Attorney General Bill Barr Announces Big Plan to Crack Down on Sanctuary Cities

By Jose Nino – 2/12/2020

U.S. Attorney General William Barr recently announced that the Department of Justice would be ramping up efforts to combat “sanctuary cities” and their activities promoting lawlessness.

The Blaze reported that Barr announced this plan at the National Sheriff’s Association 2020 Winter Legislative and Technology Conference on Monday, February 10, 2020.

“The department is filing a complaint against the State of New Jersey seeking declaratory and injunctive relief against its laws that forbid state and local law enforcement from sharing vital information about criminal aliens with DHS,” Barr declared, according to a Fox News report.

santuary

Barr said that legal action against New Jersey is in the works and represents one of numerous lawsuits against municipalities that use “sanctuary city” policies to subvert federal immigration law.

“We are filing a complaint seeking declaratory and injunctive relief against King County, Washington, for the policy,” Barr explained, “that forbids DHS from deporting aliens from the United States using King County International Airport.”

Barr stated that the Justice Department would also be reviewing the actions of “certain district attorneys” who levy lighter charges against foreign nationals in order to pre-empt possibly tougher charges coming from the federal level.

“The express purpose of these policies is to shelter aliens whom local law enforcement has already arrested for crimes,” Barr commented. “This is neither lawful nor sensible.”

BREAKING: CHINA TO QUARANTINE CITY OF SHENZHEN IN GUANGDONG PROVINCE, CAUSING “MAD RUSH” TO HONG KONG

BREAKING: China to Quarantine City of Shenzhen in Guangdong Province, Causing “Mad Rush” to Hong Kong

Infected citizens now fleeing to other nations

Mike Adams | Natural News – FEBRUARY 7, 2020

This is a breaking news update from Natural News, translated from the Chinese language Liberty Times Net website, which has produced some of the best reporting on the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.

According to the report, the communist Chinese government has just announced the imminent quarantine of the city of Shenzhen in the Guangdong Province, causing a “mad rush” of Chinese citizens fleeing to Hong Kong to try to escape the quarantines before the international community blocks all flights from Hong Kong. This effort will, of course, only serve to accelerate the spread of the virus internationally.

There are roughly 25 million people in the greater Shenzhen municipal area, so this is a significant increase in the number of Chinese citizens who will soon be living under military-enforced quarantine. (Currently over 50 million, soon to be at least 75 million and growing…)

Here’s the translated text that explains this. Just remember, automated machine translations from Chinese to English are very difficult, so the English appears quite broken:

Shenzhen News Network reported that the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government said on the 7th, all communities will be 100% closed management, if there are confirmed cases of residential “hard isolation” for 14 days, and organize “regulatory service team” to do key ethnic groups tracking, where there is a history of close contact with the case 100% of the implementation of centralized isolation, households also want to take temperature and other measures.

According to Hong Kong’s “Position News” reported that Shenzhen city from the 8th began to seal the city after the announcement of the news, 7 days from the emergence of a large number of people want to pour into Hong Kong, from the scene film can be seen at 10:28 p.m., shenzhen port before the appearance of long lines of taxis, are to load the people of Shenzhen into Hong Kong, long car long about 1 km.

The same story also reports that the hard quarantine of Shenzhen begins on Feb. 8th (tomorrow), which is why people are panic fleeing today, while they can still get out: (another important reminder to always have a bugout bag)

Comprehensive Chinese media reports, the Shenzhen Municipal Government announced that from February 8 on the city’s people’s vehicles fully implement control, in the “vehicle epidemic control checkpoint” vehicle control, and foreign vehicles to sacrifice “advance declaration measures”, the first time the public driving through the “vehicle epidemic prevention checkpoint”, must be at least 1 day in advance of the Internet registration declaration, approval before passing.

THE WUHAN QUARANTINE HAS BEEN BREACHED… “HONG KONG IS FINISHED”

Shenzhen, in Southern China, is very close to Hong Kong. This explains why Shenzhen residents are fleeing to Hong Kong, no doubt bringing more infections with them. Many residents will attempt to take flights out of Hong Kong in order to escape the draconian quarantine, which means of course that some of these people will be inadvertently spreading the coronavirus pandemic to yet more countries, including the United States, which still accepts flights from Hong Kong and China.

According to the Liberty Times Net story, observers in Taiwan are now saying, “Hong Kong is finished” and are demanding that flights from Hong Kong be cut off in order to protect Taiwan and other Asian countries from the exploding pandemic. Some of the quotes in the story include, “”The people of Hong Kong are dead, Taiwan will soon be cut off…” and “next week becomes the crazy influx of Hong Kong people into Taiwan.”

We pray for the people of Hong Kong in this desperate time. They are good people, and they don’t deserve this madness from communist China.

CHINA’S QUARANTINE EFFORTS NOW ACCELERATING THE SPREAD OF THE PANDEMIC

It brings up an important point in all this. As China is chasing the outbreak with ever-expanding quarantines, the citizens who live in those areas are attempting to flee before the quarantine, causing a mass exodus of infected individuals who would have otherwise probably just stayed home if not for the draconian quarantine measures enacted by the Chinese government. In effect, the quarantines are accelerating the spread of the virus to other countries due to this “fleeing” effect.

Much of this likely stems from the fact that China is now running door-to-door roundups of citizens, medically kidnapping them and throwing them into “quarantine prison camps” with bars on the windows of each room. Nobody wants to end up a prisoner in one of these “death hospitals.”

The coronavirus pandemic is currently spreading at the rate of roughly a 20% increase per day, achieving sustained, exponential growth that has spread to three cruise ships, dozens of countries and an ever-expanding list of mainland Chinese cities.

The initial attempt to quarantine the Wuhan region in order to stop the coronavirus has clearly failed. Yet the WHO, the CDC and the totally discredited mainstream media are still lying to the public, falsely claiming this outbreak is “under control” and “poses no risk to America.” Those claims are malicious, dangerous lies that even the CDC’s own scientists are contradicting in their public statements.

In addition, multiple health experts are now on the record confirming this pandemic has broken containment and will spread globally.

Any media source saying this is “no big deal” is actually trying to make the pandemic worse by keeping people uninformed and unprepared.

EXPERTS WARN CORONAVIRUS SPREADING UNDETECTED IN INDONESIA, THAILAND

Experts Warn Coronavirus Spreading Undetected in Indonesia, Thailand

Reports of confirmed cases oddly low in some Asian countries

Steve Baragona | Voice of America – FEBRUARY 7, 2020

The number of coronavirus cases reported in Indonesia and Thailand is well below what scientists would expect, given how closely connected the countries are to the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak.

That raises concerns that the virus may be spreading undetected in those countries, potentially adding fuel to the epidemic that has so far killed over 600 people and sickened over 31,000.

“Indonesia has reported zero cases, and you would expect to have seen several already,” said epidemiologist Marc Lipsitch at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, co-author of a new study posted on medRxiv.

Thailand has reported 25 cases, “but you would expect more,” he added.

Cambodia has reported just one case, which Lipsitch said is “not very likely,” but “not completely beyond what you would expect.”

The research is based on estimates of the average number of airline passengers flying from Wuhan to other cities around the world. More passengers would presumably mean more cases.

Going undetected?

Health systems in Indonesia and Thailand may not be catching cases, Lipsitch said, which could create problems for the rest of the world.

“Undetected cases in any country will potentially seed epidemics in those countries,” he added, which can spread beyond their borders.

Lipsitch’s group’s research is one of three recent studies to say that the virus was likely to reach Indonesia.

None of these studies has gone through the normal scientific process of review by outside experts, however. During this fast-moving outbreak, researchers have been posting findings online and on preprint servers to share what they hope will be helpful information. Experts caution that these publications should be taken with an extra grain of salt.

But researchers contacted by VOA said the findings were plausible and help address some lingering questions.

In China, the number of people infected has been climbing daily. But outside China, the outbreak has barely budged. That has puzzled health experts.

Where are they?

“This [study] does get at, I think, a significant question that a number of us have, which is: Where are these cases?” said virologist Christopher Mores at George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health, who was not involved with the research.

“It’s either that transmission is demonstrably different outside of the main outbreak zone for some reason that has not yet been described,” Mores said, “or we’re just not capturing it and counting it, and there’s a failure to detect.”

This study suggests the latter, he added.

Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia are screening travelers from China at the border.

“Indonesia is doing what is possible to be prepared for and defend against the novel coronavirus,” the World Health Organization’s Indonesia representative, Dr. Navaratnasamy Paranietharan, told the Sydney Morning Herald.

However, he added, “there is still more work to do in the areas of surveillance and active case detection.”

‘Beef things up’

These countries are not the only places with shortcomings in their public health systems, said epidemiologist Art Reingold at the University of California-Berkeley’s School of Public Health.

“I wouldn’t want people to think everyone else is doing a great job. We need to beef things up in a lot of places,” he added, and not just in the developing world.

“We think we’re doing a good job,” he said. “People think they’re doing a good job in France or whatever, but I don’t think we can afford to make that assumption.”

While some countries start to cut connections with China in hopes of keeping out the disease, Mores said, those measures may not help if the virus is spreading under the radar in countries that don’t.

“There’s certainly plenty of places, especially in the developing world, that are not going to be able to shut down their economies because of this coronavirus outbreak,” he said. “And the danger there is that those countries are even more susceptible” because of weaker public health systems.

And that puts the world at risk, Mores added.

First US person-to-person case of coronavirus reported in Chicago. ‘We believe people in Illinois are at low risk.’

CAP

By

The first U.S. case of the coronavirus spreading from one person to another was reported in Chicago on Thursday, the husband of a woman who caught the disease while in China.

It’s the second case that’s been confirmed in Illinois, and the sixth case in the U.S., since the respiratory virus first started to spread in Wuhan, China.

A Chicago woman who returned from caring for her sick father in China earlier this month was the first local person diagnosed with the illness, health officials reported Friday. The woman, who is in her 60s, traveled to Wuhan, China, in late December and returned to Chicago on Jan. 13. Her spouse, who had not traveled to China, is the second Illinois case and first instance of person-to-person spread in the U.S., the Illinois Department of Public Health said.

Health officials said the man has not attended any mass gatherings or taken the “L” train recently, and is currently sharing details of his activities from the last several weeks. Officials declined to say how many people they’re monitoring for illness who’ve been in contact with the couple but said they are “actively monitoring all close contacts.” The CDC considers close contact to consist of 10 minutes or more of face-to-face contact with a person.

In all, health officials are investigating 21 possible cases of the virus in Illinois.

Shortly after the announcement of the second Chicago case, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak a public health emergency.

Despite the news Thursday, the director of the Illinois Department of Public Health Dr. Ngozi Ezike said, “We believe people in Illinois are at low risk.”

“This person to person spread was between two very close contacts, a husband and wife,” Ezike said at a news conference. “The virus is not spreading across the community at this time.”

Coronaviruses are often spread through close personal contact, said Dr. Allison Arwady, commissioner of the Chicago Department of Public Health.

“We know this new patient had close contact with his wife after she began to develop symptoms so it’s not unexpected,” Arwandy said.

DuPage County public health officials said Tuesday they are tracking multiple county residents who may have come in contact with the woman, but none had reported symptoms. The couple lives in Chicago but may have come into contact with people in DuPage County, said Don Bolger, a spokesman for the DuPage County Health Department.

There have been 7,818 cases reported worldwide, mostly in China, and 170 deaths from the illness in China, according to the World Health Organization.

On Wednesday, the U.S. government evacuated 195 Americans from Wuhan. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also advised Americans to avoid all nonessential travel to China.

Symptoms of the virus can include fever, cough and shortness of breath. It’s believed symptoms appear anywhere from two to 14 days after exposure. The CDC has said it’s still unclear how easily the virus spreads from person to person.

Local health officials say it’s not necessary for Chicagoans to stay home or cancel activities amid the news.

More to come.

Mish: Chicago Headed For Insolvency, Get The Hell Out Now!

By Tyler Durden – 11/04/2019

Authored by Mike Shedlock via MishTalk,

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and the Teachers Union reached agreement on a deal sure to send Chicago over the cliff.

The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board blasts Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot for her deal with the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU). The deal will further wreak havoc on the already insolvent school system.

Who will be hurt most?

The WSJ answers the question this way: Union Routs Students in Chicago.

Contract Details

  1. 16% raise over five years (not including raises based on longevity)
  2. Three-year freeze on health insurance premiums
  3. Lower insurance copays
  4. Caps on class sizes
  5. More than 450 new social workers and nurses.
  6. New job protections for substitute teachers who going forward may only be removed after conferring with the union about “performance deficiencies.”
  7. Chicago Public Schools will become a “sanctuary district,” meaning school officials won’t be allowed to cooperate with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement without a court order.
  8. Employees will be allowed 10 unpaid days for personal immigration matters.
  9. Under the new contract, a joint union-school board committee will be convened to “mitigate or eliminate any disproportionate impacts of observations or student growth measures” on teacher evaluations.
  10. Instead of student performance, teachers will probably be rated on more subjective measures, perhaps congeniality in the lunchroom.
  11. The new union contract caps the number of charter-school seats, so no new schools will be able to open without others closing.

Get the Hell Out

The WSJ commented “Michelle Obama the other day complained that white people were leaving the city to escape minorities who are moving in. No, they’re fleeing Chicago’s high taxes and lousy schools—and so are minorities.”

Chicago Public School Bond Ratings

CAP

You can kiss those positive and stable outlooks goodbye. The system is insolvent and this contract will further weaken the outlook.

Bond Rating Comparison

CAP

S&P already has CPS bonds in the “highly” speculative area, five steps into its junk ratings.

Pension Spiking

Chicago Teacher’s Pension is based on your years of service and a pension percentage (up to 75%), multiplied by your final average salary. Their union notes “There are ways to increase these factors to enhance your pension or meet eligibility requirements.”

Let’s Discuss Pensions

Wirepoints asks Chicago Teachers Strike: Why is No One Talking About Pensions?

The average retired CPS teacher already receives a pension of nearly $55,000 a year, according to a 2019 FOIA request to the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund.

However, looking at the pension of an average teacher far understates the true size of CPS pensions. The “average” benefit includes teachers who only worked a few years for CPS, which brings down the average.

To get a more accurate picture of what pensions are really worth, look at career teachers. Over half of all currently retired CPS teachers worked 30 years or more. On average, they receive a $72,000 annual pension and began drawing benefits at age 61.

In comparison, the average annual Social Security payment in Chicago is just $16,000 and the maximum benefit for someone retiring at age 62 is $26,500.

C-O-L-A Cola, la la la Payola

CAP

The average career CPS pension will grow by 3 percent, compounded annually, due to the COLA benefits teachers get. That will double a teacher’s annual benefit to over $140,000 in 25 years.

Teacher Contributions

CAP

Those projections were based on the proposed contract. The CTU held out for even more benefits and got them.

Pension Funding Level

The Chicago Tribune notes that the end of 2018, City Hall’s pension funds had only 23% of what they should have.

By 2023, Lightfoot must find an additional $989 million a year for pensions, according to the Tribune’s Hal Dardick and Juan Perez Jr. Thank you, former mayors and aldermen, for promising more pension benefits than Chicagoans could afford.

Who Will Pay?

That one is easy.

  • The kids will suffer because charter schools are reined in, grading standards lowered, and incompetents were given further projections.
  • Taxpayers will face higher property taxes, higher gas taxes, and higher sales taxes with every penny going to pensions.

Get the Hell Out

On October 5, I commented Escape Illinois: Get The Hell Out Now, We Are

Goodbye Illinois. Hello Utah. See my reasons for Utah above.

If you can’t get out of Illinois, do the second best thing, Get the Hell Out of Chicago.

By the way, Chicago is not “headed” for insolvency, it’s already there, but it is just not recognized yet.

CNN EMPLOYEE CONFESSES THAT MSM IGNORES SHOOTINGS IN ‘MINORITY COMMUNITIES’

CNN Employee Confesses That MSM Ignores Shootings In 'Minority Communities'

Chicago shootings completely dismissed while crimes committed by white people get wall-to-wall coverage

OCT 14, 2019

A CNN employee was caught in undercover video by Project Veritas admitting that the network doesn’t cover shootings in “minority communities” the way they would in a white area because it doesn’t get good ratings.

“I think that shootings in poorer areas or, um, minority communities don’t get as much coverage as if they were to happen in a white area,” Christian Sierra told insider Cary Poarch on hidden camera.

CAP

“Let’s say in Princeton, a white kid gets shot at Princeton University,” Sierra said. “He gets killed. We’re going to get coverage on that because ‘Oh my God, we have to put the little precious white boy.’”

But if minorities are shot in Newark, New Jersey, “nobody cares. Maybe unless, unless it happens in Cory Booker’s neighborhood,” he added.

The video clip, which hasn’t yet been publicly released, was shared with meme maker Carpe Donktum AKA Logan Cook by Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe on Monday.

Donktum was suspended by Twitter just minutes after posting the exclusive clip.

“@CarpeDonktum’s account has been SUSPENDED,” O’Keefe tweeted. “I spoke with Logan Cook, who I shared an exclusive CNN clip with — and his account was suspended immediately upon posting one of the clips where Christian Sierra of CNN DISCUSSING COVERAGE OF SHOOTINGS…”

CAP

As of this writing, Twitter has lifted Donktum’s suspension, and the video in question is now available.

As we’ve reported, mainstream media – including CNN – provide very little coverage of violence in urban centers like Chicago or Baltimore, which are plagued with record shootings, but they’re quick to push fake hate crimes stories nationwide before confirming basic facts for ratings.

At least 34 people were shot, six fatally, over the weekend in Democrat-controlled Chicago.

By Sunday, August 8, 2019, at 4 pm, NBC 5 had already reported at least 29 shot, two fatally. The Chicago Sun-Times released a report Monday morning, August 9, 2019, showing the final tally at least 34 shot, six fatally.

The Times reports a man “between 40 and 50 years old” was found dead around 7 pm Sunday after having been shot in the neck.

Another Sunday death was that of a 17-year-old girl who was shot while walking down the 900 block of West 52nd Street around 9:30 pm Sunday. A man emerged from an alley, the two argued, then he shot the teenager, “three times in the head and multiple times in the upper body.”

A 49-year-old man was shot to death hours later in the city’s Austin neighborhood. The man suffered “multiple gunshot wounds to the head and one to the back.”

A 32-year-old was shot while driving just a few hours into Monday morning. As with other shootings, he was struck in the head. He then “crashed into a parked car.”

Breitbart News reported at least 41 people were shot, seven fatally, over Labor Day Weekend 2019 in Chicago.

At least 29 were shot, six fatally, over the weekend of August 23-25, 2019, in Democrat-controlled Chicago.

Breitbart News reported at least 28 were shot, five fatally, in Chicago over the weekend of August 16-18, Forty-seven people were shot, four fatality, over the weekend of August 9-11, and 53 people were shot, seven killed, in Democrat-controlled Chicago during the first weekend of August.

Illinois Leaders Warn Illegal Aliens of Possible ICE Raids

Government leaders in Illinois urged illegal aliens to know their rights after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were reportedly seen in a Chicago neighborhood on Thursday.

“If @ICEgov tries to intimidate you or your family, know your rights,” Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker tweeted. “The state of Illinois refuses to coordinate with federal immigration enforcement. I signed a law ensuring local law enforcement does the same. We’re doing all we can to protect our residents.”

Screen Shot 2019-08-10 at 11.34.47 AM

Byron Sigcho-Lopez, 25th Ward alderman, tweeted that his office had received reports of ICE agents approaching businesses and homes in the Pilsen area.

“We’ve confirmed these reports with the National Immigrant Justice Center,” he said.

The reports come after ICE agents arrested 680 illegal aliens in Mississippi this week, the largest single-state raid in U.S. history, Breitbart News reported.

The individuals were arrested at seven food processing plants across six cities including Bay Springs, Carthage, Canton, Morton, Pelahatchie, and Sebastapol.

“According to federal officials, some of the hundreds of illegal aliens arrested on Wednesday have already been ordered deported by an immigration judge and have refused to self-deport. Those illegal aliens will be quickly deported,” the report said.

press release from the ICE website stated that the agency will investigate the individuals arrested on a case-by-case basis.

“In all cases, all the illegal aliens encountered as part of this operation are either being placed into removal proceedings before the federal immigration courts, and for those who already received due process and have been ordered removed, processed for removal from the U.S.,” the release said.

However, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) called on President Trump during an interview Thursday to stop the raids, comparing them to the tactics of the Nazi secret police.

“I think it’s unfortunate when ICE has to be made into this kind of agency and to be an intimidator rather than an agency that has in the past made sure that we are safe in this nation,” she said.

“But when their neighbors are rounded up in a vile way, when children are left unprotected, I’m disappointed. And the president and Stephen Miller need to stop these Gestapo tactics, and we need to work together to pass comprehensive immigration reform,” Lee concluded.

2019 DATA SHOWS 51% OF MASS SHOOTERS WERE BLACK, ONLY 29% WERE WHITE

2019 Data Shows 51% of Mass Shooters Were Black, Only 29% Were White

When gang-related shootings are included, white people are underrepresented.

 |  – AUGUST 7, 2019

Data from Mass Shooting Tracker, a source widely used by the media, reveals that 51% of mass shooters in 2019 were black, 29% were white, and 11% were Latino, contradicting the media narrative that white people are overrepresented in mass shootings.

Investigative journalist Daniel Greenfield gathered the crucial data which confirms that mass shootings are not a “white man’s” problem.

He points out that while blanket media attention was focused on the shootings in El Paso and Dayton, 60 people were shot in Chicago over the weekend while Baltimore just reached its 200th murder victim of the year.

Greenfield then quotes Rep. Ilhan Omar, CNN’s Don Lemon and Newsweek, who have all claimed that white people are the biggest mass shooter threat and have carried out more mass shootings than any other group.

But that doesn’t appear to be the case for 2019.

“Looking at the data from the Mass Shooting Tracker, widely utilized by the media, as of this writing, of the 72 mass shooters, perpetrators in shootings that killed or wounded 4 or more people, whose race is known, 21 were white, 37 were black, 8 were Latino, and 6 were members of other groups,” writes Greenfield

“51% of mass shooters in 2019 were black, 29% were white, and 11% were Latino. Three mass shooters were Asian, two were American Indian and one was Arab.”

Many mass shootings in predominantly black areas that claimed black victims also remain unsolved, meaning the figures are if anything “vastly understated.”

The white population of the U.S. is around 61 per cent, African-Americans make up just shy of 13 per cent and Hispanics around 18 per cent.

Most mass shootings (where there are 4 or more victims) are gang-related shootings. By excising these shootings from the record, the media is able to pin the blame on white people.

Separate stats compiled by Statista of mass shootings between 1982 and August 2019 in the United States show that mass shootings by ethnicity and race are broadly in line with demographics, meaning white people are not overrepresented as mass shooters.

There are “no clear patterns between the socio-economic or cultural background of mass shooters,” according to Statista.

None of this matters of course because facts stopped being important years ago and everything is based on narrative and emotion.

Two men were killed and at least 10 people have been wounded since Friday night in city violence including a man and a woman who were stabbed when a 5-year-old boy was shot on the city’s South Side, Chicago police said.

In the possibly domestic-related incident involving the 5-year-old, two people were taken into police custody after a suspected brawl started in a hallway of an Englewood building in the 6700 block of South Parnell Avenue about 7:20 p.m. Friday. At one point, the boy was shot in the thigh and two adults were both stabbed.

Screen Shot 2019-08-05 at 10.32.01 AM

The most recent homicide happened shortly before 2:30 a.m Saturday in the 4600 block of West Monroe Street in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, where a 23-year-old man was fatally shot and a 28-year-old man wounded.

According to police, the younger man was sitting inside a vehicle and the 28-year-old was standing outside next to him when they both were shot. The younger man suffered a wound to the chest and was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The older man was shot in the leg and also went to Stroger, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Another fatal shooting happened around midnight in the Fernwood neighborhood in the first block of West 103rd Street. The victim was identified as Joshua Smith, 19, of the same block were he was killed, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. In the Fernwood attack, a 36-year-old man also was shot in the leg but told police he did not know the person who was killed.

In other shootings:

  • Shortly before 5 a.m. a 23-year-old man was shot multiple times in the hip in the first block of South Leamington Avenue in the Austin neighborhood. He was outside with a group of people when someone on foot opened fire, wounding him in the hip. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
  • About 4:37 a.m., a 25-year-old bicyclist was shot by someone in a white Ford Focus in the 6900 block of North Ashland Boulevard in the Rogers Park neighborhood. A passerby drove the victim to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
  • Shortly after 3:30 a.m., two people were shot in the 9000 block of South Stewart Avenue in the Princeton Park neighborhood. Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert found a 26-year-old man shot multiple times in the body. He was unable to talk. Another man, 25, also was shot in the leg, but he was uncooperative with police. His condition was stabilized at the University of Chicago Medical Center, but the older victim was in critical condition, police said.
  • Shortly before 2 a.m., a 39-year-old woman was shot in the 2000 block of 70th Place in the West Englewood neighborhood. Police said the victim was outside with a group of people when a person on foot fired shots, hitting her in the leg. The woman got herself to Holy Cross Hospital, where her condition was stabilized. Police said she was not the intended target.
  • About 1 a.m., a 21-year-old man was shot while he was a passenger of a vehicle in the 9100 block of South Baltimore Avenue in the South Chicago neighborhood. Someone in a passing gray vehicle fired shots, hitting the victim in the arm and leg. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
  • Shortly after 9:45 p.m. Friday, a 35-year-old man was shot in the 3700 block of West George Street in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side. Police said he was standing in the alley when he heard shots, then felt pain. He was taken with a wound to the leg to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.
  • Shortly after 7:15 p.m., a 19-year-old man was walking in an alley in the 1900 block of South Millard Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood when someone pulled out a gun and started shooting in his direction. He was struck twice in the lower back and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
