Gallup: Five Million Latin Americans Coming to U.S. in Next 12 Months

Migrants, most of whom are part of a recently arrived caravan, stand in line for breakfast at a migrant hostel as they wait to apply for asylum into the United States on February 08, 2019 in Piedras Negras, Mexico. The hostel is holding approximately 2,000 migrants from Honduras, Guatemala and …

Five million Latin Americans plan to migrate to the United States in the next 12 months, and an estimated 42 million more say they want to enter the country.

Those statistics were in a report from Jim Clifton, the chairman and CEO at Gallup:

Forty-two million seekers of citizenship or asylum are watching to determine exactly when and how is the best time to make the move. This suggests that open borders could potentially attract 42 million Latin Americans. A full 5 million who are planning to move in the next 12 months say they are moving to the U.S.

The poll came as Democrats began using their new political clout to try to widen the catch-and-release loopholes in President Donald Trump’s border defenses.

Breitbart News reported:

Democrats say the DHS does not need so many detention beds but instead can release and track migrants or resident illegals by using “Alternatives to Detention,” such as monitors strapped to migrants’ ankles.

Democrats also argue that migrants who bring children should not be detained. If that rule is adopted by Congress, all migrants who bring children to the border would be quickly released into the U.S. jobs market.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokeswoman Katie Waldman rejected the Democrats’ proposals, saying in a statement:

Without the necessary detention authority and sufficient funding for family beds to enable ICE to detain family units when they are ordered removed, ICE will still only be able to remove a very small percentage of family units, thereby increasing the pull factors and further contributing to the border crisis. For example last year, only one percent of all removals were on ATD, at a cost of $72,000 per removal.

“Most U.S. citizens like me just want to know the plan,” Clifton concluded. “What is the 10-year plan? How many, exactly whom and what skills will they bring? What do we want? Answer these questions, and the current discussion can be resolved.”

The Republicans on the DHS funding panel include Sens. Richard Shelby (AL), Shelley Moore Capito (WV), John Hoeven (ND), and Roy Blunt (MO), as well as Reps. Kay Granger (TX), Chuck Fleischmann (TN), Tom Graves (GA), and Steven Palazzo (MS).

The Democrats on the panel are Sens. Patrick Leahy (VT), Richard Durbin (IL), and Jon Tester (MT), along with Reps. Nita Lowey (NY), Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA), David Price (NC), Barbara Lee (CA), Henry Cuellar (TX), and Pete Aguilar (CA).

Stacey Abrams will be pushing for Reparations

The flyer touting an event with Stacey Abrams in Atlanta earlier this week read like a left-leaning activist’s fantasy: It’s 2022 and “we’re celebrating Medicare for All and Free College, and next on the agenda is Reparations.”

It invited progressives to hop in a time machine and imagine they are hearing from Abrams, a former Georgia House Democratic leader running for governor, after she “set the course for a new wave of leaders.”

“Because we’re governing with gusto, we’re seeing victories up and down the ballot—including winning a governorship in Texas and putting 38 electoral votes in grasp by 2024,” it read. Abrams said she and other candidates spoke at the Democracy Alliance’s Monday conference, a meeting of progressive activists and financiers that aimed to chart the party’s course. But she said the topic of reparations – payments to the descendants of slaves – did not come up.

Instead, her campaign said the event focused broadly on building power for progressives. It also said she didn’t organize or sponsor the event or have any role in making the flyer.

In a statement, Abrams touted her plans to address access to education, criminal justice initiatives and voting rights – “plans which serve all Georgians but also include specific solutions communities need to overcome structural barriers to opportunity.”

Abrams, who is running to be the nation’s first black female governor, faces former state Rep. Stacey Evans in the May 22 primary. The two have clashed on a range of issues, including gun control votes, tax cut plans and competing strategies to win in November.

Neither candidate has talked about reparations on the campaign trail. And neither commented about the debate when asked Wednesday by the AJC. The Democracy Alliance attracted dozens of wealthy donors and leaders of left-leaning organizations to plot out the party’s future.

California billionaire Tom Steyer, who has pumped $20 million into a movement to impeach Donald Trump, was in town during the meeting. And several candidates for state office were seen mingling in the crowd at the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta, where Planned Parenthood officials announced earlier Monday the group endorsed Abrams.

The Washington Free Beacon first reported about the event.

The “2022 Victory Party” event was organized by a coalition of organizations that include Planned Parenthood, Collective Action PAC and Propel Capital. Several of the groups declined to comment on the flyer.

Democrats Set to Offer Trump A Measly $1.3 Billion for Wall

By

Congressional Democrats are poised to offer a border wall deal to President Trump and Republicans that includes a mere small percentage of funds necessary to fully construct a ‘big, beautiful’ wall on the southern border.

Leading Democrats have said to arranged a dealwith Republican legislators that would provide somewhere between $1.3 and $2 billion for the construction of barriers on the southern border. It appears that these funds would be earmarked for structures more closely resembling bollard fences than the wall that was President Trump’s signature campaign promise.

Estimates gauging the full cost of a comprehensive border wall usually price between $20 and $25 billion, leaving immigration patriots with a mere 10% of the funding required for its construction under the agreement.

The deal is being pitched as a means to avoid another costly government shutdown. If signed into law, it would likely only provide around 200 miles of fencing on the southern border, which spans around 2,000 miles.

It’s likely not a coincidence that Democrats insist on barriers that fall short of a wall. While fencing is an effective anti-vehicular measure, it’s likely the structures funded in the deal wouldn’t be designed to deter personnel from crossing the border, leaving America’s frontier insecure for the increasingly large groups of migrants freely crossing and requesting asylum.

Upon arrival in the United States, migrants would try their luck in the U.S asylum court system. Should they succeed in obtaining permanent residency, leading Democrats and migration advocates would reliably make a political push to provide them with American citizenship and voting rights.

The alternative of declaring a national emergency to construct a wall still remains a possibility according to the White House, enabling President Trump to avoid Democratic obstruction.

DEMOCRAT BLAMES TRUMP FOR DEMOCRATS BLACKING UP IN THE PAST

Democrat Blames Trump For Democrats Blacking Up In The Past

Argues that blackface Democrats not resigning is “a result of not acting on President Trump’s bigotry”

Steve Watson | Infowars.com – FEBRUARY 8, 2019

A Democrat from Texas, has vowed to impeach the President, attempting to blame Trump over Democrats blacking up in the past.

Rep. Al Green attempted to argue that the refusal of both Virginia’s governor, Ralph Northam (D), and the state’s attorney general, Mark Herring (D), to resign after admissions of wearing blackface in the past is Trump’s fault.

Green stated that it “is but a symptom of a greater syndrome that currently plagues our country as a result of not acting on President Trump’s bigotry.”

So to reiterate Green’s logic, some Democrats blacked up in the 1980s, and it’s Trump’s fault they won’t resign now.

Green added that the Democrats are being protected “to a great extent because the Trump presidency has sent a message that you can be immune to the consequences of bigotry, by daring those with the authority and power to constitutionally remove you from office.”

Green kept digging, adding “We no longer stare bigotry down; bigotry now stares us down.”

“Further, an argument that Governor Ralph Northam and Attorney General Mark Herring should resign will subject us to accusations of political hypocrisy if we refuse to take on a bigoted president.” Green continued.

Green has previously introduced articles of impeachment against Trump based on the President “inciting racial divisions”.

“The remedy must be more than talking points about a much-needed conversation concerning bigotry,” Green said in arguing to impeach Trump, adding “We cannot allow bigotry to go unchecked.”

In a weird universe feedback loop, Green’s argument that Trump is to blame for white supremacists going unchecked is exactly what Ralph Northam said before the picture of him in blackface emerged.

Green’s attempt to blame Trump for the blackface scandal has been mirrored by sections of the media, notably NBC News:

“I think it has something to do with what Donald Trump has unleashed. It has something to do with the reservoir that’s underneath our politics that can always be activated at any moment,” argued Princeton University Professor Eddie Glaude Jr. during a NBC panel discussion earlier in the week.

“Donald Trump has normalized this overt display of racism.” MSNBC political analyst Zerlina Maxwell agreed.

The Nation of Islam, an African-American religious movement, will be holding their annual Saviours’ Day event at the United Center in Chicago later this month, the same location where the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks play.

“Saviours’ Day is an annual Nation of Islam commemoration of the birth of Master Fard Muhammad, the Great Madhi of the Muslims and the Messiah of the Christians, who appeared in North America on July 4, 1930, and declared that the 400 years of bondage Blacks served in America had ended,” the event description reads. “This year’s convention is February 15 – 17 in Chicago, Illinois. Minister Louis Farrakhan will deliver the Saviours’ Day 2019 Address on February 17th at The United Center.”

The Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan has an extensive history of making anti-Semitic comments. Last October, Farrakhan compared Jewish people to termites. He’s also referred to Adolf Hitler as “a very great man,”and blamed Jewish people for 9/11 and the Holocaust(RELATED: Twitter Rules Louis Farrakhan Comparing Jewish People To Termites Doesn’t Violate Guidelines)

Sarah N. Stern, the founder and president of the Endowment for Middle East Truth, told The Daily Caller:

I am incredibly saddened to see that within just one or two generations after the Holocaust, anti-Semitism has become so mainstream and so acceptable that people do not hesitate to open up their  forums and stadiums to the like of Louis Farrakhan, a known anti-Semite, who has uses his Sunday sermons to preach classic anti-Semitic vitriol about Jews controlling all the wealth and all of the power in the United States, and blaming the Jews for virtually everything evil in the world.

“Our people have had to learn through our long and painful history that words matter. No one is born determined to commit heinous acts of hatred or genocide against another group,” she continued. “What was, just a few years ago, beyond the pale of acceptable speech has become fashionable within certain circles, and in just a few short years, the lessons of the Holocaust have been totally forgotten or ignored. I cry for the 6 million who died without the world even having learned this simple lesson.” (RELATED: Democratic National Committee Ends Partnership With Women’s March Over Leadership’s Farrakhan Connections)

Netflix Buys Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Doc ‘Knock Down the House’ for $10 Million

By Warner Todd Huston

Streaming giant Netflix has shelled out a whopping $10 million for the rights to broadcast a documentary that follows the primary campaign of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and three other candidates.

The film, entitled Knock Down the House, produced and directed by Rachel Lears, was a huge hit at this year’s Sundance Film Festival winning the coveted audience favorite award. The film was a hot ticket for the festival and featured a Skyped address to the crowd made by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez herself at the film’s conclusion.

Netflix pounced quickly to pick up the film rights initially offering $6 million but upping the ante when others began taking notice of the film.

The film follows the 2018 primary challenges mounted by Amy Vilela (NV), Cori Bush (MO), and Paula Jean Swearengin (WV), as well as Ocasio-Cortez. The New Yorker was the only one of the four candidates that went on to win the primary and, hence, a seat in Congress.

Netflix was bound and determined to win the bid for the film, but the competition was hot, Deadline reported. Aside from Netflix, NEON, Focus, Hulu, and Amazon were all in the hunt for the rights to the film.

According to Deadline, the ten million price tag makes Knock Down the House the most expensive documentary sale ever brokered at Sundance.

‘Don’t want to get into that’: Democrats’ #MeToo double standard on Kavanaugh and Fairfax

CAP

Whether the Democrats went too hard in their pursuit of Brett Kavanaugh for alleged sexual assault, or have been too soft on fellow party member Justin Fairfax, it all amounts to the same thing – hypocrisy is an unbecoming look.

Unlike the since-confirmed Supreme Court justice, who was accused of a nearly forty-year-old crime with no verifiable dates, witnesses, circumstances or even a location, the allegations which the Virginia lieutenant governor faces are relatively recent, specific, and involve different accounts of an encounter that both parties admitted happened.

Yet, even though Fairfax accuser Vanessa Tyson hiring the same legal team as Christine Blasey Ford, among the top Democrats there hasn’t been a rush to “believe all women.”

Democrats on Kavanaugh

“I cannot sit here, I cannot participate in what I know history is going to look back on as a dark moment,” presidential candidate and New Jersey senator Cory Booker said as he explained his reasons for rejecting Kavanaugh. “You are either complicit in the evil, you are either contributing to the wrong, or you are fighting against it.”

“This is a real test for our nation to see how we treat women, especially women who are victims of sexual assault,” said senior California Senator Dianne Feinstein.

CAP

“I believe her,” said junior California Senator Kamala Harris.

“Over 150 sexual assault survivors have reached out to me to say they are dismayed by the Senate’s actions, they struggle to see empathy in the eyes of their leaders, and they now fear no one would take them seriously if they came forward with their own stories. I want them and all survivors to know this: You don’t need to suffer in silence. You deserve to be taken seriously. You deserve to be listened to,” said Virginia Senator Tim Kaine, disheartened after Kavanaugh narrowly won the confirmation vote.

“I believe Dr. Ford. Brett Kavanaugh does not belong on the Supreme Court,” said the independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

“We have to think about what it would mean if Judge Kavanaugh were to be confirmed to the Supreme Court with credible sexual assault allegations against him, Specifically what it would mean to the millions of women across America who were survivors of sexual assault, women who have been scared to come forward with their stories for fear they would be mocked, ridiculed, and shunned,” opined Senator Dick Durbin from Illinois.

Democrats on Fairfax

“I am not getting into that. I have so many things I am working on, this isn’t one of them,” saidDurbin, adding “I don’t know her” about Tyson.

“I don’t want to get into that,” said Feinstein, after saying that she “doesn’t know” who Justin Fairfax is, despite him being next in line for Virginia governorship.

“I think we should be focusing on what’s right now happening with the governor. I know you guys are going to try to focus on a lot of things right now, but right now my focus is on again calling for the governor to step down,” said Booker, changing the subject to Virginia governor Ralph Northam’s blackface scandal – though he did subsequently call for an investigation into Fairfax.

CAP

“It’s premature,” said Kaine, explaining why he isn’t calling for the resignation for Fairfax who is “someone we know real well” and “denies the charges unequivocally.”

“I haven’t had the chance to see her. I did have the chance to see Dr. Blasey Ford testify right in the room in front of me. So she had a chance to display great personal credibility. I have not seen this other witness or victim,” said Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, demanding a personal testimony before he is convinced.

“Busy with bills and focused on matters at hand right now,” said leader of Virginia House Democrats Eileen Filler-Corn. Shejust doesn’t have the time.
