Former Supermarket Boss Warns of Potential Coronavirus “Food Riots,” Army Patrols

Grocery stores may have to take drastic measures.

Former Tesco supply chain director Bruno Monteyne warns that a large scale outbreak of coronavirus in the UK could lead to “food riots,” requiring the army to be used to guard supermarkets.

Monteyne said that supermarkets would have to resort to drastic measures and revert to “feed the nation status” under a worse case scenario.

He also cautioned that grocery stores would have trouble stocking shelves and delivering goods if their employees decided to self-isolate.

“Yes, it will be chaotic (and expect pictures of empty shelves),” wrote Mr Monteyne, “but the industry will reduce complexity to keep the country fed.”

He said that the army may need to be drafted in to guard stores and prevent disorder.

UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock said he was “confident” food supplies would not run out and that there was “absolutely no need” to panic-buy.

Hancock also claimed that supermarkets could deliver food to coronavirus patients who had self-isolated, although this claim was immediately put in doubt by one supermarket executive, who said he was “baffled” by the suggestion.

“Matt Hancock has totally made up what he said about working with supermarkets. We haven’t heard anything from government directly,” the executive said, adding, “I’m not sure the government can guarantee all food supply in all instances.”

A source at another supermarket told the BBC that there had been no detailed planning involving government departments about “ensuring uninterrupted food supplies.”

Panic buying continued across the UK today, with supermarket shelves of goods like hand sanitizer, toilet paper and medicine.

The number of coronavirus cases in the UK has now reached 163, with two deaths.

First Coronavirus death in the UK as California declares state emergency

3/5/2020

The patient had been in and out of hospital for issues unrelated to the coronavirus. But when they were tested at the Royal Berkshire hospital last night it was confirmed they had the virus. The death is the first in the UK where there are now 116 confirmed cases. The Chief Medical Officer says the UK is preparing to move from the ‘contain’ into the ‘delay phase’ of dealing with the outbreak. This second phase means that measures to tackle it will be ramped up.

This government has failed us. We had the perfect opportunity as an island to avoid this.

IRANIAN GENERAL: CORONAVIRUS IS A MANMADE BIO-WEAPON

Iranian General: Coronavirus Is A Manmade Bio-Weapon

Suggests US unleashed virus against China and Iran

Steve Watson  – MARCH 5, 2020

An Iranian military leader has suggested that the coronavirus is not a naturally occurring disease, and that it is a manmade bioweapon cultivated and released against China and Iran by a ‘hostile state’.

Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali, an Iranian officer in charge of the country’s Civil Defense Organization claimed Tuesday that “A study of the consequences of the virus in terms of tolls or the extent of the epidemic and the type of media propaganda over this issue that is aimed at increasing fear and panic among people strengthens the speculations that a biological attack has been launched against China and Iran with economic goals.”

Strongly hinting that the the virus is a bio-attack by the US, Jalali told Iranian Fars News Agency, state media, that he is seeking “laboratorial investigations and comparing the genome of the primary virus and the new genomes” to confirm his theory.

Iran has been accused of covering up the real extent of the outbreak within its borders. At time of writing it has officially recorded only 92 deaths from 2,922 cases, but those numbers are significantly lower than what independent reports and claims from dissident groups within the country suggest. The real number of deaths is thought to be in the high hundreds or thousands.

Videos uploaded to YouTube by the dissident groups purport to show people collapsing in the streets of Tehran from the effects of the virus, and are reminiscent of previous videos from China:

The BBC published footage that is said to be from Iran, showing hundreds of bodies in bags at a local morgue in Qom. Mideast-based correspondent Joyce Karam commented that “If these are confirmed to be from Corona as videos claim, death toll is higher than the government claims.”
Other videos show preparations for mass graves, and health workers in full Hazmat gear burying victims:

Iranian dictator Ayatollah Khamenei issued a statement Tuesday urging that the “jihad” against coronavirus is proving successful, and that the outbreak “is not such a big tragedy.”

“I don’t want to say it’s unimportant, but let’s not exaggerate it either. The Coronavirus will affect the country briefly & leave. But the experience it brings, and the actions of the people & the govt sectors, are like a public exercise that will remain as an achievement,” Khamenei said.

The idea that the virus originated in a lab has been a talking point ever since the outbreak started, with some US officials and western biological experts expressing concern that coronavirus may be a Chinese bio-weapon.

Denmark World Cup star tests positive for coronavirus

Former Denmark star Thomas Kahlenberg, who represented his country at the 2010 World Cup, has been placed in quarantine after testing positive for the coronavirus.

Kahlenberg, 36, recently returned from a trip to Amsterdam and attended a game at Brondby’s home stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Copenhagen club said that he had since tested positive for the virus and has been placed in isolation.

“Thomas is doing well considering the circumstances and is in good spirits,” the club said in a statement on its website.

Brondby said that 13 people have been placed in home quarantine following their game against Lyngby at the weekend.

They also urged any fans who had come into contact with Kahlenberg – who visited the fan zone during Sunday’s game – to get in touch the medical authorities.

Kahlenberg is the highest-profile coronavirus case from the world of football so far.

He made 47 appearances for his country between 2003 and 2014, scoring five times.

His club career included spells at Brondby, where he is now a youth team coach, as well as at Auxerre in France and Wolfsburg in Germany.

The coronavirus – known as Covid-19 – continues to spread around the world, with almost 100,000 cases now reported and in excess of 3,000 deaths.
