Kids in cages: House Dems scrub tweet with photo of Obama-era detention center used to attack Trump

House Democrats have erased a tweet promoting a hearing on the effects of President Trump’s border policies on children after finding out they used a photo depicting a migrant detention center under President Obama’s watch.

The tweet was posted in anticipation of a hearing scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, dubbed ‘Kids in Cages: Inhumane Treatment at the Border’, and included a dramatic photo backdrop displaying the dismal conditions at US migrant detention facilities – but it was soon deleted after conservative critics pointed out the origins of the image.

“Last week, members of our committee visited a detention center at the southern border and discovered grotesque treatment of children,” reads the now-deleted tweet, posted on Tuesday. “This week, we are examining the inhumane treatment of the children in these detention centers.”

The congressional Democrats then had another go at it, but their alternative photo choice, much to the lawmakers’ immediate embarrassment, was also taken while President Obama was still in office. The second tweet was deleted in record time and replaced with nothing, as apparently the many thousands of up-to-date photos of the detention centers fail to convey the same sense of horror as the Obama-era images. Or perhaps a third photo was simply too much effort.

Opponents of the Trump administration have previously used the same photo to attack the president’s border policies, to such an extent that the Associated Press was forced to publish a story clarifying that the image in question was captured in 2014, smack in the middle of Obama’s second term. The AP, not exactly a pro-Trump media arm, kindly requested critics to stop attributing the images to Donald Trump.

While the Oversight Committee’s Wednesday hearing featured plenty of cogent criticisms of President Trump’s approach to the border, it seems that for many Democrats, “inhumane” policies aren’t so objectionable as long as the right person is sitting in the chair.

JOY REID: TRUMP TREATING MIGRANTS WITH ‘CRUELTY’ BECAUSE ‘BASE WANTS TO SEE THIS’

Joy Reid: Trump Treating Migrants with 'Cruelty' Because 'Base Wants to See This'

MSNBC host paints Trump supporters as inhumane psychopaths ahead of ICE deportations

By Mark Finkelstein

On her MSNBC show this morning, Joy Reid slurred Trump supporters as a bunch of sadists who want to see people at the border cruelly mistreated.

Here was Reid.

“I think I quote you every week, Adam: the cruelty is the point. That’s why they’re doing it, right? His base wants to see this. And so he’s showing them that he can dehumanize them. Isn’t that message coming from the White House, that essentially you don’t have to treat these people like human beings. Who cares?”

Reid’s mention of quoting Adam Serwer every week was a reference to his article in The Atlantic, “The Cruelty is the Point.”

Note: after agreeing with Reid that the White House is sending a message that the people at the border are “not real human beings,” Serwer added the caveat that the Trump admin is concerned, for PR reasons, about images of children allegedly being mistreated.

Here’s the transcript:

JOY REID: You know, the dehumanization of these folks, it did remind me, you know, Chris Hayes put up a post, it brings back sort of the memories of the way people treated others during the invasion of Iraq. The sense of, these aren’t even people. Or in our own past. The way that people were able to treat others, whether it’s from enslavement on. They’re just not people so we don’t have to think of them as human beings.

. . .

I think I quote you every week, Adam: the cruelty is the point. That’s why they’re doing it, right? His base wants to see this. And so he’s showing them that he can dehumanize them. Isn’t that message coming from the White House, that essentially you don’t have to treat these people like human beings. Who cares?

ADAM SERWER: I do think the message is coming from the White House that these people are not real human beings and you don’t have to treat them properly.

Border Patrol: Democrat Congresswoman Veronica Escobar’s Staff Goes To Mexico To Undermine Us

By Patrick Howley

Democrat congresswoman Veronica Escobar oversees a staff that goes to Mexico to actively undermine Border Patrol by advising migrants on possible U.S. government mistakes with regard to their deportation cases, according to members of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the National Border Patrol Council in El Paso, Texas, in the heart of the migrant invasion zone.

“What we believe is happening is Veronica Escobar’s office is going…to basically second-guess and obstruct work already done by the Border Patrol,” a National Border Patrol Council member stated in an interview with the Washington Examiner.

Escobar came to political prominence by agitating for hotel rooms for illegal migrants in El Paso.

I reported in January with a New York Times-style headline, “Budget Inn Baby-Bath Attack Reveals Challenges in Finding Hotel Rooms For Migrants“:

A Guatemalan man was arrested for allegedly breaking into a Budget Inn motel room in El Paso, Texas to grope and assault a woman while she was holding her one-year old baby, giving the child a bath. The alleged victim was also Guatemalan. This arrest spotlights the challenges that social justice activists face in their efforts to house the hundreds of migrants dropped off by ICE agents at an El Paso bus station after a court decision won their release.

The Budget Inn is reportedly housing some migrants for the time being. Francisco Tojin Maldonado’s arrest for burglary of habitation, in connection with the baby bath attack, has yet to be reported widely by the mainstream media.

Since the migrants dropped off at the bus station cannot be detained, it is unclear what is going to happen to them.

Texas Democrat congresswoman Veronica Escobar recently put the issue in perspective, highlighting the scourge of Sun Bowl college football players taking up El Paso hotel rooms that could be used to store migrants.

“We have these teams coming in to play in our Sun Bowl this weekend and the hotels are booked. We’re facing a real crisis coming up … to find places for all of these (migrant) families,” stated Veronica Escobar.

Finding hotel rooms for so many people can indeed be frustrating.

Nevertheless, voices in the community are striving to enact change.

“But if I don’t live in El Paso, if I haven’t had the experience that we’ve had, if I live in Michigan, Iowa, Oregon, the northern border, I don’t … I may not know any better, and ‘Shit, the president of the United States just said that there are rapists and criminals and murderers who will chop your head off coming to get us. Fuck yeah, build a wall.’ And so … I can see responding that way,” saidDemocrat Texas congressman Beto O’Rourke, who has taken to the streets of El Paso to communicate his message.

THE MEDIA IS YET AGAIN TRYING TO EMOTIONALLY MANIPULATE PEOPLE TO ACCEPT OPEN BORDERS BY EXPLOITING PHOTOS OF DEAD CHILDREN

The Media is Yet Again Trying to Emotionally Manipulate People to Accept Open Borders by Exploiting Photos of Dead Children

Same old dirty trick

JUNE 26, 2019

The media is yet again trying to emotionally manipulate people into accepting open borders by exploiting photos of dead children.

The same press and left-wing talking heads who claim that showing child victims of Islamic terror attacks is “insensitive” are all too willing to share photos of child victims who supposedly died because evil western countries have borders.

“It’s OK when we do it.”

The left has found its new ‘Aylan Kurdi’ – a toddler who washed up dead on a beach in Turkey and whose dead body photo was ruthlessly exploited by progressives to demand western Europe throw open its borders to Middle Eastern migrants.

The latest image shows a man and his 23 month old daughter lying face down dead along the bank of the Rio Grande.

Screen Shot 2019-06-26 at 11.23.51 AM

It is now being breathlessly shared by leftists are yet more proof that the Nazi-like Trump administration has enacted policies that are killing brown people en masse.

In reality, as Raheem Kassam points out, the fault for this poor child’s death lies firmly at the feet of numerous entities, none of which are Trump or his administration.

– The child’s parents for making her cross “some of the most perilous terrain on the continent”.

– Mexico for allowing their country to become a conduit for mass illegal immigration.

– Criminal gangs who are responsible for much of the instability in the region.

– Democrats who incentivize illegal immigration by refusing to support sensible border policies.

– Open borders activists funded by NGOs and corporations who also incentivize dangerous illegal immigration.

The most humanitarian way to prevent tragic scenes like the one above is to disincentivize illegal border crossings.

Matteo Salvini did it and more than halved the number of migrant deaths in the Mediterranean.

If Democrats actually cared about kids dying, they’d help President Trump build the wall.

Do leftists actually want to save the lives of children, or do they want to continue to exploit photos of their dead bodies to score political points and usurp power?

The answer is obvious.

Donald Trump: U.S., Guatemala Negotiate Legal Wall Against Migrants

Honduran migrants walk along the roadside through Esquipulas, Guatemala, as they make their way toward the U.S. border, early Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019. The latest caravan of Honduran migrants hoping to reach the U.S. has crossed into Guatemala.

By Neil Munro

The United States and Guatemala are preparing to sign a “safe third country” agreement to help curb Central American migration, a late-night Monday tweet from President Donald Trump revealed.

If signed, the agreement will give U.S. border officers the legal authority to quickly repatriate migrants who pass through Guatemala, regardless of the catch-and-release loopholes created and preserved by the U.S. Congress and courts. In effect, the deal would create a legal wall against Latin American, African, and Indian migrants who pass through Guatemala.

The tweet also said enforcement agencies will accelerate the repatriation of “millions” of illegal immigrants — even though Democrats and many establishment GOP legislators are blocking the legal reforms and funding needed to repatriate more than a small percentage of the more-than-11-million illegal migrants now living throughout the United States.

Screen Shot 2019-06-18 at 11.00.39 AM

Trump’s deputies are also pushing Mexico to sign a safe third country deal if Mexico cannot sharply reduce the huge migration by Latin Americans through its own territory to the United States.

Pro-migration advocates denounced the Guatemalan “safe third country” plan — even though their policies are allowing up to 1 million Central American migrants to flood into Americans’ workplaces, neighborhoods, and classrooms. That wave of migrants — which now includes a growing number of Africans and Indians — is good for university class professionals, investors, and for business groups, but it hurts ordinary Americans by lowering wages, raising rents and importing more chaotic diversity.

“I don’t know what this is about,” said a tweet from Todd Schulte, director of a pro-migration, cheap-labor lobbying group set by West Coast investors, including Mark Zuckerberg. He continued:

But ICE does NOT have the ability/resources to “begin the process of removing millions” of people. People should be responsible when sharing this & note that, especially in these tough times. On “Safe Third Country”, its designed to end all asylum.

However, the plan for a safe third country deal with Guatemala has hit a major obstacle on June 13, according to the Voice of America news service:

The State Department readout on the first day of talks suggested that there had been a “complete misinterpretation” by the Guatemalans regarding the draft agreement.

According to the readout, Guatemalan ministers reiterated “political will to reach an asylum burden sharing agreement,” but raised “legal and constitutional issues” that would make a safe third country agreement “a challenging lift.”

Rather than wrapping up the talks before Guatemala’s scheduled national election on Sunday, the talks are likely to continue into next week.

The readout, sent by email Thursday evening from State Department legal adviser Marik String to staff, was obtained by VOA Friday morning from a State Department official who declined to be identified.

But according to the internal readout, the draft White House agreement was being viewed differently by the two sides.

“While [the Guatemalans] are supportive of taking returns from the United States, they did not realize they would be obligated to process the asylum claims of the returned individuals,” String wrote.

According to String, the Guatemalan government thought the agreement would be “analogous to Mexican Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP),” a system currently in place between Mexico and the U.S. requiring migrants seeking asylum in the U.S. to wait in Mexico pending the adjudication of their claims.

The “Remain in Mexico” program is a step short of “safe third country.”

It allows the U.S. officials to send large numbers of migrants back into Mexico until U.S. officials are ready to bring them in for their asylum hearing before a judge. That policy prevents the migrants from getting U.S. jobs — and so prevents the cartels from getting paid for delivering migrants to the U.S. border. Only about one-in-six migrants have been awarded asylum during the last few years, partly because the vast majority are economic migrants who would drive down wages for Americans.

Immigration by the Numbers

Each year, roughly four million young Americans join the workforce after graduating from high school or university.

But the federal government then imports about 1.1 million legal immigrants and refreshes a resident population of roughly 1.5 million white-collar visa workers — including approximately one million H-1B workers — and approximately 500,000 blue-collar visa workers.

The government also prints out more than one million work permits for foreigners, tolerates about eight million illegal workers, and does not punish companies for employing the hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants who sneak across the border or overstay their legal visas each year.

This policy of inflating the labor supply boosts economic growth for investors because it ensures that employers do not have to compete for American workers by offering higher wages and better working conditions.

Flooding the market with cheap, foreign, white-collar graduates and blue-collar labor also shifts enormous wealth from young employees towards older investors, even as it also widens wealth gaps, reduces high-tech investment, increases state and local tax burdens, and hurts children’s schools and college educations. It also pushes Americans away from high-tech careers and sidelines millions of marginalized Americans, including many who are now struggling with fentanyl addictions. The labor policy also moves business investment and wealth from the Heartland to the coastal citiesexplodes rents and housing costsshrivels real estate values in the Midwest, and rewards investors for creating low-tech, labor-intensive workplaces.

Migrant Crossed Texas Border with Molotov Cocktail, Say Police

Joel Salinas Garcia mugshot

By Bob Price

Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a Mexican national with a history of immigration violations for allegedly carrying a Molotov cocktail as he crossed the boundary near Roma, Texas.

Border Patrol agents working near Roma came upon a Mexican national who had allegedly crossed illegally from his home country. Agents found the 53-year-old man hiding in the brush with a “homemade gasoline bomb,” Valley Central CBS4 reported this week.

Authorities told the news outlet that agents found Joel Salinas Garcia, a Mexican national, with a glass container filled with gasoline and a cloth stuffed in the top of the bottle, the news outlet reported. Officials said the situation could have turned deadly.

Public records obtained by the local CBS affiliate indicate Garcia has a history of at least two arrests for illegal entry into the U.S., the article stated.

Garcia’s mugshot reveals a heavily tattooed man with “Mexico” emblazoned across his stomach.

KRGV reported the device to be a “Molotov cocktail.” The report indicates the Mexican national is being held on an immigration violation and a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon. No one was hurt during the arrest, officials stated.

Breitbart News reached out to the Roma Police Department for more information about the incident. An immediate response from police officials was not available.

Mexico begins roll-out of troops along its southern border following Trump’s tariff threat

CAP

Mexico has started deploying its National Guard to its southern border, as part of a bargain with Washington to do more to curb the flow of Central American migrants, or to endure threatened tariff hikes on its imports to the US.

Speaking during a press briefing on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said the roll-out of some 6,000 troops across its border with Guatemala had commenced and would “progress rapidly” over the “coming days.” It follows an agreement reached with the Trump administration on Friday, at which Mexico pledged to up its game in stemming the flow of migrants trying to get into US. The deal narrowly avoided Washington making good on its threat to slap Mexican imports with a 5 percent increase in duties, a sanction for its perceived inaction on the issue.

US signed ‘another very important part’ of immigration deal with Mexico – Trump

CAP

Mexico has also agreed to have these efforts monitored over the next 45 days to see how effective they have been, with Ebrard noting “a lot of things have to happen” over that period.

He added that his ministry was already in talks with neighboring Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, from where most people are coming from, and a working group had been formed to discuss areas of cooperation on stopping the flow of people from Central America. Further details will be arranged with US immigration officials on Friday.

Joined by Ebrard was Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. On the subject of how Mexico would pay for the increased security, Obradror said the increased security would be in part paid for by the off-loading of the presidential jet and helicopters purchased by his predecessor. Worth a minimum of $150 million, the sale of the jet fulfils one of Obrador’s first promises to citizens following his election last year.

“We are selling all the planes and helicopters that the corrupt politicians used,” Obrador told a rally in December, much to the delight of his supporters.

“THIS IS FOR AFGHANISTAN”: SHOCKING BOTTLE ATTACK BY MIGRANT IN GERMANY CAUGHT ON CAMERA

"This is For Afghanistan": Shocking Bottle Attack by Migrant in Germany Caught on Camera

Viral video showcases disgusting act of random violence

JUNE 12, 2019

A shock video out of Germany shows a migrant smashing a bottle over another young man’s head while saying, “This is for Afghanistan.”

It is not known where the incident took place, but the video began circulating on social media earlier today.

The young migrant is seen talking in German on camera while holding the bottle in his hand.

He then states, “This is for Afghanistan” before smashing the bottle over the head of a white German man, who then screams out in pain as he lay bleeding on the street.

According to the German government’s own statistics, violent crime in Germany rose by 10 per cent between 2015 and 2016, when the country began accepting large numbers of migrants, many of them young men. More than 90 per cent of the rise was attributable to young male “refugees”.

“Young male refugees in Germany got the blame…. for most of a two-year increase in violent crime,” reported Reuters.

We anticipate this story receiving widespread media coverage to the same extent that a similar attack on a migrant would receive.

Or maybe not.
