âThis is a very sad time for our country. There is no joy in this,â said Nancy Pelosi Saturday.
âWe must be somber. We must be prayerful. ⌠Iâm heartbroken about it.â
Thus did the speaker profess her anguish â just four days after announcing that her Democratic House would conduct an impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump.
But is this how it really went down? Is this how Pelosi came to authorize an impeachment inquiry before she read the transcript of the conversation between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky?
Another explanation, based on the actual events, suggests itself.
By late September, Pelosi was under constant fire from the House âresistanceâ that wanted Trump impeached and whose numbers were slowly growing. What was the speaker to do?
The judiciary committee is the body historically authorized by a vote of the full House to conduct impeachment inquiries. But to Pelosi this was looking like a loser, a dead end, a formula for failure followed by a backlash against House Democrats and her own removal as speaker in January 2021, if not before.
How so? Her judiciary committee chairman, Jerrold Nadler, in his investigation of Trump, had presided over a debacle of a hearing where Trump ally Corey Lewandowski mocked the members. House Budget Committee Chair John Yarmuth called the hearing a âfiasco.â
Thus, when news broke of a July 25 conversation between Trump and the president of Ukraine, during which Trump allegedly urged Zelensky âeight timesâ to investigate Joe Biden and son Hunter Bidenâs connections to corrupt oligarchs, Pelosi seized upon it to solve all her problems.
To satisfy the red-hots in her Democratic caucus, she announced an impeachment inquiry on her own. To spare her moderates the pain of having to vote for or against an inquiry, she skipped the floor vote.
To ensure the investigation was done swiftly, she took the franchise from Nadler and his judiciary committee and handed it to Adam Schiff and the intelligence committee. Now she is urging a narrowing of the articles of impeachment to just one â Trumpâs request of Ukraineâs president to look into the Bidens.
Pelosiâs hope: Have one House vote on a single article of impeachment by year end; then send it on to the Senate for trial and be done with it.
This is Nancy Pelosiâs fast track to impeachment of Trump and ruination of his presidency. But, to be sure, she is âheartbrokenâ about all this.
For three years, the media-deep state axis has sought to overturn the election of 2016 and bring down Trump, starting with Russia-gate. Now it appears to have tailored and weaponized the impeachment process.
That is what this is all about. It always is. Then-editor Ben Bradlee of The Washington Post, when it looked like the Iran-Contra matter might break Ronald Reaganâs presidency, after his 49-state landslide, chortled, âWe havenât had this much fun since Watergate.â
This is what the deep state does to outsiders Middle America sends to Washington to challenge or dispossess it.
How should the Republican Party and Trumpâs base respond?
Recognize reality. Whether or not Trump was ill-advised to suggest to the president of Ukraine that passing on the fruits of the investigation of Joe and Hunter Biden, the end game is bringing down Trump, democracyâs equivalent of regicide.
While the âwhistleblower,â whose memo is the basis of these impeachment hearings, is well on his way to Beltway beatification, no campaign to depose the president can be allowed to cloak itself in anonymity indefinitely, for one manâs whistleblower is another manâs seditionist.
Whom did the whistleblower collaborate with to produce his memo? What is his background? What are his biases? The people have a right to know. And democracy dies in darkness, does it not?
Not until 30 years after Watergate did we learn the âwhistleblowerâ known as âDeep Throatâ was a corrupt FBI veteran agent who leaked grand jury secrets to The Washington Post to discredit acting Director Pat Gray and thereby become FBI director himself.
His identity was sheltered for three decades. For whose benefit?
Republicans should not allow Democrats to fast-track this process but should give their troops time to recognize the stakes involved, organize a defense and repel this latest establishment attempt to overthrow a president elected to come to the capital to corral that establishment.
Force all the Democratic candidates for president to take a stand on removing Trump for high crimes â over a nebulous phone call to Kiev.
And the U.S. Senate should refuse to take up and should return to the House any bill of impeachment done in a short-circuited and savagely partisan manner, as this one is being done. There should be no rush to judgment.
If the election of 2020 is going to be about President Trump, tell the nation that the people will decide his political fate in November 2020, and that of Joe Biden if Democrats believe he is as pure as the driven snow and choose to nominate him.

Maxine Waters is the Chairwoman of the Financial Services Committee and she is currently leading an investigation into Trumpâs finances â now sheâs calling for Trumpâs First Amendment rights to be taken away and for him to be locked up like violent criminal without even naming a crime.
Maxine Waters is dangerous and should be removed as Chairwoman of the Financial Services Committee.
MAXINE WATERS: Iâm calling on the GOP to stop Trumpâs filthy talk of whistleblowers being spies & using mob language implying they should be killed. Impeachment is not good enough for Trump. He needs to be imprisoned & placed in solitary confinement. But for now, impeachment is the imperative.
Maxine Waters has previously called for President Trump to be impeached and imprisoned, however this is the first time she has called for him to be put in solitary confinement.

Senator Kamala Harris has demanded that Twitter ban President Trump because his words âcould result in harm to other people.â
Appearing on CNN Monday night, Harris asserted that Trumpâs suggestion that Rep. Adam Schiff should be arrested for treason crossed the line.
âFrankly, when you look at what heâs been tweeting today, directed at the whistleblower, directed at so many people, I frankly, think that based on this and all weâve seen him do before, including attacking members of Congress that frankly his Twitter account should be suspended,â said Harris.
âI think thereâs plenty of now evidence to suggest that he is irresponsible with his words in a way that could result in harm to other people. And so the privilege of using those words in that way should probably be taken from him,â she added.
Harris re-iterated that Trump âcould subject someone to harmâ as a result of his words and that Twitter should take action.
âIf heâs not going to exercise self-restraint, then, perhaps, there should be other mechanisms in place to make sure that his words do not in fact harm anyone,â she said.
Twitter has repeatedly made it clear that it wonât ban Trump whether the president violates their rules or not.
âBlocking a world leader from Twitter or removing their controversial Tweets would hide important information people should be able to see and debate,â the company said last year.

UK school under fire for hosting âResisting Whitenessâ event with rules discriminating against white people
The University of Edinburgh has allowed a âResisting Whiteness 2019â event to proceed at its venue, even though there was outrage over organizers’ rules, which limited white people’s access to a microphone and to certain rooms.
The conference, aimed at raising awareness about âthe importance of anti-racist action in the UKâ took place at Pleasance Theater, owned by the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, on Saturday.
It was organized by a group tellingly named âThe Resisting Whiteness Collective,â which describes itself as a ânot-for-profit grassroots organization of QTPOC [Queer and Trans People of Color] activists.â While touting the event, the group said that it wants to make it âas accessible as possible and therefore have free tickets available for those who would like to attend.â
However, it seems not everybody was welcome. The rules published on the conferenceâs official website state that if an attendee is white, they will have no right to ask questions, at least publicly. The rule, introduced to âamplify the voices of people of colorâ said that âpriority will be given to questions from people of color in the audience.â
âIf you are a white person in the audience and you still have a question after the panel has ended, please feel free to share your questions with a member of the committee or our speakers thenâÂ
While some argued that the attempt to muffle voices of a particular group, in this case white people, is tantamount to the racism that the “collective” so fervently opposes, another controversial rule sparked comparisons with segregation practices.
The “safe spaces” rule states that one of the two rooms âavailable to anyone who needs to remove themselves from the conferenceâ due to anxiety issues or just to take a break is off-limits to white people.
âThe Braid room is a safe space for only people of color, and the Cheviot room is available for anyone who needs it,â the rule states.
The controversial event was thrust into the national media spotlight earlier this week after outspoken media personality Katie Hopkins denounced the universityâs decision to host the gathering on Twitter.
Her tweet has opened the floodgates to similar accusations against the university, with many arguing that by throwing its weight behind the event, the school is endorsing racism.
âYou’re hosting ‘Resisting Whiteness,’ is that not similar to ‘resisting blackness?'” one commenter asked.
Another Twitter user suggested that the group has âa hidden agenda… [to] stoke race wars.â
Responding to the backlash, the university said that the organizers had agreed to revise the âsafe spacesâ policy to âensure [the] event is compliant with our values.â
They did appear to have watered-down the wording of the mic-access rule that had originally stated: “We will not be giving the microphone to white people during the Q&As.â However, if there were changes to the “safe spaces” rule, they are not reflected on the event’s official webpage.
While many chided the organizers, others sided with the “collective,” arguing that âreverse racismâ does not exist.
A bookshop that helped to arrange the event took a swipe at the critics, saying that they had âwillfully misunderstoodâ the groupâs intentions.
âResisting whiteness is not about white individuals, it is about whiteness as a pervasive system of oppression â both social & political â a system that needs resisting & dismantling,â it wrote.

With impeachment efforts against President Donald Trump resting on the content of a single phone call, who could blame Congressman Adam Schiff for embellishing the truth a little, all to sell his âOrange Man Badâ narrative.
Though Trump released a transcript of the call in question on Wednesday, the Democrat-controlled House Intelligence Committee pressed ahead with questioning Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire on Thursday, about his handling of the whistleblower complaint that first thrust the phone call into the spotlight.
His thunder stolen by the release of the transcript â which failed to reveal the quid-pro-quo arrangement between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Democrats had alleged â Schiff added some dramatic flourishes to his summary of the call as Maguireâs hearing opened, describing âthe essence of what the president communicates.â
âWeâve been very good to your country. Very good. No other country has done as much as we have. But you know what? I donât see much reciprocity here. I hear what you want. I have a favor I want from you, though. And Iâm gonna say this only seven times, so you better listen good.â
âI want you to make up dirt on my political opponent, understand, lots of it. On this and on that. Iâm going to put you in touch with peopleâŚand by the way donât call me again. Iâll call you when youâve done what I asked.â
Sounds dramatic, but the only problem? Trump didnât say any of this. Not a word. Schiff was mocked by Republican lawmakers and pundits for being so âdesperateâ that he resorted to rewriting the call into âunhinged âOrange Man Badâ fan fiction.â
Chastised by Republicans on the committee, Schiff admitted that his mad-libbed re-telling of the call was âparody,â a stand-up routine of sorts from the California congressman. âItâs a shame that we started off this hearing with fictional remarks,â Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio) said. âUnfortunately today, many innocent Americans are going to turn on their TV and the media is only going to show that section of what the chairman had to say.â
From his wooden delivery to his poor imitation of Trump, Schiff will unlikely be leaving Washington DC for Hollywood any time soon. However, the California Democrat is well versed in grandiose storytelling. Schiff branded the idea of probing Joe Bidenâs son Hunter over his role at a Ukrainian gas holding as âmaking up dirtâ â this from the same Schiff who kept audiences on edge for the last two years by promising to reveal âdirect evidenceâ of âRussian collusionâ hiding âin plain sight.â
Schiffâs promises never amounted to anything beyond the contents of Special Counsel Robert Muellerâs final report and, perhaps with Russia seeming a dead end, the congressman is now looking to Ukraine to satisfy his appetite for investigation.
The actual Trump quote on Biden in the conversation with Zelensky goes as follows: âThe other thing, thereâs a lot of talk about Bidenâs son, that Biden stopped the prosecution [of the Burisma Holding where Hunter Biden was on board of directors] and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the attorney general [William Barr] would be great.â
FAKE NEWS MEDIA – IRONY: Reporter Who Shamed âIowa Legendâ Carson King Dismissed From Newspaper for Offensive Tweets

Aaron Calvin, a fake news reporter who shamed Childrenâs Hospital fundraiser Carson King for offensive tweets earlier this week, is no longer working for the Des Moines Register after his own offensive tweets were unearthed.
Carol Hunter, who works as executive editor for the Register, made the announcement in an op/ed released on Thursday.
âI want to be as transparent as possible about what we did and why, answer the questions youâve raised and tell you what weâve learned so far and what weâll try to do better. For one, weâre revising our policies and practices, including those that did not uncover our own reporterâs past inappropriate social media postings. That reporter is no longer with the Register,â Hunter wrote.
âThank you for your concerns about our coverage and for hearing me out directly here. To everyone who called, wrote and posted your opinions â your passion about news and its role in our society is clear. We heard you say you want news coverage that helps bring us together, not divide us. We agree, and we appreciate your heartfelt critiques of our work, as well as your support,â she added.
Previously, Hunter had defended the article shaming King for offensive tweets that he had made as a juvenile:
King had gained prominence after a sign he held asking for beer money at an Iowa State University football game went viral on ESPNâs âCollege Gamedayâ this past weekend. After he raised a shocking $1 million dollars on his Venmo account, King announced he would donate the money to the University of Iowa Stead Family Childrenâs Hospital. He was widely celebrated as a hero, until the fake news stepped in.
He was then made into a pariah by the journalists, in an instance of cancel culture at its worst. Anheuser-Busch dropped their partnership with him, and he was forced to prostrate himself publicly in an attempt to save face.
âI am so embarrassed and stunned to reflect on what I thought was funny when I was 16 years old. I want to sincerely apologize,â King said. âThankfully, high school kids grow up and hopefully become responsible and caring adults.â
However, it was soon discovered that Calvin had made many offensive tweets throughout his past as well, and they were publicized on social media by people outraged Calvin would have the audacity to target a man who was doing laudable charity work.

Calvin is now no longer employed with the Register, and the newspaper has suffered a great deal of embarrassment for their irresponsible reporting. Cancel culture has backfired on itself, as leftist fake news reporters are being held to their own Orwellian standards.
