US schools could be forced to let biological males join girls’ sports teams under House-passed bill

The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives has passed a bill that will force schools to allow biological males who identify as females to compete on women’s sports teams. What could go wrong?
“This radical bill is going to totally eliminate women’s and girls’ sports,” Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-Arizona) warned in a Daily Signal op-ed, pointing out that the Equality Act, which passed the House 236-173 on Friday, would require not just schools but churches, nonprofits, and other institutions to allow biological males into women-only spaces like bathrooms and locker rooms, “even without any type of medical diagnosis or psychological diagnosis.”
The Equality Act enshrines “sexual orientation and gender identity” as a protected characteristic under the federal Civil Rights Act, which prohibits institutional discrimination – a measure that sounds uncontroversial enough, until its implications are fully digested.

“This bill hijacks the Civil Rights Act of 1964, erasing decades of progress for women across this country,” Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-Missouri) declared in a press conference held Thursday, a last-ditch effort to derail what she termed the “Inequality Act.”
Rep. Greg Steube (R-Florida) attempted to include an amendment to preserve Title IX protections, which require schools to provide separate athletic programs for women, but it was shot down by Democrats, all but one of whom embraced the bill as-is. Even Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-Illinois), the one holdout, was ultimately browbeaten into expressing his support following pressure from activists, and eight Republicans crossed party lines to vote in favor.
‘Having a penis and competing as a woman is not fair’: Navratilova inflames transgender fury

“The LGBT community has waited nearly 250 years” for a law like this, gushed Rep. Dan Cicilline (D-Rhode Island), urging Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to take up the measure as soon as possible – though it’s unlikely to pass the Republican-controlled Senate, and President Donald Trump reportedly opposes it. Still, the bill’s defenders insisted female athletes had nothing to fear from the legislation, which would protect LGBTQ people from discrimination in housing, education, employment, and other areas.
“Many states have sexual-orientation and gender-identity non-discrimination laws, and all of them still have women’s sports,” Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-New York) insisted, dismissing transgender athletes’ “competitive advantages” during a hearing last month, perhaps unaware that Connecticut, one of those states, awarded both first-place and runner-up in its most recent high school women’s 55-meter dash competition to biological males in the process of transitioning to female.
A trio of female ex-athletes including tennis star Martina Navratilova warned last month in a Washington Post op-ed that the bill would decimate women’s sports, dismissing the claims of those who believe “girls can compete and win against boys” as “simply a denial of science.” Despite her years of LGBT advocacy, Navratilova was eviscerated last year after she said men who “proclaim themselves female” should not be able to compete against women.

Just Bizarre: LGBTQ Groups Condemn Trump Admin’s Move To Decriminalize Homosexuality Worldwide

“We have a lot of questions about their intentions”
By PAUL BOIS
Trump derangement syndrome has gone so far into overdrive that his detractors are now criticizing him even when he does something solely to their benefit. The LGBT pushback against his administration’s policy to decriminalize homosexuality worldwide is perhaps the most puzzling example.
According to Fox News, LGBT activists have largely denounced the Trump administration’s policy on decriminalizing homosexuality as a cheap ploy rather than an actual promise.
“Donald Trump and Mike Pence have turned a blind eye to a campaign of violence and murder targeting LGBTQ people in Chechnya that has stretched on for two years,” said Jeremy Kadden, Senior International Policy Advocate for the Human Rights Campaign.
“They have turned away LGBTQ people fleeing violence and persecution and sent them back to countries that criminalize them, and have consistently worked to undermine the fundamental equality of LGBTQ people and our families here at home from day one,” Kadden continued. “If this commitment is real, we have a lot of questions about their intentions and commitments, and are eager to see what proof and action will follow.”
Sarah Kate Ellis, President and CEO of GLAAD, told Fox News that the move was little more than window-dressing for an administration that marginalizes people.
“This looks like just another attempt by the Trump administration to cherry-pick and cover-up what is a horrible record of targeting marginalized people, including the LGBTQ community,” said Sarah Kate Ellis.
The Trump administration pushed to decriminalize homosexuality following the case of a 31-year-old Iranian man who was hanged by authorities for homosexual activity.
“The United States continues to work to protect and defend human rights for all. Governments have an obligation to ensure that all people can freely enjoy the universal human rights and fundamental freedoms to which they are entitled,” a State Department spokesperson told Fox News this week. “Working to advance longstanding U.S. policy around human rights is the kind of work our Ambassadors do all around the world every day.”
In May last year, Secretary Mike Pompeo denounced governments that criminalize or execute their citizens for committing homosexual acts.
“Fear and bigotry are enshrined in laws that criminalize LGBTI status or conduct in more than 70 countries,” said Pompeo. “In some, being LGBTI is punishable by death. We use public and private diplomacy to raise human rights concerns, provide emergency assistance to people at risk, and impose visa restrictions and economic sanctions against those who persecute them.”
Annise Parker, president and CEO of LGBTQ Victory Institute, said the Trump administration’s move to decriminalize homosexuality is just empty rhetoric that requires more commitment.
“Our hope is that Ambassador Grenell – one of the few out LGBTQ people in the entire administration – will demand that this not be just a public relations stunt, but the first step in a return to the United States as a global leader on LGBTQ equality,” she said. “Ending the criminalization of gay people around the globe will not come via edict from the White House, it is a huge effort that requires the full commitment of his administration and an investment in local LGBTQ organizations. Yet this administration has cut funds for global LGBTQ initiatives.”

The most bizarre denunciation of the Trump administration’s policy came from the LGBTQ magazine Out, which actually said the move was a colonialist stunt against Iran.
(ANOTHER HOOD RAT LOVER) – Ellen Page Refuses to Apologize in Op-Ed After Blaming Trump, Pence for Jussie Smollett Hoax

By Justin Caruso
Actress Ellen Page addressed her role in promoting the Jussie Smollett hate hoax in an op-ed published Wednesday and refused to apologize to President Donald Trump and Vice President Pence for blaming them for the “attack.”
“The conversation around Jussie Smollett has led us all to examine hate violence and its implications and aftermath,” Ellen Page wrote in The Hollywood Reporter.
“I had no reason to doubt Jussie. My work on Gaycation — the docuseries I produced to chronicle LGBTQ+ stories from around the world — introduced me to many survivors of hate violence. I know how prevalent and pernicious it can be. If this situation was staged, it could make victims even more reluctant to report these crimes. Very real crimes.”
Page wrote:
While the media and public debate the case and await more information, we must not lose sight of the very real, endemic violence that LGBTQ+ people, people of color and other underrepresented communities face every day.
I ask you not to question our pain, not to draw into question our trauma, but to maintain, wholeheartedly, that hate violence exists. The merits of one case should not and cannot call that into question. The media coverage does not convey the reality and totality of the cruelty and danger we face. This is the story that must be told.
…
When the rhetoric we read and the hate speech we hear comes from our politicians, our media and entertainment, our neighbors and families and our religious leaders, we internalize the pain in damaging, self-defeating ways. We are wary and afraid to report hate violence. We lose hope as we continue to be victimized. The cruelty, the hate and the words manifest shame.
In the article, she fails to apologize for her role in casting blame on Donald Trump and Mike Pence for the “attack” on Empire actor Jussie Smollett, that Chicago police now believe was staged by the actor himself.
Following the hoax attack, the Juno actress appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and blamed the Trump administration for the hoax attack. Many Hollywood celebrities also blamed Trump and his supporters for the “attack.”
“The vice president of America wishes I didn’t have the love with my wife,” the 32-year-old said.
“If you are in a position of power and you hate people, and you want to cause suffering to them, you go through the trouble, you spend your career trying to cause suffering, what do you think is going to happen? Kids are going to be abused and they’re going to kill themselves, and people are going to be beaten on the street!”
Page even defended Smollett personally, saying, “We have a media that says it’s a debate that whether or not what happened to Jussie Smollett is a hate crime. It’s absurd. Its not a fucking debate.”
That interview, posted on Colbert’s YouTube page under the title, “Ellen Page Calls Out Hateful Leadership,” went viral.
Gay & trans sex education to be taught to 5 year-olds in UK (and opting out is illegal)
By RT.COM

The UK Conservative government is set to announce plans for the introduction of lessons on homosexuality and transgenderism for primary school students, despite an official petition against the move, signed by over 100,000, RT.com writes.
The Sunday Times reports that the new curriculum has been finalized after a six-month consultation with the Department of Education, and will be rolled out across UK schools starting from the 2020-21 educational year.
It will be taught to pupils from the age of five, and it will be illegal for parents to take their children out of the classroom for the lessons in secondary school, meaning that at least a term’s worth of sex education classes – and likely far more – will be attended by each student.
A popular petition to parliament demanding that the opt-out be retained for the length of the child’s school education will be debated in the House of Commons on Monday, though it is not expected to affect the schedule for the implementation of the legislation.
The proposal has encountered resistance from conservative communities, including some Muslims and Jews. In a letter expressing opposition, prominent rabbis expressed fears that some parents would rather take their children out of the education system altogether – which they are allowed to do – rather than subject them to the new curriculum.
Questions discussed during the non-assessed lessons, as listed in the current proposals for the curriculum, will include: “When is it OK to let someone touch me?” for 3-year-olds, and “Why are we all different? Is it OK to be different?” at age seven. At 11, children will discuss “What is the difference between transvestite and trans-sexual?” and by 16, they will be told “how to disclose positive HIV status to a sexual partner, family and friends.”
Among the teaching materials for primary school children who are currently being trialed at a predominantly-Muslim school in Birmingham are ‘Tango Makes Three’, a book about two gay penguins who nurture an egg taken from another family, and ‘My Princess Boy,’ which celebrates a dark-skinned child who loves to cross-dress.
The other aims of the curriculum include educating students on issues that have become more prevalent in Britain over last two decades, such as female genital mutilation, sexting, revenge porn, and potential imbalance of power between the sexes in relationships.
Transgender Activist Accused Of Burning Down Own Home In ‘Hate Crime’ That Killed Five Pets
Transgender activist Nikki Joly of Jackson, IL, whose five pets were killed in a 2017 house fire, has been accused of intentionally setting the blaze, according to The Detroit News.

Two German Shepherds and three cats died in the two-story blaze that was initially investigated as a hate crime by the FBI and local law enforcement.
Investigators found traces of gasoline in five rooms on the first floor of the wooden-frame house, according to the police report, while Joly was found to have bought $10 of gas at a local gas station the morning of the fire “so he could cut his grass,” according to the report. Joly stopped halfway through because it was too hot out, while police say the sequence of events “would have made it difficult for anyone but Joly to set the fire.”
He went to work at the church and got a call from Moore at 1:02 p.m., said the report. Moore had forgotten to pack her lunch so asked Joly to bring it to her at work. The couple share one car.
Joly returned home, which was two miles away, went inside for a minute or two, and left, he told police.
The fire was reported by neighbors at 1:16 p.m.
The sequence of events would have made it difficult for anyone but Joly to set the fire, Grove said in the police report. –The Detroit News
“The timeline shows a window of less than five minutes for another person to enter the residence, splash gasoline around, ignite the fire and then leave without being scene,” wrote police detective Aaron Grove.

Two weeks after the fire, Joly was questioned by two FBI agents and a city police detective.
During the interview, he drooped his head, staring at the floor, not looking at his interlocutors, according to the report. He didn’t admit setting the fire and didn’t deny it, either. –The Detroit News
The arrest of Joly, a biological woman who identifies as a man, came as a surprise to the gay community in Jackson, as Joly helped open the city’s first gay community center and was a co-organizer of the city’s first gay festival – earning the Citizen of the Year award by a local paper.
Authorities later determined the fire was intentionally set, but the person they arrested came as a shock to both supporters and opponents of the gay rights movement. It was the citizen of the year — Nikki Joly.
“It’s embarrassing,” said Travis Trombley, a gay resident who fought for the ordinance. “How do you do it to the community you have put so much effort into helping?”
Why Joly, 54, would allegedly burn down his home remains a mystery. He didn’t own the house, which was insured by its owner, police said.
His attorney said the lack of a motive cast doubt on the case. –The Detroit News
The police report suggests a motive, however; two people who worked with Joly at St. Johns United Church of Christ, where the Jackson Price Center is located, said the trans activist was “frustrated the controversy over gay rights had died down,” and that the Jackson Pride Parade and Festival – held five days before the fire, “hadn’t received more attention or protests.”

Barbara Shelton questioned the police’s version of her statement, telling the Detroit News “Not sure I said that,” in an email, adding “I have no idea about anything, never heard Nikki comment in any fashion about anything like that.”
According to Joly’s attorney, Daniel Barnett, “It doesn’t make sense,” adding “He was citizen of the year. There was plenty of media coverage already before the fire.”
While Joly was stoic in public, he could be abrupt, even combative in private, said acquaintances. He was headstrong, unwilling to have his views challenged by others.
He also could be deceptive, Shelton and James said in the police investigative report.
One year after the pride center opened, Joly broke it away from the church. Unknown to church officials, Joly had secured nonprofit status for the center, Shelton told police.
Shelton said she felt betrayed because she was the one who secured the original funding for the center by applying for several grants.
“Shelton and James both described Nikki as very deceptive and stated that when it comes to Nikki there are ‘layers of manipulation,’” police detective Aaron Grove wrote in the report. –The Detroit News
Local drag queen Jeff Graves said that he was alarmed by the details of the investigation, and said that if Joly is found guilty, he will try to claw back donations raised for the transgender activist’s legal defense.
“I feel as though I was used for a money scam,” said Graves. “It hurt and it still does.”
