into the deadliest desert regions.

Rubin exemplifies the open-borders advocates who hide their views underneath a blizzard of nit-picking complaints about minor aspects of the nation’s popular border-control rules. For example, she quoted one activist’s complaints that the temporary holding centers along the border are characterized by “freezing temperatures, no beds, lights left on, no showers, not enough toilets or toilet paper, filthy conditions, horrible smell, inedible food and not enough clean water to drink, and [are] run by insulting and abusive agents.”

But Rubin declined to say if the United States has a right to protect its borders or to deport foreign migrants from the United States. She showed indifference to the huge economic and civic costs to ordinary Americans of cheap-labor migration into the nation’s blue-collar and middle-class workplaces,  neighborhoods, hospitals, welfare centers, and K-12 schools.

Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies, told Breitbart News:

The Democrats are using this [death] cynically as a cudgel against the very idea of immigration enforcement. It is shameless. It is really shameless.

The left is objectively in favor of open borders. They deny it if you ask them straight out, but they are opposed to any meaningful measure to enforce the borders. Any time there is a tragedy like this they immediately turn it into an excuse for weakening the borders — and say at the same when you point to an illegal immigrant criminal [as a reason] for tightening the borders, they charge you with acting irresponsibly.

The logical conclusion of the Democrats’ outrage over this is that there should be no border enforcement because any rules about border control will also create people who evade them, and it is an evasion of the laws that is the responsible (mechanism] for this tragedy. The only logical conclusion is that we must have open borders.

For example, Democrats are now describing the detention centers used to hold migrant parents together with their children prior to their release or asylum hearings as illegitimate “internment camps.”

Capture

This “internment” claim comes after Democrats decried the governments’ release of children to government-run shelters while their parents were detained prior to court hearings.

Nationwide, the U.S. establishment’s economic policy of using legal migration to boost economic growth shifts wealth from young people towards older people by flooding the market with cheap white collar and blue collar foreign labor. That flood of outside labor spikes profits and Wall Street values by cutting salaries for manual and skilled labor that blue collar and white collar employees.

The cheap labor policy widens wealth gaps, reduces high tech investment, increases state and local tax burdens, hurts kids’ schools and college education, pushes Americans away from high tech careers, and sidelines at least five million marginalized Americans and their families, including many who are now struggling with fentanyl addictions.

Immigration also steers investment and wealth away from towns in heartland states because coastal investors can more easily hire and supervise the large immigrant populations who prefer to live in coastal cities. In turn, that investment flow drives up coastal real-estate prices, pricing poor U.S. Latinos and blacks out of prosperous cities, such as Berkeley and Oakland.
