WSJ’s Freeman: 2017 Politico Investigation Puts Hillary Clinton in Ukraine ‘Spotlight’

US ecretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton smiles with Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovych prior to a joint press availability at the Presidential Administration Building in Kiev, Ukraine, Friday, July 2, 2010. Clinton is in Ukraine, the first leg of a trip which is due to take her also to Poland …

By DR. SUSAN BERRY

The Wall Street Journal’s (WSJ) James Freeman observed Monday that Hillary Clinton is now joining Joe Biden in the “new spotlight” on the United States’ relations with Ukraine.

Freeman, the assistant editor of the WSJ’s editorial page, noted that Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley (IA) and Ron Johnson (WI) wrote Monday morning to Attorney General William Barr, asking if he has come up with any answers to the question of whether the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Hillary Clinton 2016 presidential campaign used the government of Ukraine “for the express purpose of finding negative information on then-candidate Trump in order to undermine his campaign.”

Grassley originally wrote in July 2017 regarding whether the DNC and the Clinton campaign had used the Ukraine government in order to sabotage the Trump campaign.

The senators continued:

That letter also highlighted news reports that, during the 2016 presidential election, “Ukrainian government officials tried to help Hillary Clinton and undermine Trump” and did so by “disseminat[ing] documents implicating a top Trump aide in corruption and suggest[ing] they were investigating the matter[.]” Ukrainian officials also reportedly “helped Clinton’s allies research damaging information on Trump and his advisers.”

The plan involved Alexandra Chalupa, reportedly a “Ukrainian-American operative” consulting for the DNC.

Chalupa “reportedly met with Ukrainian officials during the presidential election for the express purpose of exposing alleged ties between then-candidate Donald Trump, Paul Manafort, and Russia,” Grassley and Johnson wrote to Barr.

“The quotations come from a 2017 story in Politico, hardly a pro-Trump outfit,” Freeman, co-author of Borrowed Timeobserved, noting the headline, “Ukrainian efforts to sabotage Trump backfire.”

“Kiev officials are scrambling to make amends with the president-elect after quietly working to boost Clinton,” was the subheading, he pointed out.

Politico authors Kenneth Vogel and David Stern wrote in that article:

Ukrainian government officials tried to help Hillary Clinton and undermine Trump by publicly questioning his fitness for office. They also disseminated documents implicating a top Trump aide in corruption and suggested they were investigating the matter, only to back away after the election. And they helped Clinton’s allies research damaging information on Trump and his advisers, a Politico investigation found.

The goal of Ukraine’s reported aid to Clinton was to advance “the narrative that Trump’s campaign was deeply connected to Ukraine’s foe to the east, Russia.”

Freeman noted:

With the benefit of hindsight and the results of the Mueller investigation, it’s now clear that there was no evidence of Trump campaign collusion with Russia. What is not clear and what demands further investigation is how this baseless claim managed to consume the first two years of an American presidency.

Though the idea of such an effort by Ukraine appeared unlikely to some, Vogel and Stern insisted:

Politico’s investigation found evidence of Ukrainian government involvement in the race that appears to strain diplomatic protocol dictating that governments refrain from engaging in one another’s elections.

Freeman concluded the Politico investigation “may be helpful in figuring out exactly how the surveillance tools of America’s national security apparatus were turned against the party out of power in 2016.”

Liz Cheney Asks If Pelosi Saw Ukraine Call Transcript Before Its Release: ‘Starting to Seem Like a Political Setup’

WASHINGTON, DC - SEPTEMBER 18: Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) speaks to reporters during a press conference on September 18, 2019 in Washington, DC. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) on Monday said an intelligence official’s complaint that President Trump sought help from Ukraine in the 2020 elections “is starting to seem like a political setup.”

Cheney tweeted a clip of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) appearing to admit she knew what was in the transcript of a July 25 Trump phone call with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky even before the White House released the transcript of the call last Wednesday.

Pelosi, in an interview that aired Sunday on CBS News 60 Minutessaid Trump called her and they discussed the phone call before the transcript was released.

According to the New York Times, Trump and Pelosi’s phone call took place on Tuesday. The White House released the transcript on Wednesday.

But Pelosi said during the interview about her call with Trump, “He told me it was perfect. There was nothing in the call. But I know what was in the call. I mean, we — it was in the public domain.”

When Trump and Pelosi had spoken Tuesday, the call was not yet “in the public domain.”

Cheney tweeted:

.⁦@SpeakerPelosisaid on 60 Minutes last night she knew the details of the classified Ukraine call before White House released transcript. This is starting to seem like a political set up. So, Madame Speaker, “what did you know and when did you know it?”

Fred Fleitz, a former CIA analyst and chief of staff to former National Security Adviser John Bolton, has questioned whether the intelligence official who lodged a whistleblower complaint against Trump had help writing the complaint from Democrat lawmakers or their staff members.

He wrote in a New York Post op-ed on Thursday:

I am very familiar with transcripts of presidential phone calls since I edited and processed dozens of them when I worked for the NSC. I also know a lot about intelligence whistleblowers from my time with the CIA.

My suspicions grew this morning when I saw the declassified whistleblowing complaint. It appears to be written by a law professor and includes legal references and detailed footnotes. It also has an unusual legalistic reference on how this complaint should be classified.

From my experience, such an extremely polished whistleblowing complaint is unheard of. This document looks as if this leaker had outside help, possibly from congressional members or staff.

Moreover, it looks like more than a coincidence that this complaint surfaced and was directed to the House Intelligence Committee just after Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), an outspoken opponent of President Trump, expressed numerous complaints in August 2019 accusing President Trump of abusing aid to Ukraine to hurt Joe Biden. This includes an August 28 tweet that closely resembled the whistleblowing complaint.

House Republicans need to ask the whistleblower under oath whether he spoke to the press or Congress about his complaint.

VIDEO: John Kasich Stuns CNN Anchor, Cautions on Trump Impeachment Over ‘One Phone Call’, Says Nobody in Ohio ‘Talking About This’

Appearing on CNN’s New Day show Friday morning, Never Trump former Ohio Governor John Kasich (R) stunned anchor Alisyn Camerota by throwing cold water on the media and Democrats’ rush to impeach President Donald Trump over his July 25 phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Kasich cautioned over impeaching Trump for “one phone call”. Kasich said he was back in Ohio and that “nobody is talking about this, nobody’s coming up to me saying, ‘oh my goodness!’”

Camerota asked Kasich if that ‘one phone call’ showed criminality, “doesn’t it (lead to impeachment)?, Kasich replied that was a debate and that you would not find many Republicans in Congress who believe the call was criminal, but they might criticize and condemn Trump’s behavior over it.

When Camerota tried to make the case for Democrats that they are not rushing on impeachment, saying, “in fairness to the Democrats it has been three years” and that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was cautious by not going ahead with impeaching Trump with regard to the Mueller Russia investigation, Kasich called her out by telling her Pelosi couldn’t because there was nothing to the Mueller report to impeach Trump over.

Kasich did say he supports further investigation but that “the jury is till out in my mind” as to whether Trump should be impeached. Kasich condemned Trump’s conduct during and after the phone call, but is not there yet on impeachment.

Kasich closed by warning about the obsession for impeachment, “This is not a light matter. If all of a sudden everybody can be impeached, then it has no power.”

His is a rare voice of caution and reason among the Never Trump crowd, Democrats and media this week. The interview is worth listening to in its entirety. Transcript will be posted when available from CNN.

Democrats have come out full force to impeach President Trump. But they didn’t always used to think this way. In fact they were the complete opposite.

Biden was negotiating with a billion dollars of our stolen tax money for personal reasons ..

This is how CNN makes FAKE NEWS by cutting and pasting like a liars.

Considering it was all hearsay at first, it really wasn’t a “whistleblower”, but instead more like a “gossiper”.

Report: Federal Officials Found That Whistle-Blower Had ‘Political Bias’ for ‘Rival Candidate’ of President Trump

The Democrats have made a big mistake!

By Shane Trejo

Earlier today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced that she was beginning an inquiry into the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

It’s looking like her move will go down as one of the great miscalculations in political history after the release of another explosive revelation. A senior Trump administration official claims that the intelligence community inspector general determined that the whistle-blower who alleged Trump’s wrongdoing was motivated by “political bias” due to their support for “a rival candidate” of the President.

A different senior Trump administration official said to Fox News that the Trump administration is now working to release the whistle-blower’s complaint to Congress, as it appears that Trump has baited desperate Democrats into making fools of themselves yet again.

Earlier today, Trump announced his intention to release the full transcript of his conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He claims he has nothing to hide, but Democrats believe that Trump tried to strong-arm Zelensky into investigating his political opponent, former Vice President Joe Biden.

CAP

Biden boasted in 2016 during a meeting at the Council on Foreign Relations that he maneuvered to get a Ukrainian state prosecutor fired who was investigating a firm that employed his son, Hunter Biden. The admission that Biden would probably like to take back was immortalized on video.

The firm, Burisma Holdings, paid Hunter $50,000 per month to sit on its board. President Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has pointed out the ridiculous conflict of interest that went into this shady agreement.

“When Biden got the prosecutor fired, the new prosecutor who Biden approved — you don’t get to approve a prosecutor in a foreign country unless something fishy is going on — the new prosecutor dropped the case,” Giuliani said.

Giuliani also believes that Biden and his son engaged in nefarious cronyism after traveling aboard Air Force Two to visit China in 2013. In the days following their trip, a Chinese businessman made a $1.5 billion donation to BHR Partners. BHR is a private equity firm with Hunter sitting on its board.

“When he comes back … eight days later, the kid gets a billion dollars in his ridiculous private equity fund run by a recovering drug addict,” Giuliani said, referring to Hunter’s well-documented cocaine problem.

Not only are the Democrats attempting to impeach President Trump over yet another a nothing burger, but they are also putting the spotlight on their presidential front-runner’s scandals. The Democrats continue to be their own worst enemies heading into year’s crucial elections.
