Hey MSM, you got coronavirus as another opportunity to roast Trump… but do the polls agree?

Screen Shot 2020-03-27 at 11.32.46 AM

President Trump’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic has been slammed by the mainstream media, with certain networks opting not to air his daily press briefings due to “misinformation.” But polls say the public disagrees.

The Washington Post has been fiercely critical of Trump since long before his election. Yet as the paper described his administration as barrelling “toward calamity” this week, a Washington Post-ABC News poll recorded Trump’s highest ever approval rating, with 48 percent of respondents giving the president the thumbs-up, compared to 46 percent disapproving.

That’s the first time Trump has scored positively on the Post’s poll, but when it comes to his handling of the ongoing pandemic which has killed more than 1,300 Americans thus far, the president’s results are even better. Fifty-one percent approve of his stewardship, while 45 percent don’t.

The results are played out across the board. Polls from Fox News, the Economist, Reuters, Gallup, Emerson and Axios all show positive results for Trump. Gallup’s poll found that 60 percent of Americans support Trump’s response to the crisis, while only 38 percent disapprove. Trump’s handling of the crisis has translated into a record high job approval rating in an average of national polls.

Yet the media tells a different story. President Trump’s daily press briefings are – to quote one NPR station in Seattle – so full of “false or misleading information” that the station will no longer air them.

Screen Shot 2020-03-27 at 11.37.49 AM

Staff at CNN and MSNBC have reportedly pleaded with network bosses to drop coverage of the briefings, and the New York Times ran a column on Thursday wondering aloud “should networks cover them?” Individual news personalities have excoriated the president for allegedly spreading baloney. MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow said on her show this week that if Trump “keeps lying…it’s going to cost lives.”

Screen Shot 2020-03-27 at 11.41.11 AM

But the public isn’t listening. The same Gallup poll whose respondents rated Trump at 60 percent found that out of all the institutions responding to the pandemic, Americans rated the news media the worst, with only 44 percent of Americans expressing any trust in it. Even Congress, a perennially unpopular institution in these kinds of surveys, scored higher than the media.

Trump’s bump in popularity can possibly be explained by the “wartime president” effect. In times of great crisis, the electorate tends to put partisan politics aside and rally around their leader. At least that’s how the theory goes. No US president has ever lost a re-election bid during wartime, and Trump has certainly attempted to portray the Covid-19 pandemic as a warlike situation. Describing the virus as an “invisible enemy,” Trump told reporters last week that “I view it as a, in a sense, a wartime president.” Whether Trump manages to keep the public on side as the death toll climbs, however, depends on his actions in the coming weeks.

The public’s falling trust in the media is a slightly more difficult trend to explain. The public’s confidence in journalism has been falling for the better part of a decade, yet the current crisis seems to have exacerbated the downward trend. For one thing, the general public could be tired of the media crying wolf too many times. Rachel Maddow, for instance, raised concern about Trump’s “misinformation,” yet cable news viewers will remember Maddow’s own spreading of bogus ‘Russiagate’ conspiracies during the first three years of Trump’s presidency.

Likewise, the public expects reporters to hold their leaders to account. Given the gravity of the coronavirus situation, the media could be grilling Trump on any number of issues, from his plan to reopen the American economy in a matter of weeks, to the breakdown of the $2 trillion stimulus bill he may sign shortly, to his reluctance to actually enforce the Defense Production Act to manufacture vital medical equipment.

Yet when reporters choose to scold Trump for “racism instead, the general public learns nothing new.

Trump’s gripes with the media are long-standing. However, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic seems to be winning more and more Americans over to his side.

TEXAS ORDERS 14-DAY QUARANTINE FOR NY-NJ-CT & NEW ORLEANS TRAVELERS

Texas Orders 14-Day Quarantine For NY-NJ-CT & New Orleans Travelers

The Big Apple is Coronavirus epicenter of the US, with cases flaring up in New Orleans as well

By Kit Daniels – March 27, 2020

Texas is now requiring air travelers from Coronavirus hotspots to quarantine for 14 days.

Gov. Greg Abbott has ordered travelers from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut – the tri-state area around New York City – and from New Orleans to isolate themselves for no less than 14 days and may only have direct contact with health care providers.

Abbott’s executive order came in response to White House recommending anyone who just visited the New York City area to self-quarantine as the Big Apple is Coronavirus epicenter of the US.

“Every person who enters the State of Texas as the final destination through an airport, from a point of origin or point of last departure in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or the City of New Orleans, or in any other state or city as may be proclaimed hereafter, shall be subject to mandatory self-quarantine for a period of 14 days from the time of entry into Texas or the duration of the person’s presence in Texas, whichever is shorter,” Abbott declared.
“This order to self-quarantine shall not apply to people traveling in connection with military service, emergency response, health response, or critical-infrastructure functions, as may be determined by the Texas Division of Emergency Management.”

“Each person covered under this order to self-quarantine shall be responsible for all associated costs, including
transportation, lodging, food, and medical care.”

Affected travelers are to notify the Texas Dept. of Public Safety of their quarantine location upon disembarking from their flight, the executive order added.

A order will likely to reduce air travel severely from these areas.

Wicked, Immoral Woman: Pelosi Tried to Ram Illegal Ballot Harvesting into Coronavirus Stimulus Bill

By Jim Hoft – March 26, 2020

For Speaker Pelosi, it was never about helping people. It was only about power.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi tried to ram illegal voter harvesting into the $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus bill.

The illegal ballot harvesting provision was removed from the final package but only because Pelosi got caught.
What an evil, wicked woman.

Democrats know cheating by voter harvesting works.
The Democrat Party flipped 7 of 14 Republican House seats in California in 2018 thanks only to voter harvesting tactics.

Ballot harvesting is illegal in most states. In Texas, New York and Pennsylvania they arrest people for ballot harvesting.
Pelosi wants to make to stuff this into the coronavirus stimulus plan.

The Daily Caller wrote about ballot harvesting in 2018.

Passed as a barely noticed change in the state’s vote by mail procedures in 2016 and signed by then-Governor Jerry Brown, California’s AB 1921 allows voters to give any third party — not just a relative or someone living in the same household, as was previously the law — to collect and turn in anyone else’s completed ballot.

Called “ballot harvesting,” critics say the practice is ripe for fraud. Consider “Lulu,” who was recorded trying to “harvest” what she thought was a Democratic voter’s ballot in Rep. Knight’s district.

WATCH: Huge Detroit Gang Fight Occurs in Streets Amidst Coronavirus Lockdown

There was some wildin’ in the Detroit streets on Sunday.

By Shane Trejo – 3/23/2020

A huge fight took place on the streets of Detroit on Sunday with over one hundred residents engaging in the massive skirmish that is the latest stain on the beleaguered and desolate town.

The video of the proceeding can be seen here:

The video has garnered a great deal of shock as Michigan attempts to maintain social distancing and take other precautions to stop the spread of Chinese coronavirus. Even individuals who attended the melee were making exasperated comments about the shameful, violent ordeal.

“What in the corona and boxing is going on here?” the individual shooting the video said.

Everyone seemed befuddled about the reasoning behind the fight, which apparently happened for no good reason.

“This is some kind of rivalry,” a man in the video said. “I mean the whole street.”

“We’re supposed to be quarantined and we’re out here watching a gd*** boxing match on the street … quarantine and fight,” said the videographer.

“This why school needs to be still goin on,” an individual wrote in response to the video on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced a mandatory lock-down throughout the entire state on Monday, with all “non-essential” businesses being forcibly closed. It is expected to be in effect for at least three weeks.

“You can go outside. Get some fresh air, walk your dog. Just be smart about it. Maintain that 6-foot distance,” she said on Monday.

“Let me give you a little perspective here,” she added. “We have about 25,000 acute care beds in Michigan. … That means without aggressive additional measures, more people will get sick, more people will die and our economy will suffer longer.”

Screen Shot 2020-03-26 at 11.32.36 AM

“On a personal note I know the lack of control can be disorienting, so I urge you to focus on what you can control,” Whitmer said while addressing the public. “This crisis can take a toll on your mental health. Check in with family, call your loved ones, go for a walk, read those books on your list, even go outside and put your holiday lights back up.”

“We must keep our wits about us. That means all of us. Be sensitive to how our kids are feeling. They are not immune to the stress of this environment. Check in with them and help them understand, and give them the reassurance that they need,” she added.

These irresponsible Detroit residents, by wildin’ out on the streets during a pandemic, have given the Democrat governor the excuse she needed for another unconstitutional power-grab using coronavirus as the pretense.

‘Data is anonymized’: UK govt accused of ‘fiddling’ Covid-19 death figures amid ‘family consent’ claims

The UK government is facing allegations they are manipulating coronavirus death numbers, after revealing they are changing the way the figures are released, claiming family consent is now required.

On Wednesday night, the Department for Health and Social Care published the latest Covid-19 figures showing an increase of 43 deaths – less than half the fatalities from the previous day (87).

A positive sign that the number had decreased? At first glance, yes, until it’s revealed those figures“do not cover a full 24 hour period” as usual.

So why? BBC Newsnight’s Nick Watt explained that the government was changing the way it releases Covid-19 death figures, which “may not actually be the deaths that have taken place over the last 24 hrs,” as family consent is now required.

The government’s sudden shift in the criteria of reporting coronavirus numbers has provoked accusations that they are manipulating data without a valid reason. Luke Cooper, an associate researcher at LSE Conflict and Civil society research claimed that it “sounds an awful lot like government is fiddling the figures,” insisting that it is “not true” that consent is required “if data is anonymized.”

Echoing that sentiment, Dr. Nisreen Alwan – an associate professor in public health at Southampton University – says that as is the case for information from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), “consent is not needed” for anonymized mortality data.

Sam Fowles, a barrister that advised Another Europe – a pro-EU campaign group – on its GDPR compliance concurred, adding that “even if it were personal data, the government could arguably publish on the basis of overwhelming public interest. But in any case, it isn’t.”

PM Johnson ordered a temporary national lockdown on Monday and advised British people to “stay at home” outside of emergencies, buying essential supplies or getting exercise, otherwise they face the possibility of fines and even arrest.

The number of confirmed UK cases of Covid-19 currently stands at 9,529 – a rise of 1,452 in 24 hours.

Former UK PM Gordon Brown: Time for ‘Global Government’ to Tackle Coronavirus

Peter Macdiarmid/Getty Images

By Simon Kent – 26 Mar 2020

Now is the time for global leaders to create one world government to tackle the twin medical and economic crises caused by the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown urged on Thursday.

The left-wing former Labour leader said there was a need for a taskforce involving world leaders, health experts and the heads of international organisations that would have supreme and unfettered executive powers to coordinate the response.

He gave no indication of who would appoint the “leaders,” how long they would serve for or just what their powers would involve, the Guardian reports.

Brown simply wants a new layer of global supra-government to force a solution to a crisis that began in Wuhan, China.

“This is not something that can be dealt with in one country,” he said. “There has to be a coordinated global response.”

Brown said the current crisis was different to the one he was involved in 2008 during the global financial crash. “That was an economic problem that had economic causes and had an economic solution.

“This is first and foremost a medical emergency and there has to be joint action to deal with that. But the more you intervene to deal with the medical emergency, the more you put economies at risk.”

Brown said his proposed global taskforce would fight the crisis on two fronts. There would need to be a coordinated effort to find a vaccine, and to organise production, purchasing and prevent profiteering.

“We need some sort of working executive,” Brown said. “If I were doing it again, I would make the G20 a broader organisation because in the current circumstances you need to listen to the countries that are most affected, the countries that are making a difference and countries where there is the potential for a massive number of people to be affected – such as those in Africa.”

The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund needed an increase in their financial firepower to cope with the impact of the crisis on low- and middle-income countries, he said.

Man Charged with Terroristic Threat for Allegedly Coughing on Grocery Store Worker

The police state is growing because of the coronavirus pandemic.

By Shane Trejo

A man has been charged with a terroristic threat after allegedly coughing on a grocery store employee while saying that he had the coronavirus over the weekend.

This individual reportedly committed this assault at a Wegman’s in New Jersey. 50-year-old George Falcone of Freehold, N.J. is the suspect. He is also being charged with obstructing administration of law or other governmental function and harassment following the incident.

The incident took place on Sunday after a Wegman’s employee allegedly requested for Falcone to stand further away from her while she was preparing food. This reportedly offended Falcone, who leaned into her and purposefully coughed while facetiously saying that he had coronavirus while laughing. He faces up to seven years in prison and a fine up to $26,000 for his alleged actions.

Trending: SHOCK VIDEO: Chinese People Repeatedly Attempt to Spread Coronavirus in Public

“These are extremely difficult times in which all of us are called upon to be considerate of each other — not to engage in intimidation and spread fear, as alleged in this case,” said far-left New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal.

“We must do everything we can to deter this type of conduct and any similar conduct that harms others during this emergency,” he added.

Grewal, who opened the flood gates for illegal immigrants in his state, has used coronavirus pandemic as an excuse to crack down on supposed hate speech related to the origin of the virus.

Big League Politics has reported on Grewal’s proposed diversity gestapo:

New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal issued a “guidance” on Thursday telling employers that they may be guilty of illegal discrimination if they allow workers to call the COVID-19 coronavirus “the Chinese virus.”

“Among the guidance’s keynotes are that employers may be in violation of the LAD’s prohibition on disability discrimination if they fire an employee for exhibiting possible COVID-19 symptoms,” Grewal explained in his press release.

He added: “The guidance also states that employers must take reasonable action to stop harassment of one employee by another employee if the employer knows or should have known about it: for example, if one employee has east-Asian heritage and a coworker repeatedly harasses her by claiming that Asian people caused COVID-19 or calling this ‘the Chinese virus.’”

Grewal claims that noting the virus originated from China is a violation of the New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination (LAD). During a time in which resources are being stretched in an unprecedented crisis, this is what Grewal is concerned about.

“COVID-19 is no excuse for racism, xenophobia, or hate,”Grewal said. “Discrimination and harassment in violation of New Jersey law remains illegal even if it occurs against the backdrop of a global pandemic. Now, more than ever, we should recognize that we’re all in this together. Words and actions that divide us won’t make any of us safer or stronger.”

He is urging citizens to snitch on their fellow man during the coronavirus crisis in case someone’s feelings get hurt.

When the coronavirus pandemic ends, it is not likely that Americans will regain the many liberties they have lost throughout the crisis.

MAN WHO LICKED PRODUCTS AT WALMART CHARGED WITH MAKING TERRORIST THREAT

Man Who Licked Products at Walmart Charged with Making Terrorist Threat

Missouri man asked, ‘Who’s afraid of the coronavirus?’ before licking various items on Walmart shelf

By Adan Salazar – March 25, 2020

A Missouri man who filmed himself licking products at a retail store was reportedly charged with making terrorist threats.

In the video which went viral on social media, Cody Pfister, 26, asks, “Who’s afraid of the coronavirus?” before proceeding to lick several items at a Walmart in Warrenton.

According to police, Pfister’s antics prompted anger across the globe, with people from several countries in Europe calling into the Warrenton Police Department to report the heinous act.

“A local resident who took a video of themselves licking the merchandise after making a ‘Corona Virus’ statement at Walmart and posting it to social media has been taken into custody,” Warrenton police wrote in a Facebook post.

Screen Shot 2020-03-25 at 11.32.47 AM

“This particular video, which won’t be shared here, has gained some international attention and we have received numerous reports about the video from locals, nearby residents, as well as people from the Netherlands, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.”

“We take these complaints very seriously and would like to thank all of those who reported the video so the issue could be addressed,” they added.

The Riverfront Times reports Pfister, who made the video on March 11 and has previously been convicted of burglary and firearm theft, was charged with making a terrorist threat, according to court documents obtained by the media outlet.

“Pfister was taken into custody this week, and Warren County prosecutors charged him today. The charge is a low-level felony,” reports The Times’ Doyle Murphy.

“Pfister was booked into the Warren County jail without bond.”

Pfister was possibly making the video in relation to the new coronavirus social media challenge, which had people licking objects such as toilet seats for social media clout.

One YouTuber who took part in the challenge and posted a video of him licking the rim of a public toilet seat reportedly contracted coronavirus following the stunt.

Homeland Security warns terrorists may exploit COVID-19 pandemic

By Alexander Mallin and Josh Margolin – 3/25/2020

A Department of Homeland Security memo sent to law enforcement officials around the country warns that violent extremists could seek to take advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic by carrying out attacks against the U.S.

“Violent extremists probably are seeking to exploit public fears associated with the spread of COVID-19 to incite violence, intimidate targets and promote their ideologies, and we assess these efforts will intensify in the coming months,” according to the intelligence bulletin, compiled by the agency’s Counterterrorism Mission Center and Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office.

At this time, DHS said it has “no information indicating any active plotting is underway,” but that it has observed certain extremist groups, both foreign and domestic, looking to spread misinformation about the coronavirus.

The memo, which was circulated on Monday, comes after assurances from FBI Director Chris Wray in a video message that agents would be even more vigilant in monitoring threats to the U.S. as the virus spreads.

“With all the worry and uncertainty out there, we want the public to know that there are still things they can count on: We’re here, and we’re going to stay here, to protect them, no matter what,” Wray said. “Because our criminal and national security adversaries sure aren’t going to take a day off — whether that’s for the coronavirus or, for that matter, anything else.”

Among the activities by extremist organizations cited in the DHS bulletin is a clipping from a weekly ISIS newsletter, which called for supporters to carry out attacks against overburdened health care systems in various Western countries.

Another portion of the bulletin singles out activity by white supremacists online who the DHS says have “advocated for violence against a range of targets, including critical infrastructure and faith-based and minority communities — including Asian Americans in response to the COVID outbreak.”

ABC News reported on Monday on an alert from the FBI’s New York field office that showed intelligence gathered on racist extremist groups, including neo-Nazis, that were encouraging followers who contract COVID-19 to spread the disease to Jewish people and police officers.
