In Wake Of Assaults On Trump Supporters At MN Rally, Media Fret Whether Somalis Feel 'Welcome'

Whether Trump supporters were made to feel “welcome” wasn’t a question the Star Tribune felt was worth asking

Chris Menahan | Information Liberation – OCTOBER 15, 2019

A host of Trump supporters were violently assaulted by antifa mobs on Thursday night but Minnesota’s largest newspaper’s main concern is whether President Trump’s visit made Somali refugees feel “welcome.”

“Trump supporters are literally fleeing the event after it ended as protestors are waiting around attacking attendees as they leave the arena,” Blaze TV’s Elijah Schaffer commented after capturing one of the mob’s assaults on film. “It is not safe in Minneapolis any longer for Trump supporters.”

Additional video showed Trump supporters being sucker-punched and spit on in the streets.

The Star Tribune chose to either brush over or ignore these assaults.

Whether Trump supporters were made to feel “welcome” wasn’t a question the Star Tribune felt was worth asking, but whether Trump made Somali refugees feel “welcome” is a question they’ve asked twice now in three days.

From the Star Tribune, Oct 12, “Somali-Minnesotans wonder about their welcome after Trump’s speech”:

By Faiza Mahamud and Jessie Van Berkel

Abubakar Abdi skipped his usual after-work stop to visit friends at the local Somali mall on Thursday, heading to his Minneapolis home instead to catch President Donald Trump’s speech.

As he watched, the 22-year-old IT specialist said he was taken aback by the loud boos at the packed campaign rally when Trump mentioned Somalis.

“As you know, for many years, leaders in Washington brought large numbers of refugees to your state from Somalia without considering the impact on schools and communities and taxpayers,” Trump said at the rally. “I promise you that as president, I would give local communities a greater say in refugee policy and put in place enhanced vetting and responsible immigration control, and I’ve done that since coming into office.”

Abdi, born and raised in Minnesota, said the president’s words and the crowd’s reaction left him wondering: “What if my former classmates were among the ones booing? What if it was my former teachers booing?”

“I didn’t know we were hated like that,” he said. “Donald Trump is one man, but what scares me is the amount of support he has.”

Minnesota is home to the nation’s largest Somali population, numbering 57,000 in the latest census, though the current number is believed to be higher. Trump’s remarks about refugee resettlement and about U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, whom he called “a disgrace to our country” during his speech, stung and angered many Somali-Minnesotans, with some using words such as “dangerous,” “disgusting,” and “racist.”

The negative portrayal of people of Somali descent is making it harder for some to go about their lives without fear […]

[…] Trump’s visit also spurred anxiety and fear for many Somalis here.

The nation’s largest Muslim civil rights group and local Somali-elected leaders were sounding the alarm about the long-term implications of Trump’s visit, suggesting it could spark a fresh surge in hate crimes in Minnesota — home to the nation’s largest Somali community.

“We’re also definitely concerned about his anti-Muslim and anti-Somali language,” said Jaylani Hussein, who leads the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which had urged Muslim-Americans to join protests Thursday.

[…] State Rep. Mohamud Noor, DFL-Minneapolis, said it’s one thing dealing with Trump’s anti-Somali slurs and his hateful posts on social media about immigrants and refugees. But his visit to Minneapolis struck fear close to home, Noor said.

[…] State Rep. Hodan Hassan, DFL-Minneapolis, said she opposed Trump’s visit, asserting that it could have negative blowback on the community.

Hassan and Noor, both Somalis, said they had been going around the community to ease people’s fears. The two now plan to hold community conversations.

“Trump, his hate and his bigotry is not welcome in Minnesota,” Hassan said. “The Somali community here is strong. We know who we are, we know we are a valuable community here and we just want to make sure everyone is safe and protected.”

To address the fear and anxiety in the community, Minnesota Somali leaders said they are working with the FBI, have hired armed security guards to patrol Somali-owned businesses and are urging people to stay vigilant, particularly Muslim women who wear a hijab.

You gotta love how they explicitly say Trump is not welcome.

The Star Tribune publishes nearly this same exact article over and over and over again (and always in the wake of Somali terrorist attacks). Meanwhile, mob assaults carried out by Somalis and antifa rioters assaulting Trump supporters in the streets barely merit a mention.

‘ISLAM IS RIGHT ABOUT WOMEN’ SIGNS APPEAR IN AUSTIN, TEXAS

'Islam is Right About Women' Signs Appear in Austin, Texas

Progressives still confused about who to be offended on behalf of.

  – OCTOBER 14, 2019

Having appeared in numerous cities all over the world last month, signs that read “Islam is right about women” have now been seen in Austin, Texas.

An image of the sign was posted on The Donald subreddit with the caption, “Which of you beautiful bastards plastered these all over SW Austin last night? My next door app is blowing up with confusion. Absolutely hilarious.”

The posters previously appeared in Winchester, Massachusetts, causing a mini moral panic and the police to be called in to investigate.

They also popped up in Limerick, Ireland, prompting a local councillor to assert that the signs were intended to “incite hate” towards “either women or Muslims” (she wasn’t sure who).

null

The meme is a 4chan troll designed to confuse muddled leftists who attempt to support Islam and women’s rights at the same time without realizing how the two contradict each other.

What makes the meme funny is that leftists routinely react with outrage, but don’t know quite who to be outraged on behalf of.

If they find the message offensive, they can be accused of being bigoted towards Muslims.

However, if they don’t sufficiently explain why they are offended, they can be accused of being hateful towards women, given how some women are treated as second class citizens in Islamic societies.

“The result is that those who attempt to explain why the act is offensive end up simply tying themselves in knots, while revealing that they have never given a moment’s thought to the position they find themselves defending,” writes Alla Al-Ameri.

“This seems to generate even more anger, with the inevitable online mob quickly joined by politicians, journalists and other public figures, eager to see that the heretic is made an example of.”

Some airplanes did something?! New York Times article ‘de-terrorizes’ 9/11 attacks

CAP

On the anniversary of the most devastating terrorist attack on US soil, a story by the New York Times suggested that “airplanes” brought down the twin towers. The seeming shift of responsibility did not sit well with readers.

“18 years have passed since airplanes took aim and brought down the World Trade Center,” read a tweet from the New York Times on Wednesday. “Today families will once again gather and grieve at the site where more than 2000 people died.” Inside an accompanying article, the same bizarre sentence was repeated.

Though technological dystopia was all the rage in 2001, what with the success of ‘The Matrix’ two years earlier and the passing of Y2K after that, the 9/11 attacks were not carried out by sentient airplanes, but by terrorist hijackers. Enraged readers made sure the NYT knew that, slating the newspaper for omitting the terms ‘Islamic terrorists’ or even the less-loaded ‘Al Qaeda’ from its story.

The Times later deleted the tweet and amended its story, which, this time around, read: “Eighteen years have passed since terrorists commandeered airplanes to take aim at the World Trade Center and bring them down.” Responsibility was placed squarely with Al Qaeda in the updated article.

But why the strange phrasing in the first place? The Times did not report the recent mass shootings in Texas as the work of a disembodied AR-15. Nor does the paper attribute President Donald Trump’s executive orders to levitating pens, or climate change to fossil fuels deciding to burn themselves.

CAP

To some observers, the watered-down description of the attacks was an effort to… not offend anybody, including ordinary Muslims who risk guilt-by-association for sharing their religious beliefs with the perpetrators. “Some airplanes did something,” jibed one commenter, comparing the Times’ coverage to a much-maligned soundbite from Democratic Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar earlier this year, in which Omar summarized the attacks as “some people did something.”

To be fair, radical Islamic terrorists aren’t alone in having their deeds sanitized by the New York Times in recent days. The paper marked the 43rd anniversary of Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong’s passing on Monday with a tweet describing how Chairman Mao “began as an obscure peasant” and “died one of history’s great revolutionary figures.”

After a similar backlash, the tweet was deleted, with the paper apologizing for not providing “critical historical context;” namely the famines that occurred on Mao’s watch and his role in the 1966-1976 ‘Cultural Revolution,’ events that left tens of millions of Chinese citizens dead.

OCASIO-CORTEZ: REPUBLICAN PARTY IS ‘SCARED’ OF US ‘BECAUSE THEY KNOW HOW POWERFUL’ WE ARE

Ocasio-Cortez: Republican Party Is ‘Scared’ of Us ‘Because They Know How Powerful’ We Are

“They know how powerful we are more than sometimes our own – frankly I think – our own party does.”

Breitbart – SEPTEMBER 12, 2019

The far-left members of the “Squad” – Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) – participated in an NAACP forum Wednesday evening and declared that members of the Republican Party are “scared” of them “because they know how powerful” they are.

Ocasio-Cortez talked about her background as a waitress and told the moderator, Angela Rye, that she does not “shy away” from her background of working in restaurants because it prepared her for her current job as a congresswoman.

“Nothing will give you the ferocity of advocacy like having that kind of experience,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

“No one can tell me about things like sexual harassment. No one can tell me things like working for tips on a wage that is less than the minimum wage. No one can tell me about taking the subway at 3 o’clock in the morning home from a night shift,” she said, claiming that “no one else has those experiences on the other side of the aisle.”

“Very few people have those experiences, and by the way, when they do, like John Boehner, they’re lauded for it. They’re like, ‘That’s a guy I could have a beer with,’ but with me, it’s like, so–” she continued with a gesture.

The freshman lawmaker added that the Republican Party is “scared” of the “Squad.”

“It’s because they’re scared because sometimes I think that the Republican Party recognizes our power more than we do sometimes,” she said.

NEW YORK TIMES BLAMES “AIRPLANES” FOR 9/11 ATTACK

New York Times Blames "Airplanes" For 9/11 Attack

Quickly deletes tweet after furious backlash.

 – SEPTEMBER 11, 2019

The New York Times chose to honor the 18th anniversary of the September 11 atrocity by blaming “airplanes” for carrying out the attack.

Yes, really.

“18 years have passed since airplanes took aim and brought down the World Trade Center,” the Times tweeted from its official account.

null

The tweet prompted an immediate backlash, with respondents furious the Times appeared to be absolving the terrorists of blame and pinning the responsibility on inanimate objects instead.

The newspaper later deleted the tweet and half way apologized, tweeting, “We’ve deleted an earlier tweet to this story and have edited for clarity. The story has also been updated.”

CAP

“Imagine what it takes, as a newsroom with a huge editorial process, to get 9/11 so offensively incorrect. Scumbags,” tweeted Raheem Kassam.

CAP

The Times found itself in hot water only a few days ago for praising Mao Zedong, the Communist dictator who starved 45 million of his own people to death, as a “great revolutionary leader.”

They later had to delete and clarify that tweet. This one, appearing as it does on the anniversary of 9/11, is if anything worse.

HEAD OF UN GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS SAYS ILLEGALLY ENTERING THE U.S. IS A RIGHT

Head of UN Global Communications Says Illegally Entering the U.S. is a Right

Follows Ilhan Omar’s call for UN to take control of US-Mexico border.

  – SEPTEMBER 6, 2019

The head of United Nations Global Communications says that it is a “right” for migrants to illegally enter the United States.

Writing on Facebook, Melissa Flemming asserted that, “the right to seek asylum is enshrined in Article 14 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights & was made binding by the 1951 Refugee Convention.”

“It is never a crime to seek asylum in another country even if one enters a country irregularly,” she added.

As head of communications, Flemming, who is American, is also the spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the same organization that Rep. Ilhan Omar advocated take control of the US-Mexico border last week.

“We should do what any other country does by dealing with this situation in a serious way,” Omar said during an immigration forum in south Minneapolis.

“So, we have to bring in the United Nations high commissioner on refugees, an agency that has the expertise and the training to handle massive flows of refugees humanely.”

Boston Police Plead with ‘Squad’ Member Ayanna Pressley to Stop Fundraising for ANTIFA Terrorists

Pressley is fundraising for ANTIFA terrorists who attacked cops this weekend.

By Shane Trejo

Earlier today, Big League Politics reported that “Squad” member Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) is helping to raise funds on behalf of ANTIFA terrorists who attacked law enforcement at the “Straight Pride Parade” in Boston, MA this past weekend.

She posted a link on her Twitter account to a crowd-sourcing page for ANTIFA to raise bail money for the terrorists who attempted to stop the lawful event from taking place with force:

Law enforcement personnel in Boston are outraged at Pressley for supporting the domestic terrorist group, and are calling her out for her despicable actions.

Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association president Michael Leary wrote her a scathing letter on Tuesday, demanding that she stop fundraising for ANTIFA terrorists who viciously attacked law enforcement:

Dear Representative Pressley:

I am writing on behalf of the Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association to strongly protest your decision to urge your constituents to contribute to a bail fund for protesters arrested this weekend during the Straight Pride rally in downtown Boston. The Police are assigned to work at these kind of events in order to keep the peace and control any crowds or disorder. Whether someone was there as part of the rally or as a counter protest, the Boston Police officers are there to treat all the same and to maintain order. My members have informed me that the individuals who were arrested on Saturday were not peaceful protesters but were committing crimes of assault against Boston Police Officers. In fact at least four officers were injured by actions of some of the protesters. These officers were screamed at, abused and fought by these so-called peaceful protesters. Your actions in support of these individuals serves only to encourage criminal and disruptive behaviors such as those suffered by my members this weekend. This attitude also further contributes to the growing we/they attitude against police officers in this Country. As an elected official and particularly as someone who has historically worked with the Boston Police Department and the BPPA as a member of the Boston City Council you should be working to encourage Boston city residents and visitors to respect and cooperate with Boston Police officers who are there to serve and protect. The BPPA supports the right of free speech, but free speech does not include the right to abuse and assault the men and women who are appointed to keep the peace.

I urge you to reconsider your support of the protest bail fund. Instead, I hope you will make it clear to your supporters that you don’t approve of violent behavior against public safety personnel.

Sincerely,
Michael Leary
President
Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association

As of Tuesday night, Pressley still has the tweet up in defiance of Leary’s wishes. State Sen. Dean Tran of Fitchburg is proposing a ban on masked activism to prevent violent displays from ANTIFA terrorists and other gangs of thugs in the future.

Screen Shot 2019-09-04 at 10.44.45 AM

“I’m a big supporter of the freedom to assemble, but the freedom to assemble does not guarantee you the right to disguise yourself and inflict harm on others,” Tran said to the State House News Service on Tuesday.

“I’ve seen actions that have been taken by ANTIFA and I compare those actions to the same actions as groups like the KKK,” Tran added. “We’re in a different era; back then the KKK did not agree with other races and they used violence to convey their messages. Now we’re seeing groups similar to that, and that is the ANTIFA, now they use the same tactics but against people who don’t share the same beliefs and views.”

More animus is building against ANTIFA on a national level, as people are becoming alarmed about the violent threat that these terrorists pose. Once President Donald Trump designates them as a terrorist group at the federal level, principal organizers can be arrested and funding sources can be punished.

Divorce Filing: Wife Says Democrat Consultant Had Affair with Ilhan Omar

(Inset: Democrat strategist Tim Mynett and his now-estranged wife Dr. Beth Jordan Mynett) WASHINGTON, DC - JULY 25: Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) speaks at a press conference outside the U.S. Capitol July 25, 2019 in Washington, DC. Omar introduced the ZERO WASTE Act, which would create a federal grant program …

By Joshua Caplan

The wife of a Democrat consultant alleges her husband engaged in an extramarital affair with freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) in recent months, according to a report.

The New York Post, citing divorce filings obtained by the newspaper, reports Dr. Beth Jordan Mynett said her husband Tim Mynett admitted to having an affair with Omar in April. Dr. Mynett also alleges her spouse dropped a “shocking declaration of love” for the far-left lawmaker and dumped her soon after, state filings submitted to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on Tuesday.

“The parties physically separated on or about April 7, 2019, when Defendant told Plaintiff that he was romantically involved with and in love with another woman, Ilhan Omar,” the documents read.

Despite her husband’s alleged actions, Dr. Mynett says she told him she was “willing to fight for the marriage,” but she claims the political consultant told her their relationship was done. The couple married in 2012 and have a 13-year-old son together.

Omar has dished out roughly $230,000 in campaign funds in consulting fees and travel expenses to Mynett’s E Street Group since 2018.

The development comes after a Daily Mail report stating Omar is no longer living with her husband, Ahmed Hirsi, who she fired as a policy advisor. Before Hirsi, the Minnesota Democrat was married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. Omar has faced scrutiny stemming from a joint tax return she filed with Hirsi in 2014 and 2015 — before they were actually married and while Omar was legally wed to another man.

Omar has claimed that she married Hirsi, who then went by Ahmed Aden, in an Islamic ceremony in 2002, though never married legally. The pair split up 2008 and she married Elmi, legally, the next year. Even though the lawmaker split from Elmi in 2011, she remained married to him while she filed tax returns with Hirsi. Records show she divorced Elmi before marrying Hirsi. Elmi has faced allegations that he is Omar’s brother, a claim that Omar has denied.
