Google-Funded Tech Lobbyist Berin Szóka Apologizes for Post About Trump Dying from Coronavirus

Google-funded Berin Szoka

By Allum Bokhari – 3/11/2020

D.C. swamp-creature Berin Szóka sparked outrage on Monday when he tweeted that it would be “poetic justice” if President Trump died of the Wuhan Coronavirus. But who is Berin Szóka?

Szóka is the president of TechFreedom, a non-profit that presents itself as an opponent of “top-down solutions” in tech policy.

The non-profit is deeply tied to Google. Disclosures from the tech giant show that TechFreedom not only receives funding from Google, but it is also part of its Public Policy Fellowship program, which places Google-picked interns at public policy organizations around the world, including TechFreedom.

Szóka’s tweet drew condemnation from a wide range of conservatives and Trump supporters, including Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN)Harmeet Dhillon, and Ann Coulter.

The TechFreedom president later deleted and apologized for the tweet, saying he would “never wish death upon anyone” and that it “doesn’t represent my organization’s opinion.”

However, the tweet could come back to haunt Szóka, who has attempted in recent years to persuade Republican lawmakers that they shouldn’t use their power to tackle political bias from Big Tech companies.

In 2018, Szóka supplied testimony to a House Judiciary Committee hearing on online censorship arguing that tech companies should not be stripped of their government-backed legal privilege, which renders them immune from lawsuits relating to the removal of certain types of content, as well as lawsuits related to the hosting of content.

Szóka argued that any attempt to tackle Silicon Valley’s well-documented bias against conservatives would be akin to a “fairness doctrine” for the internet.

He has also argued against crackdowns against Big Tech companies for their numerous violations of user privacy, telling the House Energy & Commerce committee in 2012 that “As valuable as ‘privacy’ can be, its value is not absolute.”

Given that Szóka’s job appears to consist of the increasingly difficult task of persuading policymakers not to go after Big Tech, his anti-Trump social media posts may come back to haunt him. As the tweet from Rep. Banks shows, Szóka’s anti-Trump invective is not endearing him to Republican policymakers.

Szóka has not responded to a Breitbart News request for comment.

VIDEO: MASSIVE HORDE INVADES TOILET PAPER AISLE

This video reveals how easily society can collapse during mass, exploitable hysteria

Kit Daniels – MARCH 10, 2020

Security camera footage shows a massive horde descending upon an toilet paper aisle amid the Coronavirus chaos.

The footage shot at an Aldi store, which is a discount supermarket, in Melbourne, Australia, shows a mob descending zombie-style on freshly stocked toilet paper:

This video reveals how easily society can collapse into violent, tribal mobs at the first hint of mass hysteria – and why it’s critical to be well prepared before panic strikes.

New York Deploys National Guard to Set Up Coronavirus Containment Area

New York Army National Guard, B Company, 1st Battalion 69th Infantry, Soldiers, practices taking out enemy targets during training at the 106th Rescue Wing, F.S. New York National Guard troops were deployed Tuesday to assemble a containment area as part of the state’s effort to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

The deployment to a New Rochelle command post comes after Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) announced an additional 25 cases of the deadly illness were confirmed overnight. Though Cuomo did not comment on the development in New Rochelle, the Westchester County town where a bulk of the state’s 165 cases are located, he did tell CNN that officials are “taking more dramatic actions in that cluster.” The “panic that you see is unwarranted,” the governor added. “We have dealt with worse viruses.”

Cuomo warned that New York has not conducted enough tests and that the ones in China and South Korea appear to be more accurate. “What you will see is the number will continue to increase because they have increased,” he stated. “We’re not testing enough people to know where it is.”

Cuomo also confirmed that officials are considering New York City’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade over the virus that originated from Wuhan, China.

“You calibrate your response to the time and the facts and the circumstances in that place at that time,” said the governor. “So parades, etc. we look at that on a daily basis.”

Cuomo’s comments come after he announced New York is using prison labor to produce its own hand sanitizer product in an effort to offset price gougers selling the product at sky-high prices.

“We are introducing New York State clean hand sanitizer, made conveniently by the state of New York,” he said. “To Purell, and Mr. Amazon and Mr. eBay, if you continue the price gouging, we will introduce our product, which is superior to your product. And you don’t even have the floral bouquet, so stop price gouging.”

As of Tuesday, over 500 cases and 22 deaths due to the virus were reported from 34 states and Washington, D.C.

Pentagon Deploys Troops To California Border To Block Surge Of Possibly Infected Migrants

The Pentagon is sending 160 soldiers to California’s border with Mexico in order to assist border agents resist an anticipated surge in migrants if the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals strikes down Migrant Protection Protection Protocols (MPP), according to Breitbart.

Approximately 60,000 migrants have been returned to Mexico prior to their US asylum hearings through the MPP program, which is aimed at preventing migrants from obtaining work in the United States, according to the report.

Some of the 30,000 migrants waiting in Mexico rushed for the border February 28 when the court declared the MPP program to be illegal. The court then quickly put a stay on its decision to block the MPP until March 12, pending any Supreme Court intervention.

The California-based court also decided to allow the MPP program to operate in Texas.

Trump administration officials added that the troops could help prevent the migration of people carrying diseases, such as coronavirus.

On Friday, the Washington Examiner reported that US border officials have blocked ‘hundreds’ of foreigners from entering the country at land ports of entry along both the Canadian and Mexico borders, according to a senior homeland security official.

“We’ve turned people away on both borders, hundreds of them. In total, during the course of the last month … we’re under 1,000, but you’re in the hundreds, to give you a ballpark sense,” said deputy secretary of DHS, Ken Cuccinelli.

Customs and Border Protection officials (CBP) say their duty is to “secure our nation’s borders, and measures such as the Crisis Response Force employment allow CBP to do just that.”

Based on the pending MPP decision, continued concerns of large groups attempting to forcibly enter through [Ports of Entry] PoEs, and Covid-19 containment and mitigation concerns, CBP has activated the Crisis Response Force.

The Crisis Response Force will provide military police support, engineering support, and aviation support to CBP. Approximately 160 active-duty personnel will reposition from their CRS standby location at Fort Polk, Louisiana, to the southwest border in support of CBP.

Approximately 80 personnel will be deployed to PoE in El Paso, Texas, and approximately 80 personnel will be supporting the San Ysidro Port of Entry in California.

The CRF will remain at or adjacent to the selected PoEs as the operational environment evolves.

If necessary. the CRF has the ability to lift-and-shift via air or ground from one PoE to another PoE to support CBP.

The employment of the CRF is one element of CBP’s larger, comprehensive border security efforts to help CBP ensure everyone’s safety and security, to include travelers, asylum seekers, business stakeholders, and our own employee.

This CRF effort should not be confused with a current and distinct Texas National Guard annual training status deployment that is being conducted as the port of entry in Brownsville, Texas. Texas National Guard routinely conducts training events with CBP components.

CORONAVIRUS – Monday 9th March

By Dr. John Campbell – 3/9/2020

This is getting serious. I think Dr. Campbell’s alert level has jumped up to “a bit cross.” There is no higher alert level in Britain. On a less humorous note, a sign of the serious decay of a civilization is when the people no longer have faith in their government. I think this situation is going to be the straw that breaks a lot of people’s backs in that regard; I think a lot of people are going to end up feeling betrayed. Not that I had a lot of faith in the government to start with, but the sheer incompetence (and possible corruption) of the WHO and the CDC and the Feds in general has really put me into a mindset of I’m on my own with this. The government is to be ignored or outright distrusted.

DC PRIEST WHO SHOOK 500 HANDS AT COMMUNION HAS CORONAVIRUS

DC Priest Who Shook 500 Hands at Communion Has Coronavirus

Church cancelled for first time since 1800’s.

  – MARCH 9, 2020

A DC priest who shook the hands of 500 worshippers during communion has announced he’s contracted coronavirus.

“BREAKING: A D.C. priest has Coronavirus. He offered communion and shook hands with more than 500 worshippers last week and on February 24th,” tweeted ABC7’s Sam Sweeney.

“All worshippers who visited the Christ Church in Georgetown must self-quarantine. Church is cancelled for the first time since the 1800’s.”

The hand shaking took place despite many other Catholic churches changing their worshipping practices in an effort to stop the spread of the virus.

USA Today reports that at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, “Priests have started asking worshippers not to shake hands at the sign of peace, which occurs around midway through the Catholic service. Most Masses here normally don’t offer wine during communion, but those that do are suspending the use of the shared chalices for now.”

Such precautions are not being followed at other religious sites in regions impacted by the coronavirus.

Videos of two men licking holy shrines in Iran went viral last week, with one individual seen licking the Masumeh shrine in Qom, while saying, “I’m not scared of coronavirus.”

In another video, a man states he plans to lick the shrine “so the disease can go inside my body and others can visit it with no anxiety.”

The men face up to two years in jail in addition to 74 lashes.

China’s coronavirus recovery is ‘all fake,’ whistleblowers and residents claim

CAP

By Yuan Ruiyang and Isabelle Li

China’s claims of how it’s handling coronavirus recovery should be taken with more than a few grains of salt.

Even before COVID-19 became a global crisis, Chinese leaders had been criticized for their handling of the situation and lack of transparency about the disease’s progression. Things now look like they’re on the upswing, and businesses even appear to be headed back to work — but whistleblowers and local officials tell Caixan that’s just a carefully crafted ruse.

Beijing has spent much of the outbreak pushing districts to carry on business as usual, with some local governments subsidizing electricity costs and even installing mandatory productivity quotas. Zhejiang, an province east of the epicenter city of Wuhan, claimed as of Feb. 24 it had restored 98.6 percent of its pre-coronavirus work capacity.

But civil servants tell Caixan that businesses are actually faking these numbers. Beijing had started checking Zhejiang businesses’ electricity consumption levels, so district officials ordered the companies to start leaving their lights and machinery on all day to drive the numbers up, one civil servant said. Businesses have reportedly falsified staff attendance logs as well — they “would rather waste a small amount of money on power than irritate local officials,” Caixan writes.

In Wuhan, officials have tried to make it appear that recovery efforts are going smoothly. But when “central leaders” personally survey disinfecting regimens and food delivery, local officials “make a special effort” for them and them alone, one resident told Caixan. And in a video circulating on social media, residents can be seen shouting at visiting leaders from the apartments where they’re being quarantined — “Fake, it’s all fake.” Read more at CaixanKathryn Krawczyk
