Omar Questions the Patriotism of American-Born Citizens

Freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) on Saturday questioned the patriotism of American-born citizens, claiming she “probably love[s] this country more than anyone who is naturally born” in the United States.

Omar participated in a foreign policy panel at the liberal Netroots Nation conference in Philadelphia when she made her comment. Omar began her remarks by making light of her past anti-Semitic comments and the backlash that has resulted from them.

“Something that I get criticized for all the time. It’s not what you think, so don’t gasp,” Omar said, prompting laughter from the panel and audience.

“It is that I am anti-American because I criticize the United States,” Omar said. “I believe, as an immigrant, I probably love this country more than anyone that is naturally born and because I am ashamed of it continuing to live in its hypocrisy.”

She went on to talk about how people ask her why she can’t be “more like an American,” noting how it “used to be a very positive thing.”

“We export American exceptionalism, the great America, the land of liberty and justice. If you ask anybody walking on the side of the street somewhere in the middle of the world they will tell you, ‘America the great,’ but we don’t live those values here. That hypocrisy is one that I am bothered by. I want America the great to be America the great.

Omar is the first Somali-American elected to Congress. She arrived in the United States when she was 12-years-old after she fled Somalia during a civil war for a Kenyan refugee camp with her family.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said Sunday that President Donald Trump is “stoking white nationalism” after he penned an earlier tweet suggesting that a few unidentified progressive congresswomen should “go back” to where they came from.

“You are stoking white nationalism because you are angry that people like us are serving in Congress and fighting against your hate-filled agenda,” Omar, who was born in Somalia and came to the U.S. as a refugee with her family, tweeted.

Omar’s tweet was a response to Trump’s series of Sunday morning tweets telling a group of progressive Democrat lawmakers to “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came” before coming back to show the U.S. “how it is done.”

His tweets evoked a response from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who “rejected” Trump’s “xenophobic comments meant to divide our nation” and urged him to come up with an immigration policy that would “stop the raids.”

Rep. Justin Amash (I-MI) also condemned Trump’s comments, noting that most people in the group he singled out were American citizens who were “born here.”

“To tell these American citizens (most of whom were born here) to ‘go back’ to the ‘crime infested places from which they came’ is racist and disgusting,” Amash wrote.

Three men were killed, and at least 16 other people were wounded in city shootings since Friday evening, including five shot in a single attack in the Gresham neighborhood, Chicago police said.

In that shooting, shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday, the five people were shot in the 7900 block of South Loomis Boulevard in the South Side’s Gresham neighborhood.

Police said a group was gathered on a sidewalk when a gray sedan pulled up, and someone opened fire. A 29-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. A 31-year-old man was also taken to Christ Medical Center in critical condition with a wound to the back and chest. A 27-year-old man was shot in the right leg along with a woman, 24, who was shot in the hip; both were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where their conditions were stabilized. A fifth victim, a 37-year-old man, suffered a graze wound to the wrist but refused treatment, police said.

Of the homicides, the most recent happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of South Loomis Street on the Lower West Side in the Pilsen neighborhood, police said.

The unidentified victim, a 36-year-old man, was found outside on a back porch with several gunshot wounds to the body. Witnesses said they heard shots and found the man unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

About 2:20 a.m. Saturday, George Bingham was slain on the West Side in the East Garfield Park neighborhood in the 2800 block of West Washington Boulevard, said police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Witnesses reported hearing shots and seeing a man lying on the ground next to a 2008 Chrysler minivan. Bingham, 57, was struck in the back of the neck and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Bingham lived in the 7500 block of South Parnell Avenue, the medical examiner’s office said.

Raymont A. Hicks, 31, was shot about 6 p.m. Friday in the first block of East 87th Street in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side. Witnesses told police someone in a black sedan fired shots at the victim before fleeing the scene, police said.

Hicks, of the 200 block of East 87th Street, suffered wounds to the chest and head, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office and police.

In other shootings:

Around 6:25 a.m. Saturday, a 21-year-old man was shot multiple times in the lower back and lower extremities by someone who approached him and fired shots in the 4900 block of West Superior Street in the West Side’s South Austin neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.
About 5:55 a.m., two men told police that someone in a blue SUV fired shots at them in the 12300 block of South State Street, hitting them both. The two men got themselves to Roseland Community Hospital but were later transferred to Stroger. The older victim was in good condition with a gunshot wound to the hand, and the younger victim was in serious condition with a wound to the abdomen, police said.
Shortly after 5:20 a.m., three people were shot in the 5100 block of West Chicago Avenue on the West Side in the South Austin neighborhood. A 38-year-old man walked into a firehouse on Chicago Avenue with wounds to his left arm and chest. He was treated by paramedics and was later taken to Stroger Hospital, where he left. Another two victims, 29 and 39, were taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park. Both had gunshot wounds to the legs and were in good condition. The younger of those victims also left the hospital. Police said all three victims were uncooperative.
About 3:20 a.m. on the Far South Side, a 30-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were shot while sitting in a vehicle in the 12000 block of South Wallace Street in the West Pullman neighborhood. A gunman on foot approached the vehicle and fired shots into a passenger side window. The man was shot several times in the arms and torso, and ran to the 12100 block of South Normal Avenue, where he was found by police. The woman stayed inside the car and suffered wounds to the arms and the legs. Both victims went to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where their conditions were serious but had stabilized, police said.
Just before 3 a.m., a 40-year-old man was shot in the 2800 block of West Congress Parkway in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side. Witnesses said a man, possibly wearing a white tank top, fled the scene shortly after shots were fired. The victim suffered wounds to the abdomen and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
About 2:30 a.m., a 25-year-old woman was on the sidewalk gathered with friends in the 2000 block of West 69th Street in the South Side’s West Englewood neighborhood when someone on foot approached from a gangway and opened fire. The woman suffered a wound to the leg and was taken in good condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.
Shortly after 5 p.m. Friday, a 22-year-old man was wounded in the 4000 block of West Madison Street in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side. Police said the victim was on the sidewalk when someone exited a gray vehicle and opened fire in his direction. The man was shot in the right hip and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

Police reported no arrests in any of the attacks.

Poll Finds Massive Support For Bill to Force Big Tech Companies to be Politically Neutral

A new poll from Echelon Insights found Senator Josh Hawley’s bill which aims to force Big Tech companies to be politically neutral was “the most popular tech-related proposal” out of multiple plans tested.

The plan is supported by voters from both parties and Independents by huge margins.

“Americans are tired of Big Tech censorship. Time to listen to them, not the Big Tech-funded apologists,” Hawley said on Twitter, linking to the above poll.

Though voters from both parties are clamoring for Big Tech to be reigned in without any action on the part of our congress, 140 House Republicans just voted with Democrats to give a massive handout to Google and other tech giants by passing a bill that will hand out hundreds of thousands of green cards to Indian contract workers so they can drive down wages and outsource our nation’s jobs.

The disconnect between what the public actually wants and what our sold out (or blackmailed?) criminal congress is giving us could not be any bigger.

Leftists removed a U.S. flag and replaced it with a Mexican flag outside of an ICE processing center in Aurora, Colorado, to protest the detention of illegal immigrants and upcoming deportation raids.

Hundreds of protesters had gathered outside the ICE facility Friday evening, and after tearing down the American flag spray painted graffiti that read “Abolish ICE” on a Blue Lives Matter flag before flying it upside down.

Fortunately, authorities put the American flag back up shortly after the leftist demonstration.

TERRORIST WHO FIREBOMBED ICE FACILITY WROTE IN MANIFESTO: “I AM ANTIFA”

The terrorist who firebombed an ICE facility in Washington State yesterday released a manifesto before the attack stating, “I am Antifa” and said the attack was motivated by his opposition to “concentration camps” in the U.S.

69-year-old Willem Van Spronsen was shot dead by police after he threw Molotov cocktails at the building and nearby cars on Saturday morning.

According to his manifesto, a copy of which was obtained by Jack Posobiec, Van Spronsen was armed with an AR-15 and stated, “I am Antifa”.

The rest of the manifesto is a rambling advocacy of identity politics mixed with hysteria about “concentration camps,” which clearly suggests that Van Spronsen was radicalized by fringe rhetoric from the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

At one point in the manifesto, Van Spronsen thanks his “trans comrades” and explains that he was armed with a semi-automatic weapon, suggesting he clearly planned to commit a massacre.

The Antifa gun club that Van Spronsen attended also locked its Twitter account down following the revelations.

As Posobiec highlights, “Two months ago CNN ran a story promoting the Tacoma Redneck Revolt chapter of Antifa,” of which Van Spronsen was a member.

The revelation that Van Spronsen considered himself to be an Antifa member will increase pressure on authorities to officially declare the group a domestic terrorist organization.

Back in July 2017, the Department of Homeland Security in New Jersey officially listedAntifa as a domestic terrorist organization after a rash of violent attacks by the group targeting supporters of Donald Trump.
