Ocasio-Cortez: Trump Running ‘Concentration Camps’ at Border

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Monday evening ratcheted up her attacks on the Trump administration’s immigration policies, referring to President Donald Trump as a “fascist” operating “concentration camps” on the U.S.-Mexico border.

“That is exactly what they are. They are concentration camps,” Ocasio-Cortez said of migrant holding facilities during a Q&A live-streamed on Instagram. “The fact that concentrations camps are now an institutionalized practice in the Home of the Free is extraordinarily disturbing and we need to do something about it.”

The self-avowed Democratic-socialist then voiced her eagerness to connect with others “who are concerned enough with humanity to say that ‘never again’ means something.”

The expression “never again” is strongly associated with Holocaust remembrance.

During another part of the live-stream, the 29-year-old freshman lawmaker warned her followers that “we are losing to an authoritarian and fascist presidency.”

“I don’t use those words lightly,” she continued. “I don’t use those words to just throw bombs. I use that word because that is what an administration that creates concentration camps is. A presidency that creates concentration camps is fascist, and it’s very difficult to say that.”

“The fact that concentration camps are now an institutionalized practice in the home of the free is extraordinarily disturbing, and we need to do something about it,” she added.

In November, Ocasio-Cortez faced blowback after comparing asylum seekers to Jews fleeing Nazi Germany during World War II, attempting to make the point that neither was a “crime.” “Asking to be considered a refugee and applying for status isn’t a crime,” the congresswoman wrote on Twitter. “It wasn’t for Jewish families fleeing Germany. It wasn’t for targeted families fleeing Rwanda. It wasn’t for communities fleeing war-torn Syria. And it isn’t for those fleeing violence in Central America.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks came as President Trump vowed to deport millions of illegal aliens in a series of tweets.

Ahead of launching his 2020 re-election campaign, the president stated that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will next week “begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States.”

“They will be removed as fast as they come in,” he added.

Peru Cracks Down On Border Security After 15,000 Venezuelans Storm Border

Peru Border Security Venezuelans

By Tom Pappert

Peru is stepping up its border security and requirements for asylum after 15,000 Venezuelan refugees crossed its border over the weekend.

As the situation in the failed socialist state of Venezuela continues to decline, refugees from the nation are overwhelming other South American countries, with some 15,000 Venezuelans crossing the border in the last few days.

In response to the massive number of migrants, Peru will now require Venezuelans seeking entrance into the country to have a valid ID, passport, and visa to enter the country legally. According to Global Security, the country previously only required a form of valid ID for entry.

The Peruvian authorities have issued a statement that same day explaining that, due to this massive influx of refugees and migrants, a special contingency plan would be put in place, and Venezuelan refugees are now required to have a passport and a visa in order to enter the country. Until now, each Venezuelan was asked only for a basic document, such as an ID or an Andean Card to be allowed entry into Peru.

The total number of Venezuelan refugees and migrants in the country now stands at about 800,000. In total, to date, Peru has received over 280,000 asylum applications by Venezuelan citizens and given temporary residence permits to over 390,000.

The United Nations is sending aid to the border between Ecuador and Peru, as the majority of immigrants appear to be crossing through Ecuador and Colombia to gain entrance to the South American country. Some travel for as many as 40 days, by foot, to migrate to Peru.

Strangely, there appear to be no reports of the Peruvian government being called “racist” or “xenophobic” for its desire to curtail the mass migration from Venezuela.

Muslim Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib Hosting Rally to Impeach Donald Trump on Saturday

The foul-mouthed Congresswoman will hold the rally in Detroit.

By Shane Trejo

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) is agitating for impeachment of President Donald Trump despite the fact that he was cleared of Russian collusion charges by the Mueller report. She will hold a rally on Saturday to push for his removal.

The protest will be apart of an #ImpeachTrump Day of Action where similar events will be taking place across the country, as Democrats hope to overturn the results of the 2016 presidential election. It is being organized by the infamous George Soros-funded front, MoveOn.org.

“The biggest changes in our country, from women earning the right to vote to the outlawing of segregation, did not start within the halls of Congress, they started on the streets of places like my home city of Detroit and beyond,” Tlaib said to Newsweek about the day of action. “I’m heartened to see that same push behind holding this lawless President accountable.”

She continued: “I sincerely hope that after this Saturday, my colleagues on Capitol Hill will answer the call of the likely millions of Americans that will rally across the country and finally open an impeachment inquiry into the actions of President Trump.”

Tlaib’s event will take place in Detroit at 3pm on Saturday, June 22 outside of her office located on 7700 Second Avenue. She believes the rally is necessary because “it is our duty as members of Congress to pursue the last option we have in this pursuit of justice on behalf of the American people.”

The other Palestinian-American U.S. Congressman from her state, Justin Amash, is in her corner regarding impeachment. It is unknown whether he will appear at the rally to show solidarity to his fellow representative of Middle Eastern descent.

Tlaib, a radical Muslim who is not shy about pushing her extreme socialist agenda, has used her filthy, foul mouth to criticize Trump in the past.

She said of Trump earlier this year: “When your son looks at you and said ‘Mamma, look, you won — bullies don’t win.’ And I said, ‘Baby they don’t, because we’re gonna go in there and we’re gonna impeach the motherf**ker!’”

Tlaib is hoping that more Democrats will support her resolution to impeach Trump, which thus far has been ignored by House Democratic leadership.

Harvard pulls pro-gun Parkland survivor’s acceptance over years-old racial slurs

CAP

Conservative pundit Kyle Kashuv will not join fellow Parkland shooting survivor and gun control advocate David Hogg at Harvard, saying that school pulled his acceptance over racial slurs he made in private messages when he was 16.

Having been set to attend Harvard in 2020 after taking a year off school, Kashuv announced in a series of tweets on Monday that the Ivy League institute had decided to rescind his acceptance “over texts and comments made nearly two years ago, months prior to the shooting.”

Kashuv was one of the students at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland, Florida, during the February 2018 attack that left 17 students and staff killed and another 17 injured. While Hogg and several other seniors became celebrity gun control activists, Kashuv made public his pro-gun views, including the right to arm school staff.

CAP

He worked for the high-school outreach wing of the pro-Trump organization Turning Point USA, and even met with the president himself. In May, however, someone dug up a private chat from 2016 in which Kashuv repeatedly used a racial slur referring to African-American.

Although he was 16 at the time and the comments were made in private, Kashuv took responsibility in a public apology on Twitter, saying his remarks had been “idiotic,” “callous and inflammatory.”

CAP

Harvard seemingly agreed with his assessment, but didn’t feel like his apology was quite enough. After reviewing the apology letter, the school replied saying he would no longer be welcome to attend, citing concerns over his “maturity and moral character.”

Despite seeking guidance from the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and requesting a face to face meeting regarding the incident, Harvard had already made its decision. In his tweets, Kashuv pointed out the irony of university’s apparent message that in contemporary society, certain “mistakes brand you as irredeemable,” especially considering the school’s own “checkered past.”

CAP

“If Harvard is suggesting that growth isn’t possible and that our past defines our future, then Harvard is an inherently racist institution. But I don’t believe that,” Kashuv added.

Harvard has yet to issue any public response to his comments.
Despite the blow, Kashuv has gotten some support from conservative media personality Ben Shapiro, who argued that uncovering things people said when they were teenagers and holding it against them creates an “insane and cruel”standard, and sets a dangerous precedent.

One has to wonder what implications the decision will have for future applicants– or even those already attending the prestigious institution. Around the same time Kashuv’s comments were unearthed in May, the Harvard Lampoon ran an image of Holocaust victim Anne Frank in a bikini which was widely panned as anti-Semitic and even condemned by the New England regional director of the Anti-Defamation League.

It seems that, at least for the time being, their apology was enough.

2020: Dems Won’t Criticize Biden’s Time as Vice President for Fear of Attacking Obama Legacy ‘political suicide’ to ‘question Obama’s record’

CAP

By Nate Church

Joe Biden’s rivals in the race for the 2020 Democrat presidential nomination are attacking him  from all angles, save one: Biden’s time as Barack Obama’s vice president.

“People are very nostalgic for that time,” an activist told Politico. Among liberal voters, the Obama administration is inextricably entwined with pre-Trump nostalgia. Years after his presidency, Obama remains extremely popular with his base. That is good news for Joe “Malarkey” Biden, who is riding that goodwill toward the Oval Office.

“It’s going to be challenging for progressives to attack that legacy,” said chief executive Yvette Simpson, of the “Democracy for America” PAC. “Because Obama not only is and was so popular, but people are very nostalgic for that time, particularly after a few years of Trump.”

Cory Booker has called a crime bill that Biden helped write in 1994 “awful” and “shameful.” Bernie Sanders has gone after Biden for his support of the Iraq War and NAFTA, while Elizabeth Warren has criticized him as “on the side of the credit card companies.” None of them, however, seem willing to contest any matter from his actual White House tenure, despite Politico noting the left has plenty of issues with the Obama administration’s legacy:

For years, left-wing activists have disapproved of the Obama administration’s management of the economic crash, opioid crisis, immigrant deportations, and ill-fated attempts to compromise with Republicans. But many believe it would be political suicide for progressive presidential candidates to question Obama’s record at length, even in the service of defeating Biden.

Sean McElwee, the co-founder of the left-wing think tank Data for Progress, had an arch response: “The biggest weaknesses Biden has, for the most part, are not things he did in the Obama administration,” he said. “Luckily for progressives, Joe Biden is literally 150 years old, which means he has a half-century of a career otherwise to attack.”

Adam Green, co-founder of Progressive Change Campaign Committee — which recently endorsed Warren over Biden — simply does not think Joe is right for the job. “It’s perfectly consistent to say that President Obama righted the ship and aimed it in a better direction,” he claimed, “but now we have an opportunity to move the ship much further and much faster toward progress.”

“The person to do that is clearly not Joe Biden,” Green added, “as he moves backwards on issues ranging from the Hyde Amendment to NAFTA to a ‘middle ground’ on the existential climate crisis.”

Meanwhile, Biden has drawn a sought-after demographic into his fold: black Americans who supported his “buddy Barack.” Yvette Simpson, head of the progressive Democracy for America PAC acknowledged the risk of alienating that demographic. “Biden’s early advantage among African-Americans has more to do with Obama than Biden. And if you attack that, you start to alienate those voters,” she said.

“Biden is winning, or at least is ahead, because nobody has made the argument that Obama’s policies are the reason that Democrats lost in 2016,” said Matt Stoller, a former Senate Budget Committee aide under Bernie Sanders. “They’re not challenging the fundamental narrative that Joe Biden is running on, which is that Obama did a good job and we need to get back to that.”

“I’ve been bugging the campaigns about it,” he said, but “they’re like, ‘Yeah, yeah, we know, but we don’t have a way to do it.’”
