House Judiciary Committee Passes Resolution on Impeachment Inquiry Rules

The House Judiciary Committee on Thursday approved a resolution which defines the scope of a potential impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump.

The party-line 24-17 vote occurred after two hours of debate between Democrats and Republicans about the so-called inquiry’s parameters.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) tried to clear up any misconceptions as the committee approved guidelines for impeachment hearings on President Trump. Some of Nadler’s fellow Democrats — including House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) — have stumbled over how to explain what they’re doing.

“Some call this process an impeachment inquiry. Some call it an impeachment investigation. There is no legal difference between these terms, and I no longer care to argue about the nomenclature,” Nadler said as he opened the meeting. “But let me clear up any remaining doubt: The conduct under investigation poses a threat to our democracy. We have an obligation to respond to this threat. And we are doing so.”

Republicans disagree with Nadler and they argue that the House has never voted to open an official inquiry. Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA), the top Republican on the committee, said the committee “has become a giant Instagram filter … it’s put in there to look like something, but it’s really not.”

Collins said Democrats are trying to have it both ways.

“My colleagues know very well they don’t have the votes to authorize impeachment proceedings on the House floor, but they want to impeach the president anyway,” Collins said. “So, they are pretending to initiate impeachment.”

Impeachment has divided Democrats who control the House. Democrats on Nadler’s committee, including some of the most liberal members of the House, have been eager to move forward with the process. But moderates, mostly first-term lawmakers who handed their party the majority in the 2018 election, are concerned about the committee’s drumbeat on impeachment and the attention that comes with that continued action.

With regard to impeachment, the biggest elephant in the room is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who has long opposed Congress taking the lead on ousting the president. Instead, Pelosi has insisted that committees continue their investigations into President Trump and his associates in search of possible wrongdoings. Earlier this week, the speaker dismissed concerns that Nadler’s recent maneuvers exhibit how she’s losing control over her caucus. “I think you should characterize it [the resolution] for what it is,” Pelosi told Fox News. “It’s a continuation of what we have been doing. You know, we all work together on these things”

Not only is Pelosi unwilling to move the ball forward on impeachment, but the speaker also believes the American people do not want to see lawmakers take up the matter at this time.

“The public isn’t there on impeachment. It’s your voice and constituency, but give me the leverage I need to make sure that we’re ready and it is as strong as it can be,” Pelosi said during a caucus-wide conference call last month.

“The equities we have to weigh are our responsibility to protect and defend the Constitution and to be unifying and not dividing. But if and when we act, people will know he gave us no choice,” she added.

Meanwhile, President Trump took to Twitter following the vote to seemingly underline the political motivations behind an impeachment inquiry and quoted Rep. Al Green (D-TX), who introduced articles of impeachment in June.

““We can’t beat him, so lets impeach him!” Democrat Rep. Al Green,” the president recounted the lawmaker proposing earlier this year.

Democrats Announce Plan to Hold William Barr in Contempt

William Barr

By Sean Moran

The Democrat-controlled House Judiciary Committee announced Monday a plan to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt for handing over special counsel Robert Mueller’s unredacted report and its underlying evidence.

The committee announced it will consider a contempt citation against Barr on Wednesday; a majority vote for the resolution by the committee would send the measure to the House for consideration later in May.

Nadler launched its own investigation into potential allegations that President Donald Trump obstructed charges based on “public corruption and other abuses of power” by Trump.

House Judiciary Committee ranking member Doug Collins (R-GA) slammed Democrats’ cynical move to subpoena the unredacted Mueller, contending that complying with the subpoena would break the law.

“Democrats have launched a proxy war smearing the attorney general when their anger actually lies with the president and the special counsel, who found neither conspiracy nor obstruction,” Collins said in a statement Monday.

The Democrats’ citation reads:

Congress is therefore the only body able to hold the president to account for improper conduct in our tripartite system, and urgently requires the subpoenaed material to determine whether and how to proceed with its constitutional duty to provide checks and balances on the president and executive branch. Otherwise, the president remains insulated from legal consequences and sits above the law.

Barr skipped a House Democrat hearing last week after the attorney general objected to allowing committee lawyers to question Barr. The Democrats also want to enter a closed hearing where they could discuss redacted information in Mueller’s report.

Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) called Barr “chicken” for not showing up the House hearing last week and even brought a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) to the hearing.

“Chicken Barr should have shown up today and answered questions,” Cohen said.

EX-FBI OFFICIAL: ‘AT LEAST 2 TRUMP CABINET MEMBERS’ HELPED ROSENSTEIN WITH 25TH AMENDMENT COUP

Ex-FBI Official: 'At Least 2 Trump Cabinet Members' Helped Rosenstein With 25th Amendment Coup

Former FBI General Counsel James Baker admits plot existed to remove President Trump from office

 | Infowars.com – APRIL 9, 2019

At least two members of President Trump’s Cabinet were open to go along with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s plot to remove him from office using the 25th Amendment, according to ex-FBI official James Baker.

Former FBI General Counsel James Baker testified to the House Judiciary Committee last October about his role during Special Counsel Mueller’s Russia witch hunt, in testimony releasedby the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday.

“To the best of my recollection [former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe] told me that the deputy attorney general said that he had at least two members of the Cabinet who were ready to invoke the 25th Amendment,” Baker said.

“I am sure he told me other things in that conversation, but it was in part both of those things were relayed to me with other information with respect to — what the DAG [Rosentein] was going through at the time and how he was thinking about his involvement in the firing of Director Comey and how he was thinking about proceeding after that.”

Rosenstein initially called last year’s reports that he volunteered to secretly wear a wire around Trump to catch him in a moment he could use to invoke the 25th Amendment as “inaccurate and factually incorrect.”

The mainstream media even claimed he was just “joking.”

Baker’s testimony reveals that not only did Rosenstein plot a coup, but that members of his own Cabinet went along with it!

Infowars first reported the 25th Amendment coup against Trump shortly after he was elected in 2017, over a year and a half before it was confirmed by The New York Times.

Rosenstein was set to resign in March, but for unknown reasons has decided to remain at his post as Deputy Attorney General.

The questions remain: who were the two Cabinet officials, and are they still in power?

Breaking: Rep. Doug Collins Releases Nellie Ohr Testimony Transcript Before House Judiciary Committee — Contributing ‘Author’ of Phony Dossier

CAP

In December 2017 the head of opposition research firm Fusion GPS admitted in a court filing that his firm paid Nellie Ohr, the wife of senior Justice Department official Bruce Ohr, to help dig up damaging information on then-candidate Donald Trump.

The connections between Nellie Ohr and the ‘Spygate’ scandal were hidden at a distance for months.

As noted previously at TGP, Nellie Ohr is a Communist sympathizer connected to Russia as well as a corrupt Never-Trumper.

Author Diana West at the American Spectator posted an article on Nellie Ohr last year.  Nellie Ohr is “the “dossier” spying scandal’s woman in the middle.”

To one side of Ohr, there is the Fusion GPS team, including fellow contractor Christopher Steele. To the other, there is husband Bruce Ohr, who, until his “dossier”-related demotion, was No. 4 man at the Department of Justice, and a key contact there for Steele.

What’s more revealing about Nellie Ohr is the men in her life are protecting her involvement in the Russia scandal:

Notably, the “dossier” men in her life have tried to shield Ohr from public scrutiny, even at professional risk. Her husband, as the Daily Caller News Foundation reports, failed to disclose his wife’s employment with Fusion GPS and seek the appropriate conflict-of-interest waiver, which may have been an important factor in his demotion from associate deputy attorney general late last year.

Under Senate and House questioning, Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson consistently failed to disclose Nellie Ohr’s existence as one of his firm’s paid Russian experts, let alone that he hired her for the red-hot DNC/Clinton campaign Trump-Russia project.

Even Christopher Steele may have tried to keep Nellie Ohr “under cover.” Steele, put forth as the “dossier” author ever since its January 2017 publication in BuzzFeed, does not appear to have let on to his many media and political contacts that he had “dossier”-assistance from at least two fellow Fusion GPS Russian experts, Nellie Ohr and Edward Baumgartner. Baumgartner, interestingly, was a Russian history major at Vassar in the 1990s when Nellie Ohr taught Russian history there.

It appears that the men in Nellie’s life did all they could to prevent Nellie Ohr from being outed for being involved in the dossier because she also has links to the CIA and therefore to John Brennan.

Now this…

New evidence suggests Nellie Ohr was working for the CIA and Fusion GPS when she passed on the junk Trump-Russia dossier and information on the Trump Children to the DOJ-FBI.

Via The Last Refuge – Conservative Treehouse:

The latest FOIA requests indicate Nellie Ohr was working for the DOJ in 2015-2016.

This means Nellie Ohr was working for Fusion GPS AND the DOJ at the same time.

GOP Congressman Releasing Transcripts From Closed-Door Testimonies Of Russia Probe Investigators

By ASHE SCHOW

U.S. Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) speaks during a House Rules Committee meeting at the U.S. Capitol February 25, 2019 in Washington, DC.

For the past two weeks, one GOP congressman has been on a mission to release transcripts of government officials who testified to Congress behind closed doors regarding the investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA), ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee, began releasing transcripts into the congressional record on March 8, starting with the closed-door testimony of Department of Justice official Bruce Ohr. Collins took to the House floor to explain his decision to release the transcripts, asking, is “the only ‘collusion’ among agency personnel who hated the president and started this investigation?”

Collins said that the transcripts were “pertinent to a congressional investigation,” but the investigation was ended after Republicans lost control of the House of Representatives. Collins said further that the committee had given the DOJ time to review and redact information related to national security, but received little response from the department, so they made minor redactions and released the transcripts.

The 268-page transcript from Ohr’s testimony revealed that Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson and ex-British Spy Christopher Steele used Ohr to get their salacious claims about Russia collusion into the federal government. Ohr also revealed that, contrary to what House Intel Chairman Adam Schiff has said, the FBI had received reports from Steele as early as July 2016, not September 2016, as Schiff claimed.

Further, Ohr testified that Steele continued to feed him information after the ex-spy was no longer a credible source for the FBI. The FBI would interview Ohr as a backdoor to Steele’s intel.

Four days after releasing Ohr’s testimony, Collins returned to the House floor to publicly release former FBI lawyer Lisa Page’s testimony.

“The American people deserve to know what transpired in the highest echelons of the FBI during that tumultuous time for the bureau,” Collins said at the time.

The Page testimony was explosive, as she had not been publicly interviewed by the committee or anyone else after her text messages with then-fellow FBI agent Peter Strzok, with whom she was having an affair, were revealed.

In her testimony, Page revealed that the FBI’s Russia investigation really was an “insurance policy” in the unlikely event that Donald Trump was elected president, and that investigators had only a “paucity” of evidence in the beginning, which they still used to launch investigations into the president. Page also suggested that it was President Barack Obama’s Justice Department that essentially told the FBI not to find Hillary Clinton responsible for “gross negligence” in regard to classified information being sent over her unsecured, private email server.

Two days after releasing Page’s testimony, Collins released Strzok’s. In his testimony, Strzok revealed that he deleted communications between himself and his mistress, Page, prior to being removed from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, but did so for “personal” reasons. He claimed to have deleted personal communications regarding his affair, but some of those messages showed anti-Trump sentiments and discussed the “insurance policy” of investigating “collusion” if Trump won the election.

On Sunday, Collins told Fox News host Maria Baritomo that he was planning to release more transcripts. Baritomo asked if Jim Baker, the former FBI lawyer who is now under criminal investigation for leaking to the media, was on the list for future transcript releases.

“There will be more transcripts released. Baker will be one that we’re looking at releasing,” Collins responded.

Deep State plot to remove President Trump coming more into focus

 | Infowars.com – MARCH 12, 2019

Transcripts of disgraced former FBI lawyer Lisa Page’s closed-door testimony to congressional investigators last year over DOJ and FBI wrongdoing have been released.

Ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee Doug Collins (R-Ga.) released the almost 400 pages of transcripts on Tuesday.

“The American people deserve to know what transpired in the highest echelons of the FBI during that tumultuous time for the bureau,” Collins said in a statement on the House floor.

This comes just days after Collins also released the transcripts of Justice Department official Bruce Ohr.

“People anticipate the Mueller report soon. Will he find any so-called collusion? Or was the only collusion among agency personnel who hated the president and started this investigation?” Collins said Friday.

Page, who served as special counsel to FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, came under fire last year after disparaging Trump text messages between her and FBI agent Peter Strzok surfaced.
